Three key points for TCM iMassager operation

1. Find the exact pain point: The point which is sticked to the

massage pads should be the most painful point in normal times.

2. Strength: Therapeutic strength must be gradually increased,

and it's better to reach the highest strength you can stand.

3. Therapeutic duration: 2-3 times/day, 40-60minutes/ time, over

10 days for one course of treatment.

Before operation, please read carefully this operation instruction

manual, and be clear about the instruction.

Introduction

Massage therapy is the treasure of Chinese traditional medicine, which is of

good therapeutic efficacy to various commonly encountered diseases and

frequently occurring diseases, especially to those symptoms caused by injury

of soft tissues, aseptic inflammation and degenerative lesion.

The arrival of the instrument is an achievement of State Torch-plan Project.

The massage instrument is applying the modern electronic simulation

technology to output bioelectrical signal with human body bioelectrical

features. As it is applied on human body, regular movement of relevant muscle

groups of human body will bring out the therapeutic effect of an actual manual

massage.

The instrument can improve the microcirculation of human body, promote

the absorption of inflammatory substances, relieve the tissues adhesion, and

alleviate various pains. It is good, therapeutic and effective in alleviating

cervical syndrome, periarthritis of shoulder, lumbar muscle strain, fasciitis

and joint pain, etc. Those that work in a fixedposture, the application of the

instrument can alleviate weariness, improve partial muscle tissues and

nutritional status, and prevent strain and hyperosteogeny. Bedridden patients

who suffer from hemiplegia, the instrument can provide effective health

nursing to prevent the muscle from atrophy and shorten the rehabilitation

course. For the middle and old age, the application of the instrument may help

improve physical quality and prevent the locomotor system from aging and

degenerating.

The instrument is small in size and easy to operate, causing no ill effect on

human body.Since it's production, the instrument has won great attention and

high praise. It is regarded by many professionals as a successful step taken by

the natural traditional medicine toward modernization. No doubt, the

instrument is good news for the patients and will help to release them from

pain and improve their quality of life.

finished, the indicator light is off.

● Clinical application1.Treatment principle

The TCM iMassager uses therapeutic waveform to produce the massage

effect through piling up the bioelectric signal with the human bioelectric

features. when the massager is placed directly on the diseased parts and

through the regular contraction of the muscle of the diseased parts, it can:

①Accelerate microcirculation and promote the absorption of inflammatory

substances. ②Loose adhesion and smooth joints. ③Relax muscle and relieve

the muscular spasm. ④Relieve pain.

2.Therapeutic Objects

Pains and aches in the neck, shoulder, arm, back, waist, sacrum, hip and

leg, etc due to aseptic inflammation and injury in the soft tissues such as the

muscle, fascia, ligament, joint capsule, peroist and fat caused by acute injury,

chronic strain and hyperosteogeny etc as well as patients of paralysis.

3. Health care

①It can relieve fatigue for those who often work for hours in a fixed posture,

such as accountants, drivers and computer operators.

②Health care for the middle-aged and elderly through the stimulation of

relative acupuncture points.

●Operation procedures1. Preparation: Clean your skin before applying the massage pads.

2. Affixing the massage pads: Find out where the pain is, clean it with a wet

towel. Uncover the protective films of the massage pads, apply the pads on

your body and plug the pad cord into the plughole of the device.

Hints: The two massage pads should be affixed synchronously on the body,

and they should not touch each other.

3.Starting up: Press the on/off key, the instrument is started. The default

mode is 1, the initial strength level is 1 and the default time is 20 minutes.

one treatment course. Press the “M” for mode selection, these six modes will

change in sequence and circulation.

Hints: For every change of the mode, the strength level will be 1, the

strength can be gradually adjusted to the strength till you can endure it.

● Points for Attention:1)Clean the skin of therapeutic sites before treatment.

2)The treatment can't be made with only one massage pad. Neither should

two massage pads have contact with each other.

3)Don't pull the wire when taking off the electrode.

