LabScribe2 Software Makes Even Sophisticated Experiments“Click and Play” Easy

LabScribe2 has been developed from the ground up for classroom teaching, andstrikes an ideal balance between flexibility and simplicity. Setup of gains, samplingrates, display times and other criteriais automatic via the “settings” file.No complicated adjustments areneeded. Users can easily control thevarious aspects of recording throughdialogue windows and save theirpreferences for future use. In Manualmode, the user has control of allaspects of the recording.

LabScribe2 includes its own functiongenerator/stimulator for maximumexperiment versatility. Easy-to-usetools let the student make measure-ments from the data with a minimumof manipulation. For example,LabScribe2 can display the Mean,Min, Max, Duration and Amplitude ofa selection, or it can display the Rateor Integral of incoming signals in realtime. Incoming voltages can be easilyconverted to real units such as pH ormmHg. And, of course, built-in onlinehelp is instantly available.

Recorded data is presented as dis-tance per-unit of time, e.g., cm/sec,exactly as it would be on a traditionalpaper chart recorder. Using the built-in annotation feature, students caneven “write” on the virtual chartrecording to quickly locate regions ofinterest. For convenience, professional-looking LabScribe2 reports can be preparedand edited, all within the program’s own Journal. If desired, the pictures and textin the Journal can be easily exported to other programs.

iWorx 214 Data Recorder

The iWorx 214 recorder is the center-piece of iWorx teaching solutions. Thereliable 4-channel data recorder is con-structed of rugged, extruded aluminum,with a minimum of student-accessiblecontrols and adjustments.

For most applications, setup is auto-matic and transparent to the user. Fromwithin the software the unit can beconfigured for EEG, EMG (EOG) or ECG.The iWorx 214 includes a dual-channelbiopotential amplifier approved for useon human subjects. Two additionalchannels accept practically any sensoryou’re likely to encounter, as well asvoltage output of pH meters, spec-trophotometers and other laboratorydevices. The iWorx 214 also provides afully functional built-in stimulator usefulfor a variety of human and animal labs.

The recorder interfaces to a PC or MACvia a USB connection which providesaggregate sampling at 100 kHz contin-uous, more than fast enough for anyteaching experiment.
