“I’ve moved over 30 times. I still get that little “moving virus” every two years.” Jeremy
“We’ve owned 14 dogs in my life. Every time we leave, the dog stays behind with a new family.” Laurie
“We were so confused, my friend and I. We thought we were home. What we didn’t understand is that neither of us were home.” Melinda
“One day, I had to leave. I had to go back home.”
Where is home?
We could fly before we could walk…
…we sort our friends by continent,
but can't answer the question "Where are you from?"
without pause…
…we are both a part of - and apart from -
whatever situation we are in…
…we’ve given up the security of roots and a hometown…
unequal to anywhere else…
…in exchange for opportunities
and from everywhere…
…from nowhere
…an unknown, silent connection bonding us together, whether strangers or best friends…
…part of a third culture...
a wandering world where everyone’s lives are intertwined…
…spending life in a culture that is not our home culture...
…relating to all cultures, while not fully owning one…
…sharing the same sense of wandering…
…and the constant need to say goodbye.
