WATER TREATMENT

BOILER SEQUENCING

A steam boiler is just one part of an often complex and well engineered steam system that requires the correct ancillary equipment to ensure process uptime and system longevity.

For systems with little or no condensate return, a self-acting steam heating

system is supplied.

This reduces dissolved oxygen and the possibility of thermal shock.

A comprehensive level control system is supplied with all feedwater tanks,

to maintain a predetermined water level and minimum flow rate for water

softeners.

All feed water tanks are configured to site-specific condition in relation to

process demand and condensate return.

Water level controls, steam injection systems, atmospheric deaerator heads and tank insulation jackets are optional

and can be supplied to complement your system.

TANKS & VESSELS

THE OPTIMUM DELIVERY OF FEEDWATER, COLLECTION OF CONDENSATE

AND BLOWDOWN OF A BOILER IS ESSENTIAL TO THE CORRECT

OPERATION OF A STEAM SYSTEM.

The most common form of water pre-treatment is water softening. The treated water contains only

non-hardness forming salts.

The Fulton Duplex range of water softeners are fully rechargeable and

using the two vessel system can supply constant, uninterrupted, treated

feedwater to the boiler.

Designed to reduce the pressure of the blowdown discharge from the

boiler to atmospheric pressure, blowdown vessels also reduce the blowdown discharge to drain to

acceptable temperatures for compliance to water by-laws (a water cooling system may need to be fitted).

Fulton’s blowdown vessels are designed and built to BS EN 13445 and

comply with BG03; and available in three sizes from 15 to 210 litres.

In order to ensure the safe, efficient and economical running of a boiler plant, it

is imperative that the boiler feedwater is sampled for analysis at regular intervals.

The Fulton water sample cooler has been designed to facilitate the

monitoring of the boiler water to be taken from the boiler in a safe manner.

The Sample Cooler cools the boiler water to an appropriate temperature for safe

handling and accurate analysis.

Impurities within boiler feedwater can cause problems with the

efficiency of steam boilers and steam systems. It is usually necessary to

chemically treat feedwater to remove or modify impurities.

Fulton’s chemical dosing sets dose chemicals into either the condensate

return/feedwater tank or boiler feedwater line.

WATER TREATMENT

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT PROPER WATER TREATMENT BE IMPLEMENTED AS

PART OF THE DESIGN TO MINIMISE CORROSION AND DEPOSITION,

IMPROVE EFFICIENCY AND PROLONG THE LIFE OF THE BOILER.

According to HSE INDG-436 and BG04, a steam boiler’s feedwater must meet the manufacturer’s guidelines.

BOILER SEQUENCING

FOR STEAM SYSTEMS USING MULTIPLE BOILERS, BOILER SEQUENCING

SAVES ENERGY AND COSTS BY REGULATING HOW EACH OPERATES TO

MATCH STEAM LOAD REQUIREMENTS.

SCOPE is Fulton’s own intelligent boiler sequencing system that provides redundancy and reliability to offer significant savings by

automating start-up and shut-down procedures, controlling and optimising main

steam header pressure or temperature, ensuring steam supply is controlled precisely for the required process.
