The Tata Group of companies operate in seven business
sectors: communications and information technology,
engineering, materials, services, energy, consumer
products and chemicals.
The total revenue of Tata companies taken together
was US$100.09 bn in 2011/12, with 58 per cent of this
coming from businesses outside India; 450,000 people
are employed worldwide.
Every Tata company or enterprise operates independently,
each with its own Board of Directors and shareholders.
The Tata name has been respected for over 140 years,
due to its adherence to strong values and business ethics.
Tata companies have always believed in returning wealth
to the society they serve. Two-thirds of the equity of Tata
Sons, the Tata promoter company, is held by philanthropic
trusts, which support a wide range of causes.

Our investments and partners
We recently announced a joint venture with Starbucks,
named Tata Starbucks Limited, to own and operate Starbucks
cafs in India, beginning with Mumbai. Tata Coffee will also
roast coffee to supply Tata Starbucks Limited, and to export
to Starbucks Coffee Company.
We have formed a joint venture company, named NourishCo
Beverages Limited, with PepsiCo India, to focus on the healthy,
non-carbonated, ready-to-drink beverage space. HimalayanWater, our premium lifestyle mineral water has entered the
joint venture. Tata Gluco Plus and Tata Water Plus have recently
been launched.
We hold an equity stake in Rising Beverages LLC, which
manufactures and markets a range of vitamin and flavour-
enhanced water in the US, using unique powder dispensing
technology, under the Activate brand.
We have a joint venture with Joekels Tea Packers (Pty) blenders
and packers of some of South Africas most popular household
quality tea brands such as Laager and Tea Time.

Our evolution timeline
BrandsWe have a portfolio of strong global and regional
brands with Tata Tea and Tetley the key drivers
of our global presence. Our strategy is to invest
in our core brands and grow and nurture our
regional brands, whilst building new and
exciting ones.
Products and innovationOur portfolio of brands has developed further
into cold beverages, such as Tetley Infusions
and Tetley Cold, with a growing presence in
coffee and water. We are challenging the way
customers perceive the beverage space and
aim to change the way the world drinks.
SustainabilityOur mission and business approach place
sustainability at the core of our strategy and we
have identified four core issues to direct our
sustainability agenda: ethical sourcing, climate
change, packaging and water.
