From my research I have discovered that both men and women listen to EDM. This will influence my decisions as I will aim to target both genders in an attempt for the video to be both relatable and enjoyable for men and women. In doing this I may consider using equal numbers of female and male actors in the video to be proportionate to viewers. One way to attract male audience members may be to incorporate aspects of the male gaze, such as having females in suggestive clothing, however this objectification may be offensive to some women and as I wish to also attract a female audience I will attempt to make my video feminist, potentially by having the protagonist to be the female, or equally the antagonist and prove that you can have all types of women represented in the media just like you can have all types of men. These statistics are very similar to what I have found in my primary research into target audience.

I then discovered that all ages above 6 years old listen to EDM, however the largest age group that are listeners of EDM are between 18 and 24. I will use this information when casting my actors for my music video and choosing certain themes and conventions as I wish to predominantly target 18 to 24 but equally appeal appropriately to the other age groups. This means I will most likely cast actors within this age group so that they can be relatable to the audience. Similarly, I will construct situations and relationships that are linked to the age group and use locations typically associated with them. However, I will not include anything inappropriate that would put off any other ages that also enjoy EDM. Equally I could challenge stereotypes within this age group and create a video that does not include stereotypical locations and actions.

This research proves that a variety of people listen to EDM and therefore I will not need to cater for specific interests and include particular codes and conventions yet make it relatable to society as a whole. This may mean I choose a very stereotypical narrative or challenge stereotypes.

Although this may not be a 100% reliable source, it still reflects some of the statistics and percentages from my own primary research. It also guides some of my decisions surrounding the construction of my music video as it gives me a rough insight into my target audience, and this accompanied by the more specific information I collected directly from my target audience, I can shape my video in a way that will appeal to my audience.
