Ask a question to yourself some day that can systems and procedures stop any incident/accident happening to you? Or your supervisor or safety officer alone can stop any accident? Definitely the answer is NO. Because systems and procedures can only protect you from accidents when you follow them during your daily routine jobs, and same goes to the supervisors & safety staff as they can guide you and train you for the job but the bottom line is that it is only you who can protect yourself and your coworkers from any accident by working safely as per systems and procedures.
TAKE CARE OF FOLLOWING!
KNOW YOUR JOB – Skilled workers are always needed, follow instructions and work safely.
USE THE RIGHT TOOLS – Be sure they are in good condition, inspected & color coded.
KEEP YOUR WORK AREA CLEAN AND ORDERLY – Keep walkways clear and free of material, orderliness is a sign of a safe and efficient worker
USE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT – Wear the equipment provided, use head, foot, and ear and eye protection.
HANDLE MATERIALS SAFELY - know the correct way of lifting loads
ABOUT LADDERS AND SCAFFOLDS – Practice 100% tie-off while working above 1.8 meters. Report defective ladders, face the ladder when going up or down; keep scaffold platforms clear of excess scrap.
USE CARE AROUND EQUIPMENT – Never operate power driven equipment unless authorized/certified to do so. Never ride on equipment which is not designed for that purpose.
DRESS FOR THE JOB – Loose or ragged clothing should not be worn as it could be caught in moving parts of the equipment.
FOLLOW THE RULES – Safety rules are for your protection, report unsafe act and conditions.
IF YOU DO GET HURT – Get first aid immediately, report the accident to your foreman.