4)The massage pads should not be placed at the heart position.

5)The patients of serious heart diseases and pregnant women should use

the instruments under the guidance of a doctor.

6)The instrument is prohibited to be used by the patients with the cardiac

pacemaker.

7)Children and the psychotics should not be allowed to use this instrument

independently

8)The patients with acute trauma accompanied by subcutaneous

hemorrhage, tumefaction and fracture should see the doctor first and use this

instrument to promote the restoration after 24 hours.

9) Don't place the pads on the locations of bleeding, inflammation and

ulcer.

10)The battery should be charged for 8 hours or so before first use.

11) The battery should be charged every 3 months in case the device is not

used for long.

12)Please be sure to replace the battery with correct type if necessary.

13)Use the battery following the instructions of battery.

● Maintenance and Care

1)Turn off the power after use and put it in a cool and dry place. The cover of

the instrument should not be opened by the non technical person. It should be

sent to the place purchase for repair if there are any problems.

2)A small amount of clean water can be used to moisten the massage pads

when the viscosity of adhesive face of the massage pad has decreased. The

massage pads can be used repeatedly, over 150 times. It may then be

replaced with new ones when the viscosity is completely lost.

●Regular treatment principles1.Take comfortable posture and relax

the muscle for treatment.

2.Find the exact pain point that will be

taken as the position for treatment.

3.Adjust the strength to the highest

strength you can stand in order to improve

the therapeutic effect.

4.The selection of the therapeutic

waveform can be decided according to the

tolerance of oneself.

5.A course of treatment is 10 days, 2-3

t imes/ a day, 40-60 minutes /each

time. The treatment can be made again

after a week's rest when a course of

treatment is finished.

position, as shown in Figure 2.

●Pain in the trunk Various chronic strain, acute injury and hyperosteogeny can cause local

tissue inflammatory edema, pain and limited activities that are likely to occur

in the neck, back and waist of the human body as shown in Fig.1. This

instrument can relieve pain satisfactorily by promoting absorption of

inflammatory substances and improving microcirculation to send better

nutrition supply to the local injured tissues. It is essential to choose the proper

spots on the body for treatment (the spots to apply the massage pads to).

①Position for application of the massage pads

According to TCM, the most sensible pressure pain point is the key point,

the most proper position to be treated. Find the pressure pain point with

reference to Fig.1. Apply one massage pad onto it. Apply the other massage

pad onto a proper point symmetrical to the chosen pressure pain point or near

to it, but the two massage pads should not be overlapped. If there are several

separated pressure pain points, treat them one by one.

●Relieving fatigue and preventing diseasesThose people who often have to keep a fixed posture, such as office

workers, computer operators and drivers may have certain muscles and

ligament overstretched, resulting in pain, sore and numbness. They are

mostly likely to get injury, strain, inflammation, hyperosteogeny, cervical

syndrome, periarthritis of shoulder and so on. Using this instrument can help

to relieve fatigue and improve microcirculation to prevent those occupational

diseases.

①Position of massage pads for treatment of the

neck, shoulder and back. See Fig.3

Mode 1 for 30 minutes, mode 2 or 3 for 30 minutes

by turns for A, B and C. Longer treating time is

needed for those parts of great pain. It is

advisable to use fairly large strength as you can

stand.

② Position of massage pads for treatment of

thewaist. See the Fig.4

Mode 1 for 30 minutes, Mode 2 for 20 minutes or

mode 3 for 30 minutes. It is advisable to do some

waist exercise after the treatment. Longer

treatment is needed for more serious sore and

pain. The above described is general treatment.

For information about “special treatment for

special diseases”, please read the following parts

of this manual.

30. Inferior gluteal nerve

31. Lower and outer margin of arococcyx

32. Gluteal tuberosity of femur② Massage mode and length of operation time

Mode 1 for 30 minutes, then Mode 3 or 2 for 30 minutes, 2-3 times a day for

each pain point.

