Home to a few of Houston’s largest festivals, Eleanor Tinsley Park transforms into an iconic spot for public gatherings and entertainment. With the downtown skyline as its backdrop, this site has the potential to become a year round destination for popular music festivals and public entertainment of all sizes. The AMP Theater can transform to accomodate both intimate indoor and larger outdoor performances, as well as allowing space for public gatherings. Hidden beneath the ground exists a water reservoir providing an endless array of spacious qualities to an otherwise flat surface creating a unique experience within downtown Houston.

The theater is raised above the cistern as a separation of space between indoor and outdoor functions.

The site above the cistern creates an open landscape for outdoor performances. The void exists below the theater so people can see down into the cistern from above.

The AMP Theater can transform from indoor to outdoor performances using the same stage that is closed off by a nana wall system. This wall acts as a white wall projection screen for outdoor film festivals.

Calle Morande 707 is just one of a series of proposals exploring the challenges of a mixed-use building type in downtown Santiago. The program consists of ground-level retail spaces, and two bedroom units designed for the possibility of renting out one of the bedrooms independently for office or residential use.

La Puerta is the connecting bridge between the Barcelona Port to the city itself. The concept unites the three grids that occur within the city of Barcelona. The medieval Roman city is transformed to create the entrance pavilion that one will have to encounter when walking along the bridge. The grids of the Barceloneta and the l’Eixample expasnions create the basis for the two connecting plazas. People can experience these transformations of grwoth through images projected on the fabric walls of the pavilion.

This housing prototype creates a sustainable solution for the colonias along the south western border of the United States. These colonias are characterized by a lack of infrastructure, such as sewage, road systems, no authorized land ownerships, and extreme poverty. Sunland Park is just one of over one-hundred designated colonias along the New Mexico/Mexico border. This home provides families with a sustainable solution to living in such conditions through the use of water harvesting, solar/wind energy, and passive systems to provide comfortability to each family. Each home is also built as a two bedroom unit with the opportunity for future expansion.

Wind EnergyAn average wind speed of 20 mph allows for more power to generate throughout the home.

Natural VentilationClerestory windows exist on the north and south walls for air circulation throughout the home.

Thermal HeatRammed earth is a readily available material in Dona Ana County and will store heat during the winter for interior warmth.

Water HarvestingThe butterfly roof allows for a collection of rain-fall into a small tank that can store enough water for 200 days out of the year.
