Trump president: what does it mean?

As you already know, Donald Trump, an Ameri-can businessman, a reality television personality and a real estate mogul, born in NY in 1946, is about to be the forty-fifth President of the Uni-ted States on January. Do you remember when he won 290 big voters while Hillary Clinton had just 232 big voters? Even if we know that she had 2million votes more than Trump. […] End of article on page 4

Highschool news

The Première and Terminale L traveled to Biarritz by

bus for a pedagogical trip. During this stay, the stu-

dents went to the Latin-American festival to discover

films of the American subcontinent, the films were in

Spanish with French subtitles. The students could

attend to meetings with certain filmmakers, they we-

re housed in bungalows in a campsite. They stayed 3

days, and each day, the students watched 2 to 3 films.

On their way back to Charente Maritime, the students

of Première L had to give a critic on the film of their

choice for the cultural week.

A special day for the canteen Every day, the canteen feeds a lot of people and every year the chief prepares a special lunch for the Christmas school day. But how does this special day work? To begin, you should know that normally there are 5 persons in the kitchen but for the Christmas lunch they are 13 for a better efficiency and food quality. They work a lot in advan-ce to prepare this special lunch: for exam-ples, some cheese and fruits are prepared the day before (onWednesday evening) and the chocolate pockets were made by the boarders during two weeks. These chocola-te pockets represent 13, 000 chocolates in 1,300 pockets so we can thank the boarders who worked a lot for our pleasure. In this lunch, there are a lot of food that you don't usually eat, like two sorts of Ice creams called by the chef “Glittering” and “White Pearl” and of course the chocolate pocket!

YOU WAITED FOR THEM AND NOW THEY WE-RE ELECTED! On the 6th of October, there were the MDL's elections. We have made your voices heard, that's why there were many electors and the vote had been very close. The List B (with Jordan EPAUD as President) won 55 % of the vote and the List A ( with Estelle COURE as President) won 45% of the vote. Thus, both are on a new list. This new list is composed by 55 % of List B members and by 45% of List A members, because it's a proportional re-presentation. Also, because it's always funny to see the team's faces, we propose you a team's picture. Furthermore, the 8th of November, the MDL's team and the CVL's team were reuited on Saint Jean d'Angely's media library to talk about the many projects of this year. Between the « Percent »'s organization, the cultural week or the Prom, your CVL and your MDL prepare you many surprises !!! And if you are an artist, the MDL needs you to perform (if you want) for its cultural week ! Be Ready

An interesting learning trip to the Alps

From Thursday, 29 September, very early in the morning, to the night of Tuesday 4 November, all the TS classes went to the Alps to discover what they are going to study this year in relation to geo-logy.

We decided to interview two students from TS, Quentin Dubois and Kévin Hilson, to get more in-formation about this trip. They said that all the TS were presents on this trip, about 60-70 students and they were accompanied by their science tea-chers: Mr Moreau, Mrs Cuny, Mr Gautier, Mr

Courgues and also a CPE, Mrs Rodier. They stayed in " La résidence des quatres saisons ", which was at the cen-ter of all the activities they did during the trip. They visited the Radiotélescope of Nancay, they also made many walks in the mountains like the “plis of Saint Clement”, Chenaillé, Mont Lyonnais and many other mountains. Quentin and Kévin told us that the objective of the trip was to study a part of the geological syllabus which is not obvious and to see the rocks in real and thanks to the geologists who accompanied them during several activities, it was easier to understand. We asked them what they enjoyed the most during this trip and they replied that they really liked the walk at Chenaillé because they saw splendid landscapes like the one we can see on the picture.

We are very thankful to Quentin and Kevin for their help.

NEW MASTERPIECE OF SISMIKAZOT! “Sismikazot” is a fusion of the surnames of Rémi Azote and Paul Sismick who are two great friends who met up at the high school with a common passion : that of paint. They both worked as painters since 2013, Rémi went to an engineering school as for Paul, he did a BTS in landscape painting. They both like their job enormously because they combine work with passion and thanks to this one they travel around France a lot. They even went once to Morocco, but it is rare for them to go abroad to work. Their work requires a great deal of time so they work a lot and therefore have very little time to spend with their families. They usually have a different project every week. They always represent anonymous people. Everything started at the beginning of the 2016 school year, the group Sismikazot has been requested by Antoine Lamarche who works on the culture of the city of Saint-Jean-D'Angely for a big and long project. Their mission is to create several artistic works throughout the municipality. They began by creating a mural on the basketball grounds next to the high school. For this creative piece, they chose a resident of the retirement home of Saint-Céré, Suzy, who was their source of inspiration. It is interesting to note that the quotation next to Suzy was a col-lection of the thoughts of some of the high school students. Some time after this piece, both artists spent 15 hours with « 3ème prépa pro » of the high school to create a graffiti on the wall of the audiovisual room. Thanks to Paul and Rémi, without forgetting Knacky their faithful dog, for their magnificent works and their good mood !