●Pain in the joints and limbsPain in the joints, sport injury, soft tissue injury, inflammation, edema and

many other diseases may cause joint ache, which often occurs in the joints of

shoulder, elbow, knee, wrist, ankle, etc.

①Position of massage pad application

For joint pain, the two massage pad should be applied to the two

symmetrical sides of the painful point, see the Fig.2.

②Massage mode and length of operation time

Mode 1 for 30 minutes, the Mode 3 for 30 minutes,

2-3 times a day.

Pain in the muscles and tendons of the limbs: It is

often caused by sport injury, overstrain or some

other factors. The common signs are muscular

pain, swelling and spasm.

①Position of massage pads

Apply the pads to each end of the painful muscle

or apply one pad to the muscle and the other to

the tendon. The position can be slightly regulated

according to sensation.

②Massage mode and length of time

Mode 2 for 20 minutes, then Mode 1 for 20 minutes. Consult the doctor if the

injury has laceration of muscle or tendon.

Special Treatment for Special DiseasesI. Pain in the neck and back

While working, if people keep lowering the heads and bending over their

98

Page 9: TCM iMassager Instruction Manual 2011.6

desks for long time with an unchangeable posture (e.g. accountants, typists,

PC operators, drivers and so on), the muscles of neck, nape and back are

always in the mode of muscular tension. Long period of time in this mode will

causes hypoxia to the muscles of neck, nape and back, and produce a great

amount of lactate and potassium ion collecting together. They complain of

aching and swelling muscular pain. From day to day and with people's

unconsciousness for self-health protection, sooner or later a pathologic

change arises form the muscles of neck and nape, and aseptic inflammation is

caused by chronic strain as well, i.e. the nuchal fastiitis. With increasing

fatigue and changing weather, the pain in neck, nape and back will often

trouble you.

If such disease is not cured timely, the injury of nuchal muscle will break the

mechanical equilibrium of neck region, thus resulting in hyperplasia,

degeneration and change of cervical physiological radian. Beside the pain in

neck, nape and back, there are the signs of dizziness, nausea, eye turgid,

tinnitus, hand numb and so on, now you have suffered cervical syndrome.

The above introduction makes us know that the best way for prevention and

cure of cervical syndrome lies in necessary self-health protection and prompt

treatment.

1. Cervical syndrome(1) Major signs

Pain in the neck, shoulders, arms or occiput,

which may be accompanied with headache,

d izz iness, swel l ing pain in eyes, t inni tus,

numbness in hands and limited neck movement.

(2) Position of the massage pads See the Fig.5

(3) Treatment

First apply the pads onto the point of A. Treat in mode 1 and mode 3 for 20

minutes each, and then take the point of B. Treat in mode 2 for 20 minutes.

Fig.5

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

②Do not apply the pads too high upon the two sides of the neck, not too

strong and not too long.

③For patients with nerve root and blood vessel oppression, it is advisable

to have neck traction under the guidance of the doctor.

2.Fascitis in the back(1) Major signs

Sore and pain, heaviness and tightness in the back and shoulders. It

frequently occurs in the shadowed parts shown in the picture in older people

and in those people who keep bending their head

during work.

(2) Position of massage pads See the Fig.6

Find the most sensitive pain point with reference

to the shadowed parts shown. Apply the pads to

and near it.

(3) Treatment

Mode 1 for 30 minutes, then mode 4 for 30

minutes.

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

②There may be several pain points.Try carefully to find the most proper

ones. Apply the massage pads to the most sensible pain points, two as a set

and treat 20-40 minutes each.

③Relax during the treatment, let the muscles twitch naturally.

④The above mentioned treatment is also fit for pain points not included in

the picture.

inflammation substances and removing threshold of pain.

4. Lumbar muscle strain(1) Major signs

Chronic recurring lumbago often in the lower part of the waist. The pain gets

more serious when the weather varies or the patient is tired, but the pain is

less serious after a rest. Examination finds wide-spread pressure pain in the

lumbosacral part without noticeable pain in the lower limbs.

