Task 10 Evaluation

For my exhibition I chose to use macro and abstract photos, for macro I got close up shots of insects,

flowers and others. And with abstract I was going to take photos that looked upside-down but aren't. But

other random photos I took around school turned out to be really nice as well so I used one of them

Area

The biggest place I got inspiration from was from the internet, the upside-down photos were

something I found on it a while ago and I remembered them and I thought they would be a

good idea. The macro photos of the insects and flowers I got inspiration from national geographic.

Inspiration

To take my photos I used and 1100D and 600D canon cameras. I also needed props for certain

photos, like the upside-down ones I needed some sort of wall and props like a stool or a bin to make it

look upsidedown.

Equipment

I edited all my photos, some drastically and some only slightly

Photos

This photo is only slightly edited, cropped so the image is more

focused on me and matt

This is one of the images I edited

the most, I brightened the

image of the flower and made

the background mono-chrome

Here is another one of the more edited images. I have intensified

how green Jordan's eye is a

lot and made the background black

and white so it stands out more

This photo I didn’t edit too much, I

just brightened it a bit so you could

see the bees colour more

easily

Part 2

Abstract This one of my favourite photos, one of the “fake

upside-down” ones. I think it looks really good and me and Matt posed for it well.

However you can see the bin coming off the wall

showing that it is not really that way up and also you

can see the window legdges which ruins it a little bit

Macro/AbstractI like this photo because you

can see the detail of the flower and because the background is black and

white, the flour stands out more. However, because

the background is like that it is hard to see it which is a

problem.

MacroThis photo is good because of the intensity of green in

the eye, it looks good but you can see me taking the picture in the reflection of

the eye which is not very good.

Macro I like this photo because It

really gets the detail of the bee, however I think the

light intensity takes detail away from the background

AbstractThis photo is strange, which is why its interesting, I think

the because it had just rained and the light that

was coming through made this picture look good, but I made the light too intense

and so the photo lost detail

AbstractThis is another of the fake

“upside-down” photos and I think it is done well because

of the different props used like the stool. However

Jordan's face gives it away because of his eyes being

closed and it would be better if they weren't

ConclusionOverall I am very pleased with my photos. I think they all work well and are all clear enough to see (not very blurry). I planned to have all these photos from the start except the one of the two kids on the tennis court, this photo was just taken randomly while we were out taking our pictures and I thought that it was interesting. I had never really used a good camera like I did for this project and have learnt many things. How to capture close up images with good detail (the bee photo), all the different types of shots you take with the different settings on the camera and improved on focusing the camera to get try and get the best possible definition on an image. If I did this project again I would change a few things. I would spend more time trying to get the best possible detail on each photo and I would decrease the intensity of light in some of the photos like the bee one and the one with the kids because it is a bit distracting

Overall my feedback was generally quite good. The most favourite photo (not by much as the “votes”

were all very spread across each photo) was the photo of the green eye. I was told that I need to make the

theme I using more clear as some people did not understand that it was meant to be macro as well.

People told me they like my photos but I should have played around with effects more and that I could have

cropped the photos more so the main part of the photo was the focus of the whole image.
