TASK 3: Store and present your digital entry
• Task 3A: You will need to store your files, so they can
be easily located.
• Task 3B: Present your final product for the competition
entry in an appropriate format.

• Task 3A: Tips
• Create a Main folder to save all the images to used in the advert
e.g: “Advert”
• Create subfolders to save the downloaded images and edited images
e.g: Create two folders and name them as “Original” and “Edited”
• Give meaningful names for the images that describe its content
e.g: “SuspensionBridge”, “Logo”
• Explain the file formats used. Give reasons for the selection of formats used
e.g: JPEG/ GIF/ PSD/TIFF etc.
• Describe how you achieved the above including print screens for evidence.

Task 3B
File Formats• If the images are for the Web or
online, use JPEG, PNG, or GIF (Compressed, quality loss).
• If you want to keep a version that remains editable, choose your software's native file format. (PSD for Photoshop)
• If the images are for print, use TIFF.

Task 3B
File Formats - JPEG
• JPEG is best for photos when you need to keep the file size small and don't mind giving up some quality for a significant reduction in size.
• JPEG is not suitable for images with text, large blocks of colour, or simple shapes, because crisp lines will blur and colours can shift.

File Formats: TIFF (Tagged Image File Format)
• TIFF is good for any type of bitmap (pixel-
based) images.
• TIFF produces high quality large files.
• TIFF also preserves layers, alpha transparency,
and other special features when saved from
Photoshop.

File Formats: PSD/ PDD (Photoshop Document)
• PSD is Photoshop's native format.
• Use PSD when you need to preserve layers (such as for
editing images) transparency, adjustment layers,
masks, clipping paths, layer styles, blending modes,
vector text and shapes, etc.

• Describe the file size, resolution, output medium and use of
colours to meet the requirements of the client.
• Describe how the final output will be presented showing the
completed advert. Printed medium or digital medium?

Task 3A
Choose the Correct Photoshop Mode: Index Color, RGB, CMYK
• The CMYK colour model (four colour) used in colour printing, and
is also used to describe the printing process itself.
• CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) mode is used for final
separations for the press.
• Look closely at anything printed in color and you may see the
CMYK colors that created it.