(2) Position of the massage pads. See the Fig.8

(3) Treatment

Apply one pad to the most sensible part as

shown and the other to the opposite, take mode 1

and mode 3 for 30 minutes each.

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

② If there are may pain points in the waist, the

pads can be app l ied to two pa in po in ts

respectively.

5. Acute lumbar sprain(1) Major signs

The patient has a clear history of lumbar sprain.

Lumbago with difficulty in moving the body due to the pain, which worsens at

coughing and deep breathing.

(2) Position of the massage pads See the Fig.9

(3) Treatment

Apply the pads to the most sensible points or nearby, take mode 1 and mode

3 for 30 minutes each.

(4) Notes

3. Stiff neck(1) Major signs

Sudden attack of pain in the neck and noticeably limited neck movement

due to improper sleeping posture or strain of the

neck.

(2) Position of the massage pads.See the Fig.7

(3) Treatment

Apply the 2 pads on the neck root of patients

and pressure pain point of the shoulder, mode 1

for 30 minutes, then mode 3 for 20 minutes.

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

② The patients can make proper movements of his neck during the

treatment.

II. Lumbosacral Pain

Fig.8

Fig.7

There are many reasons for pain in lumbosacral position. Here we lay

special stress on the pain caused by acute injury, chronic strain and

hyperosteogeny.

Soft tissue (tendon, muscle, ligament, joint capsule and so on), joints

(lumbar vertebral posterior joint and sacro-iliac articulation) and lumbar

intervertebral disc in the lumbosacral portion are the very parts to be injured.

However, the injury of these parts from either acute injury or chronic strain,

will show the same pathologic sign. For example, all pain in the lumbosacral

portion is caused by stimulating the local teleneuron of traumatic aseptic

inflammation.

Then, we have known: The key for treatment of pain in lumbosacral portion

is to fix the exact pain point, i.e. the pathological position. This instrument can

play a role in subsiding swelling, pain-killing, promotion of absorption of

② Treatment should not be given until 24

hours after the injury.

Fig.9

rd6. 3 lumbar vertebra transverse process syndrome

(1) Major signs

This disease is more often seen in the young and middle-aged people who

have had lumbar trauma or internal injury caused by prolonged overstrain.

The patient has pain and a sense of heaviness in the waist, which is

comparatively serious in the morning after getting up and become less serious

after moving about a little. The pain gets more serious when the weather

varies or when the patient is tired. Examination finds obvious pain when

pressure is applied to the lumbar vertebra and

slightly limited bending of the waist is commonly

seen.

(2) Position of massage pads. See the Fig.10

(3) Treatment

Apply the pads to point A. Treat in mode 1 and

mode 3 for 30 minutes each.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for operation.

Fig.10

Lumbago accompanied with pain in the lower limbs, which gets more

serious at coughing, sneezing and walking; noticeable pressure pain and

percussion pain in the waist; difficulty in lifting the stretched leg while lying,

hipache in the diseased side and limited waist movement are also common.

(2) Position of the massage

pads.See the Fig.11

(3) Treatment

Apply one pad to the most

sensitive pain point and the other

to the opposite side as shown by A,

and treat in mode 1 and mode 3 for

30 minutes each. For hipache,

apply the pads to the most sensible

pain point in the hip as shown by B

and treat in mode 1 and mode 3 for 20 minutes each. For pain in the lower

limbs, apply to points C and treat in mode 1 and 3 for 20 minutes each.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for operation.

8. Superior clunial nerve injury(1) Major signs

The patient has a history of lumbar sprain,

stabbing pain, sore or tearing pain in one hip,

sometimes with dragging pain in the lower limb but

not beyond the knee. It is difficult to bend, sit and

stand. Noticeable pressure pain can be detected

2-3 cm medial to the highest point of the iliac

spine.