News End of Donald Trump article:

Donald Trump has already presented many points about his program. Here are some information from his campaign website. He proposes a review of all Cyber Security and wants to reinforce it. In econo-my, he promises 25 mil-lion new jobs, to increase the Gross Domestic Pro-duct growth, reduce taxes and beat the commercial enemy that is China. For the education, he wants to invest in $20 billion in schools, to make tutition fees cheaper and easier to access, and give a future for 11 million poor chil-dren. For health care, Trump wants to replace

the Obamacare project with health saving accounts. About immigration problems, he wants to control the en-try of Mexicans on American soil. He also proposes to preserve air, water, reserves, ressources and natural ha-bitats, and to use the shale to make the U.S.A independent. For the national defense, he wants to improving the army and for the foreign policy, to working with allies to eliminate ISIS. Trump's purpose is to launch military operations and share informations with other countries to disrupt propaganda of ISIS and their recruitment. Then, for business, he wants to withdraw the United states from the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Since Donald Trump was elected, he has begun appointing his future advisors for his four-year term. One of the first is Steven Bannon, who will be the future High Advisor and the Head of strategy. However its reputa-tion is unflattering: he was indicted for domestic violence and assault in 1996 and he has made racist and mi-sogynous remarks on several occasions. In October 2015, the Bloomberg Group said: «He is the most dange-rous framework of politics in the United States.» Trump chose the former General Michael Flynn for the post of National Security Advisor. His duties were withdrawn in 2014 because of his erratic behavior and brutality towards his colleagues and subordinates, in addition to his racial ideas that ruined his career. Seeing he was elected, many people have started to doubt the choice of the future president: there is a lot of manifestations organized in all the country and also in Paris: they call him the «New Furor». That's why some bigs electors say that they will change their votes. It never happened, but it's possible that results change, so Hillary has again a chance to win.

Is the Charente-Maritime attractive?

As part of the English class, we interviewed Nikola Marshall. She is 60, and lives in Mazeray, she has 4 children. She told us that she is vegeterian but she can eat fish, her favorite music is Ruby Tuesday by the Rolling Stones. As a matter of fact, her favourite movie is 6th Sense , and her favourite series is Downton Abbey. She used to come to France every holiday, so she bought a holiday house in France. With her husband they spent a month there, it was sunny every day but then they came back to England it was rainy for a month! So they deci-ded to leave the UK to live in France. She told us that it is not so hard to go to the UK because of the La Rochelle airport. When we asked her what she disliked in France she laughed, she told us:”the driving, because in France no one uses indicators”! But she likes the French food! Today she is really well integrated: she has a lot of French friends. At the end she said she had never thought to go back to live in the UK. Like Nikola Marshall a lot of people deci-ded to live in France, mostly in Charente-Maritime. So, our country and the Charente-Maritime are still attractive! We must thank Nikola Marshall for having been here that day!

This month, we would like to talk to you about J.K.Rowling's new novel, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and about the last Marvel movie Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange, a MARVELous film. Doctor Strange is the last film of the Marvel Studio, it was released on the 26th of October. The film was directed by Scott Derrickson and is based on the comic Doctor Strange created by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee. In this movie, Marvel presents a new Hero of its universe who would take on an important role in the next films such as Thor : Ragnarok and Avengers : Infinity War. The film has made more than $572 mil-lion worldwide.

The film tells the story of Dr Stephen Strange, a surgeon who lost his hand's control after a car crash. He met the Ancient One, a sorcerer who taught him the mystic arts and how to travel in other dimensions. He discovers that the Earth is threatened by Dormammu, the lord of chaos, who wants to bring the World in the Dark Dimension. Next issue : 2017: new year, new projects and new people

LITERARY REVIEW: « Harry Potter & the Cursed Child » our opinion on this new best seller...

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the new book of the Harry Potter saga which was much awaited by fans (Maybe even you ?) ! It tells the adventures of the cursed child : Albus-Severus Potter (whose name is the same as the two important characters Albus Dumbledore, the former director of Hogwarts AND Severus Snape an il-lustrious Slytherin), the son of Harry and Ginny 19 years after the struggle against the forces of Evil (Harry Pot-ter and the Deathly Hallows)... This theater play of 4 acts is written by J. Thorne from an original story J.K Rowling, J. and J. Tiffany Thorne, it was published at the end of last summer : 31st July. So you will find the trio Harry, Hermione, Ron and the other characters in adulthood. But still this 8th book has nothing to do with the rest of the saga and leaves us a bit un-satisfied... As J.K Rowling didn't write this book, her universe is still there but the tone is clearly different and the psychology of the characters is very different. We do not find the Harry Potter that we know, it seems much more annoying and has lost its magnifiscence. He works as an employee at the Ministry of Magic, is married and father of two children but the relationship with his younger Albus, is very complicated. Harry struggles with his past and his son Albus inherits of the uncomfortable status of being "Harry Potter's son" which weighs heavily on him. This aspect of the characters is very interesting because Albus is the opposite of Harry. In addition to that, Albus became the best friend of Scorpius (the son of Drago Malfoy) who is one of the most important cha-racters of this book. His family disapproves because of the Malfoy reputation, and the old conflict between Dra-go and Harry. This is a story of an unusual duo who have to fight against their family background. Moreover, it is fascinating to see him evolving in the universe from a totally different angle: for him Hogwarts is despicable. Overall, this book is still a fairly good read for all fans of the saga but this is likely to disappoint several because it is not an "afterpart" and does not have J.K Rowling's trademark. However some scenes are very well written and highlight unexpected facets of characters. For information this book will probably not be adapted in film be-cause according to D. Yates (director of several H.P.) because « this theater piece should not leave a scene of theater". We will see in the future if this is true...All in all, this book is a little disappointing but is pleasant and easy to read even if you don't really know the other books. But it will not change the opinion that we have on this saga: it remains absolutely brilliant, and we always adore plunging into the universe of H.P... (Do not hesitate to follow the hashtag #harrypottergeneration if you too are an incontestable fan !).
