Different Roles

Medical assistants play an important part in smooth running of medical centres, doctors, clinics. They play an important role in performing administrative duties which vary from offices and states. Following are different roles that medical assistants play:

Clerical Medical Assistant:

This job involves answering phone calls, sorting mails, typing letters, greeting patients and maintaining the appointments. This is proper setting to that of office secretary.

Clinical Assistants:

Taking the medical history chart, helping patients in their medical examinations, explaining procedures to patients, sterilization of medical supply, collecting of lab specimen.

Administrative Assistants:

Arrangement of hospital visits, patient files, medical forms, tests for patients, etc. the billing role and bookkeeping is also done by assistants in some clinics.

Specialized Assistants:

The assistants working in specialized areas like working with ophthalmologists, podiatrists, carry different casts like correct usage of lenses and feet casting. Testing the lab specimen and other laboratory tasks are also carried out by specialized assistants.