(2) Position of the massage pads. See the

Fig.12

7. Prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc

(1) Major signs

Fig.11

Fig.12

1514

Page 12: TCM iMassager Instruction Manual 2011.6

During daily life, a cause of disease or chronic strain will be formed without

timely treatment if your shoulder joints are injured. Chronic strain will become

worse, resulting in soft tissue retrograde affection owing to frequent

movement of shoulder joints. The middle age, often have pain in shoulder

joints caused by cold, fatigue and trauma. The pain is particularly serious in

the evening, and effects sleeping. Patients decline to move their shoulder

joints for fear of pain. If the patients do not immediately treat the disease for

the time being, with development of aseptic inflammation, a big adhesion

around shoulder joints forms, which will reduce the activity of the joints, and

finally disturbs their normal life because they can not raise and straighten

their arms. This sign is called “frozen shoulder”.

Scapuohumeral periarthritis(periarthritis of shoulder, frozen shoulder etc.)

(1) Major sign

Shoulder ache and limited movement of the joint. The pain may become

more serious during the night and sometimes accompanied with dragging pain

in the upper arm. The pain points often lie in the anterior, lateral and posterior

parts of the shoulder

(2) Position of the massage pads See the Fig.14

(3) Treatment

Apply one pad to the most sensible pain point and the other above it as

shown in Fig.12, treat in mode 1 and 3 for 30 minutes each.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principle for operation.

9. Sacro-iliac injury (1) Main signs

The patients, normally with traumatic record, have pain in the side of sacro-

iliac articulation. Their trunks incline to the tendon sides. The patients dare

not load and walk with the infected limbs, feel uneasy when lying on their

backs, find difficult to turn over, and can only sit on with their buttock on the

sides.

(2) Position of massage pads See the Fig.13

(3) Treatment

Apply the pads to the correct positions as

shown in Fig.13. Use mode 1 and mode 2 for 30

minutes each.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for treatment.

Fig.13

10. Pain in shoulder jointsShoulder joints are the most flexible joints with the largest scope of

movement. Movements and stability of shoulder joints depend upon the

muscles, tendon and ligament around shoulder joints. The muscles and

tendons around shoulder joints are easily to cause acute injury or chronic

strain because of their frequent movement.

III. Pain in the joints

Fig.14

1716

Page 13: TCM iMassager Instruction Manual 2011.6

(3) Treatment

Apply the pads to the pain point and the opposite. Treat in mode 2 for 30

minutes, then the mode 1 for 30 minutes.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for operation.

12. Pain in the wrist There are two reasons for the pain in the wrist joints:

(1) Acute injury

It is normally caused by trauma such as sprain or fall. The pain is notable

and pain point is fixed. Treatment upon the injury muse be complete, or it will

turn into chronic strain, which will affect the function of wrist.

(2) Chronic strain

Besides the transition from acute strain, a repetitive action (especially

under heavy load) for long time by wrist will cause aseptic inflammation in soft

tissue which is the major reason for pain in wrist joint.

A. Sprain and contusion of wrist joint:(1) Major signs

It is caused by acute injury. The position of pain lies normally in the medial

or lateral of the back of wrist with locally notable pressure pain, swelling and

inconvenient movement. It should be properly fixed within 24 hours, and cold

compress is applied. This instrument can not be used until 24 hours later.

(2) Position of massage pads

(Take the lateral back of wrist as an example) See the Fig.16

(3) Treatment

Apply one pad to the position of pain, apply the

other to the opposite position in the back. Take

mode 3 for treatment for 30 minutes, then mode 1

B. Treat in mode 3 and 1 for 30 minutes each. For pain in the lateral part of the

shoulder and below the deltoid muscle, apply the pads to point C. Treat in

mode 3 and 1 for30 minutes each.

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

②The strength of treatment for shoulder should be gradually increased, but

it should not be suddenly increased in order to avoid injury of soft tissue.

③Patients should exercise their shoulders for recovery of function during

the treatment.

④Patients should persist in treatment, for this disease has a long course to

go.

