Simplify & Optimize Hardware Heterogeneity

Simplifying the way developers approach the development of next-generation applications based in heterogeneous hardware architectures, configurations

and software systems including heterogeneous clusters, chips and programmable logic devices

Developers need to fully understand, and use an

approach that abstracts, the nuances of different

hardware configurations and software systems (both

rapidly evolving).

Developers need ways to address additional difficulties

resulting from the heterogeneous system e.g. in

performance, security mixed- criticality and power

consumption.

An important step in software design for low power is

that software must correctly fitted to the capabilities of

the underlying (and heterogeneous) hardware.

Future application performance (and IT operations plans)

lie with not only efficient node-level execution but power

consumption as well.

TANGO

Toolbox Benefits

the Toolbox will help you control and

abstract underlying heterogeneous hardware

architectures, configurations and software systems

including heterogeneous clusters, chips and

programmable logic devices while providing tools to

optimize various dimensions of software design and

operations (energy efficiency, performance, data

movement and location, cost, time-criticality, security,

dependability on target architectures)

TANGO is

Open Source

and we are going to be involved

in SLURM, the Open Source

Community for HPC workload

manager

we want to involve users, system

administrators that manage advanced

workloads, organizations that have

advanced workload managers running on

their systems, and companies that provide

products and services based on Slurm to

test our technologies and tools

The TANGO project is being undertaken by global service provider Atos (Spain) and its subsidiary specialized in HPC,

Bull (France); the European company Deltatec (Belgium); and researchers from the University of Leeds (UK); the CETIC -

Centre d’Excellence en Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication (Belgium); and Barcelona Supercomputing

Center (Spain).
