New Delhi, Feb 2 Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley said the philosophy behind the budget was to lend support to sectors where actually support is required. Interacting with business leaders at an open house session in New Delhi today, Shri Jaitley said, the government is on the path of revival in exports, that will be a major positive. He said manufacturing sector has picked up in last few months and there was a need to focus on infrastructure sector. The Day marks the date of the adoption of Convention on Wetlands of international importance especially as Waterfowl habitats held on 2nd February 1971, in Ramsar, Iran. 'Wetlands for a Sustainable Urban Future' was the theme for World Wetlands Day celebrations this year. As part of observance of the day, an awareness programme was arranged in the vicinity of wetlands at Sippighat, South Andaman. About 40 students accompanied by teachers from GSSS Bathubasti, Garacharma World Wetland Day observed; importance of mangroves highlighted and GSS Dairy Farm were taken on a study tour to the wetland areas of Sippighat for creating greater awareness and wide publicity on wetland conservation. Addressing media in New Delhi, Shri Nadda said, the National Health Protection Scheme announced in the budget will provide medical cover of up to 5 lakh rupees per annum to 10 crore poor and vulnerable families. The 'Pig Festival',

showcasing the unique

Nicobarese Tribal Culture &

Tradition was organized by

the Tribal Populace at

Kinyuka village, Car Nicobar

recently. It is only the first

time after the Tsunami of

2004, that the festival was

organized at such a grand

scale. It was witnessed by a

large number of villagers

including the Bishop of

A&N Islands, Shri

Christopher Paul, Tribal

Council Leaders along with

the Deputy Commissioner,

Nicobar District, Shri

Awanish Kumar,

Superintendent of Police,

Nicobars, Shri Manoj C and other Senior Officers of the Administration.

'Pig Festival' is an occasion

where the people from

different villages assemble at

the village of hosting Tuhet

to meet each other and to

remember their ancestors by

singing and dancing

throughout the night. The

dance is performed in a

circular formation. Both men

and women join in the dance

but in separate groups. The

dancers wear the traditional

costume consisting of

coconut and plant leaves

around their heads and

waist. There are no musical

instruments accompanying

this performance. A pig fight

follows the folk dance in the

morning.

exhibition- cum- sit and

draw competition for the

students of the Navy

Children School, Minnie

Bay recently, which was

participated by about 50

students. The program was

inaugurated by Lt. Cdr.

Pushpanjali Yadav,

Director, NCS (PBR).

During this program, an art

exhibition was showcased

in the school premises.

Prizes and certificates were

distributed to the top 10

students. Registration forms

for the field trips were also

distributed to the students.

citizen under 80D. This means that an additional Rs.

for allocating to health insurance premiums.

The Budget 2018 demonstrates the Finance Minister's

intent to boost investments in rural development,

education, healthcare and social sectors. The Budget

recognises the role of "Infrastructure sector" as growth

driver of the economy with an estimated investment

requirement of massive INR 5.97 lakh crore. All time high

allocation has been made to rail and road sector.

The siren will be tested on 3rd and 18th of every month at 1000 Hrs. during the test, the siren will

be blown for two successive blast for 30 seconds. Siren of Electronic Display Board installed at

Police Control Room, State Control Room, Junglighat (Fisheries Dept.), Met Office, MRCC, JOC,

INS Jarawa at Port Blair, Fisheries Dept. at Rangat, EOC at Mayabunder, MRCC at Diglipur,

Fisheries Dept. at Hut Bay, EOC at Kamorta, EOC at Car Nicobar, and MRCC & EOC at Campbell

Bay will also be blown in a similar manner at 1000 Hrs.

Therefore, the general public is hereby informed not to panic during the test of siren and

requested to remain calm during test blast of siren on the date and time specified above.