11. Pain in Elbow JointPain in elbow joint is mainly caused by acute or chronic strain of elbow soft

tissue. Owing to the special anatomical structure, the position of injury, i.e.

the pain point lies in the medial or lateral of elbow joint in the most cases when

people suddenly bend or straight their wrists, or when they carelessly injure

their elbow joints, or when they suffer chronic strain because of repeated

bending and straightening their wrists. Normally, the pain in the lateral is

caused by external humeral epicondylitis, and called tennis elbow. As well

while the pain in medial is caused by internal humeral epicondylitis and called

golf elbow as well. Now, we take tennis elbow as

an example to make the following introduction:

(1) Major signs

This disease is due to acute or chronic injury.

The hand can not hold with force, the elbow is

feeble. Noticeable pain is felt at the external

humeral epicondyle and the humeroradial joint.

Tennis elbow test shows positive.

for 30 minutes.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for treatment.

B. Tenosynovitis Stenosans (wrist ache)(1) Major signs

It is more likely to occur in females, due to knitting and sewing. Noticeable

pain is felt within pressure applied to the styloid process of radius; friction can

be felt when the thumb turns to the outside; and the pain gets more serious

more serious when the ulnar part of the wrist bends or turns.

13. Pain in the knee joints

Knee joint with the largest articular surface and the most complicated

structure of human body are particularly apt to be injured due to considerably

heavy load they bear.

The causes for pain in knee joint can be classified into two categories:

(1) Acute injury

The injury often happens to athletes and manual labors with knees as their

loading support. Such injury, normally with obviously traumatic record and an

obvious pain point, can cause sharp pain. It might become a chronic strain if

not to be treated timely.

(2) Chronic strain

Knee joints, playing an important role in walking and standing, can

retrograde degeneration by aging, e.g. hyperosteogny, chronic strain of soft

tissue and so on. These changes need a long period of time and are too slight

to be sensed by people, but this slight strain might cause a sudden case from

wind-chill, fatigue, cold or trauma, resulting in pain in knee, especially when

going up and down stairs, squatting or standing up. Its general designation is

called “degenerative arthritis”.

The reason for pain in knee joint lies in traumatic aseptic inflammation,

either acute injury or chronic strain.

Since the position of pathologic change is different for different person, the

position of pain is different as well. The following positions are classified as

“pain in Hsiyen”; “pain in the two sides of knee joint” and “pain around knee

cap”.

A. Pain in Hsiyen(1) Main diseases and signs

Main diseases in Hsiyen that cause pain:

hypertrophy of subpatellar fat; traumatic synovitis;

subpatellar synovitis and so on. Normally, they are

caused by swelling of acute injury or chronic strain.

The main symptoms are pain in knee joint,

tumefaction, difficult in moving and so on.

(2) Position of massage pads See the Fig.18

(3) Treatment

Apply the two pads to the Hsiyen of two knees,

use mode 1 and mode 3 for 30 minutes.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for operation.

Fig.18

2120

Page 15: TCM iMassager Instruction Manual 2011.6

(3) Treatment

Apply one pad to the medial, and the other to the lateral, use mode 1 and

mode 3 for 30 minutes. As for inflammation of apex patellae, one pad is

applied to the apex patellae, and other to the medial of knee-cap. Use mode 1

and mode 2 ”for 30 minutes each.

(4) Note

Follow the regular principles for operation.

14. Pain in ankle joints and painful heelsAnkle is a connection between feet and leg. The rear part of ankle is tendon

calcaneus which ends at heel.

Pain in ankle joint is normally caused by sprain of ankle, while pain in heel

is caused by chronic strain.

A. Acute strain of ankle joint (strain of ankle)(1) Major signs

A clear history of sprain, the pain point often appears in the lower front of

lateral malleolus. Some patients may have

ecchymoma, swelling, serious pain and

difficulty in walking.

(2) Position of the massage pads See

the Fig.21

(3) Treatment

Apply one pad to the pain point and the

other to the opposite side as shown in

Fig.21 and treat in mode 1 and 3 for 30

minutes each.

