Camera Angles Mise en scene Editing Sound Theory
Rock-Nickelback; How you remind me(Lip sync, with some cross cutting to narrative)
-Close ups; Of band members and the instruments.-Camera movement;Always panning, gives impression that they are drunk or on drugs.
-Clothing; Dark, black jackets etc.-Dark lighting-Rough setting-Facial expressions; Angry
-Special effects; black and grey filter.-Cutting; Doesn’t match visuals, not smooth. Almost like the song, muddled.
-All non-diegetic score, no sound effects etc.
Richard Dyer; Goes against theory, rain and very dark colours used.Rick Altman; Props used match genre, guitars, drums etc.
Pop- Donkeyboy; Ambitions(Narrative Structure, with lip sync)
-Camera movement; Always panning, zooming & hand-held mostly used.
-High budget; Setting etc. Mainstream for pop videos.
-Cross cutting; between narrative and lip sync.-Special effects; lens flare, particles.
-Sound effects/ambient sound; backstage
-Rick Altman; Props used we would associate with pop videos and the element of cheesy transitions.-Andrew Goodwin; Relationship between music and visuals.
Indie Rock- The Black Keys; Tighten up(Narrative Structure)
-Wide shot; establishes the scene.-Panning; Walking with Dab/Son-Hand-Held camera at fight scene; gritty realism.-Framing and focusing; Important parts soft focus, the rest is deep focus.
-Soft lighting.-Setting; A park.-The costume; Same style for men & sons, optimizes the relationship roles of the modern day man and woman.
-Long takes.-Straight cuts.-Jump cuts at ‘lost lover scene’.-Short takes at fight scene.
-Intro, Dialogue-Ambient sound; The sound of birds, we would associate with the countryside.-Synchronous sound with editing.

Rap- Akon; Smack that(Narrative)
-Lots of close ups, follows theory.-Low angle, shows power
-Clothing; Chains/’bling’, follows Altman’s theory of rap videos.
-Fade out-Les flare effect as layer
Dialogue; “Hey convict”, shows youth crime and stereotype of black people (in jail, crime ridden)

Dance- Swedish House Mafia; Greyhound(All narrative, no words in song)
-Not many ECU of faces, mainly close ups-Hand-held cameras
