Prophet Mohammad (SAW)As Change Agent

Page 2: Tazkirahleadershipweek7

It is agreed upon, even by non-Muslims, that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him).

Is the most influential person throughout history. He was raised in a community that worshipped several idols, but he never followed the footsteps of his people. From his early childhood, he resorted to meditation inside a cave called Hira'. At the age of 40, he received a Revelation from Allah, which marked the first and most revolutionary change in his life. Upon receiving the Revelation, he felt the responsibility to share it with others, and he was commanded by Allah to convey it to all people.

Everyone will enjoy the credit of his deeds and suffer the debits of his evil-doings. The believers say: "Our Rabb ! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Rabb ! Do not place on us a burden as You placed on those before us. Our Rabb ! Lay not on us the kind of burden that we have no strength to bear. Pardon us, Forgive us, Have mercy on us. You are our Protector, help us against the unbelievers." ( 2: 286)

Managing Change through Incremental approachAny task given shall be bring up progressively, according to his or her capability. We must not shy away from any responsibility because Allah has promised them that any test they go through shall not exceed their capabilities.

Change: Mission of All Prophets

In order for change to have an impact on people, the Prophet started with his own family, then he addressed the people of Makkah and surrounding areas, until his Message expanded to reach the whole world. We read in the Qur'an the following verses:

1. (And warn your tribe of near kindred) (Ash-Shu`araa' 26:214),

2. (That you may warn the Mother of Villages (i.e., Makkah) and those around it) (Al-An`am 6: 92), and

3. (We sent you only as a mercy for the worlds (Al-Anbiyaa' 21:107).

HADITH ON CHANGE LEDERSHIP

“Each of you is a shepherd, and all of you are responsible for your flocks.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari, Saheeh Muslim)

Leaders should inform their subordinated the intention of change

And their roles on it.

When three persons go on a journey, let them put one of their number in command." (Abu Da'ud on the authority of Abu Sa'id)

For any new changes to be made, the leader must appoint a team and

Select the suitable leader to the team.

“Seek knowledge from the Cradle to the Grave “Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

The leader shall encourage their followers to continue seeking knowledge so that they are ready for the change at any time.