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

②For acute injury, treatment should not be given until 24 hours later.

B. Pain in the medial and lateral knee joint(1) Major diseases and Signs

Main diseases that cause the pain are injury of lateral and medial accessory

ligaments of knee joint and injury of lateral and medial meniscus of knee joint.

These two diseases are normally caused by acute

strain. Therefore, a clear diagnosis must be

made, and an exact pain point must be fixed.

(2) Position of massage pads See the Fig.19

(3) Treatment

Apply the two pads to the knee joint, one to the

medial and other to the lateral. Use mode 1 and

mode 3 for 30 minutes each.

(4) Notes

①Follow the regular principles for operation.

②A patient with acute injury should not use the

instrument until 24 hours later.

③The patient who suffers cross-locking caused

by laceration of meniscus should go to hospital.

C. Pain around knee-cap(1) Main diseases and signs

Both chondromlacia patellae and inflammation of

apex patellae can cause pain around knee-cap.

Normally, chondromlacia patellae causes pain in the

edge of medial and lateral knee cap, while inflammation

of apex patellae causes pain in the lower edge of knee

cap.

(2) Position of massage pads See the Fig.20

pathologic joints, refering to the above-mentioned treatment.

Generally, apply the pads to the position where pain lies.B. Pain in heel (posterior of heel)(1) Major signs

Patients have pain or pressure pain in heel with slight swelling. The pain

becomes serious when walking or standing for long time, and not so painful

after taking a break.

(2) Position of massage pads See the Fig.22

(3) Treatment

Apply one of the two pads to the heel, the other

the rear or the lateral. Treat in mode 1 and mode 3

for 30 minutes each.

(4) Notes

① Follow the regular principles for treatment.

② Put the feet in hot-water for 20-40 minutes every day.

③ Place soft shoe-pads inside shoes when walking.

15. Rheumatism and rheumatic arthritisThe major signs of rheumatic arthritis are: wandering polyarticular pain

(“Pain goes everywhere” in common saying); normally pain at the same time

in the medial and lateral of big joints like knee, ankle, shoulder, wrist, elbow

and hip. The joints become red, hot and swelling when pain appears. But no

suppuration in the joints will occur, and normally it will not cause the joints

teratogenesis later.

Rheumatic Arthritis is mainly characterized by chronic symmetrical

polyarticular pain with wandering pain. The small joints of two hands are apt to

be attacked by this disease. This disease has a long period of time, and

breaks out repeatedly. The small joints might become teratogenesis later if

not to be treated timely.

Treating the above disease with this instrument can alleviate pain, dispel

swelling and make joints agile. For the concrete treatment of various

Periphery Nerve Injury is a general description of nerve and nerve

constitution lying in the whole body including 12 pairs of cranial nerves, 31

pairs of spiral nerves and autonomic nerves.

Periphery nerve controls the limbs in normal movements. The limbs will not

be able to move partially or wholly once they are injured. Therefore, the

injured periphery nerve should be treated as earlier as possible in order to

achieve the best recovery. At the same time, attention should be paid to

recovering the function of joints and muscles.

All patients of injured periphery nerve who need not have operations or

need a postoperative restoration stage can use this instrument.

16. Facial paralysis(1) Major signs

Paralysis in facial muscles is caused by periphery nerve injury in one side.

Facial muscle activities are lost, the mouth corner drops, the diseased part of

the face twists towards the opposite side. The patient has difficulty protruding

his lips and whistling.

(2) Position of the massage pads. See the

notes

(1) Major signs

Paralysis in one side of the body due to cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral

embolism and cerebral thrombosis. In the early stage (the first 3 weeks) after

the attack, the patient has dyscinesia, myasthenia and flaccid paralysis in one

side of the body. Then, comes the restoration stage (3 weeks to one year after

attack). In this period, the diseased side of the body begins to make

movements which are active but not normal, showing spastic paraplegia.

