  • Workshop Overview

Led by a highly experienced Master Mariner, this course will provide an in-depth understanding of vetting inspections under the OCIMF SIRE programme for oil tankers, complementing it with navigational audits that will further improve on overall vessel condition.

Participants will be taken through the details and aspects of tanker vetting and what ship inspectors will be looking for in their inspections. To begin with, a comprehensive background of SIRE and OCIMF will be discussed to provide solid context to participants regarding the nature of the inspections. Rules and regulations such as ISGOTT, International Rules, and VIQ will be covered.

Each aspect of the vessel is covered in detail with regards to what inspectors are looking for, what standards are expected, and the appropriate action recommended to correct anything found lacking. To complement this, third-party navigation audits are introduced to improve participants grasp of tanker safety and quality standards.

The trainer uses case studies and exercises along the way to cement participants newly-acquired skills and help them apply them to real situations. Equally as important, a look at the mindset of the inspector is given through the discussion of inspection reports, thus giving participants an additional boost in anticipating potential problems and correcting them beforehand.

At the completion of this course, participants will be familiar with the international standards for vessel management quality and be able to comply with TMSA. They will also be able to effectively implement corrective action plans in response to vetting reports.

    3 Marine Superintendents3 Marine Inspectors3 Marine Operations Managers3 Marine Surveyors3 Vetting Managers3 Fleet Managers3 Ship Masters3 Ship Offi cers3 Port & Terminal Offi cers

Why you cannot miss this event:

In the tanker industry, vetting inspections are a vital component of the vessel chartering process. Oil tanker charterers rely heavily on vetting inspection reports in order to ascertain the standards of quality and safety upheld by their chartered vessels. Tanker operators also utilize the inspection feedback to improve the quality assurance of their ships and foster operational excellence.

A solid appreciation of the practical details to look out for during inspections will allow charterers to prevent potential problems with using substandard ships and assist in making better-informed chartering decisions. With adequate preparations, shipowners can ensure a smoother inspection process and continuously improve quality standards.

As a bonus, this course is complemented by navigational audit knowledge to aid marine professionals who want to ensure the high quality and safety standards covered in the vetting inspections.

This course is highly recommended for all marine professionals who want to pursue excellence in terms of quality and safety standards in tanker inspections, and maintain top business performance.