(2) Determination of the time to start treatment

①The early stage (flaccid paralysis). When the patient is under a stable

condition well out of danger and has a clear sense, treatment can start with

therapy A under the guidance of the doctor until the diseased limbs are

capable of active movements

②Restoration stage (spastic paraplegia). Treatment with therapy B can be

given when the diseased limbs of the patient are capable of active

movements.

microcirculation, releasing adhesion, loosing joints and relieving pain.

Mode 2:Acupuncture therapy. Good effect of relaxing muscles, removing

fatigue, accelerating microcirculation and relieving pain. Acupuncture

corresponds directly to the energy meridians. It regulates the physiological

activity of the meridian channels and collateral, by balancing the “Yin and

Yang”, adjusting the “Qi and blood” and preventing pathological changes. It is

one of the most effective ways to unblock energy flow to restore body to a

state of balanced Qi like energy boost.

Mode 4:Guasha is a special physical therapy. Good effect of improving Qi

flow and blood circulation, balancing yin and yang, strengthening the anti-

pathogenic Qi, removing pathogenic factors, discharging or draining stagnant

toxins, clearing heat, opening the orifices, and refreshing the mind.

Biomedical studies show that Guasha therapy can directly stimulate

subcutaneous peripheral nerves, improve local circulation of blood and lymph

fluid, speed up the metabolism, promote nutritional supply, regulate immune

function through the nerve-endocrine immunoregulation network and

facilitate the body's defensive abilities. This, thereby, improves the

pathological state and suppresses the pathological process.

Page 22: TCM iMassager Instruction Manual 2011.6

② The different electric resistance in the two positions of skin gives

patients different feelings, the weak resistance gives patients intensive

feeling.

③ Maybe, one of the massage pads is not properly placed.

5.Where should the massage pads be applied during

operation?①First apply the massage pads to “pain point” for treatment.

② If the most stimulated position felt by patients is not the most painful

position in normal times, the position must be timely regulated.

③ No matter how many times, the most painful position in normal times

should be chosen as the final point to be stimulated.

6. Why is the effect not so striking after a certain period of

time?①The position for treatment is not correctly chosen. Determine the exact

pain point.

② The therapeutic strength is not strong enough. Increase it to the most

strength which patients can bear.

③The therapeutic duration is not enough. 2-3 times a day, 40-60minutes a

time, and 10 days every course of treatment

④ The wave mode is not properly chosen. Normally, mode 1 is firstly

chosen.

7. Why should it be applied where it pains?①Pains in neck, shoulders, back, waist, legs and joints are mainly caused

by local soft tissue injury.

②The traditional Chinese medicine goes, “pain point is shu”, “shu” means a

therapeutic position or and acupoint in Chinese.

circulation, and help the elimination of the toxins within the human body.

Mode 6: Combination. Relax muscle and relieve the muscular spasm.

2. How long does it take to effect a cure by TCM iMassager?① It can cure pains in neck, shoulders, waist and joints

② Different people (with different types of pain, conditions of pain and

duration of pain) take different therapeutic duration for cure. Normally , the

duration by TCM iMassager is no much different from the duration by a

masseur in a hospital.

③ Every course of treatment takes 10 days, 2-3 times everyday, 40-60

minutes every time, and strength should be as strong as possible.

3.Can patients suffering heart disease and hypertension use

TCM iMassager?① Patients with cardiac pacemakers are prohibited from using TCM

iMassager.

②No problem will arise when it is used for limbs, joints and waist

③ In the beginning, the strength should not be strong. The strength can be

gradually increased when patients get used to it, but the extent of strength

should not make a patient feel a bit of unwell.

④Operate according to the acupoints shown in the operation manual. It has

a certain curative effect on heart disease and hypertension.

4.During operation, the two massage pads sometimes give

patients different feelings, ie, one appears heavy and the

other light, why? ① The different strength of self-muscular contraction in the two positions

gives different feelings, the strong contraction gives patients intensive

feeling.
