After dropping the middle game, 7-6, Tampa secured its first series-win by claiming the rubber match, 4-3, on Sunday evening. RHP Rony Garcia held the Tortugas scoreless for 5.0IP (6H, 1BB, 6K) on Sunday, taking a no-decision. The Tarpons grabbed an early lead with a 2-run double by Dermis Garcia in the 1st. Isiah Gilliam added a solo homer (his 2nd) in the 6th before Daytona rallied for 3 runs in the home-half to tie the game, 3-3. Gilliam put Tampa back ahead for good with an RBI single in the 8th. RHP Kyle Zurak (SV, 2) collected his second save of the series by retiring all six batters he faced in the 8th and 9th. CLUTCH CABRERA: On Friday, Tampa broke a scoreless tie when Oswaldo Cabrera delivered a 2-out, 2-run single in the 6th. The 20-year-old also doubled in the 4th on Friday before adding two more hits on Saturday, giving him a team-leading six multi-hit games. Cabrera has hit safely in all but two games since the season began, batting .378 (14-for-37) with a .452 OBP in 10 games. SO CLOSE: All of Tampa's seven losses have been by two runs-or-less, including three one-run defeats. PITCHING PROSPECTS: The Tarpons open the season with three Top-30 New York Yankees prospects in the starting rotation: RHP Deivi Garcia (No. 4 MLB/No. 6 BA), RHP Clarke Schmidt (No. 5 MLB/No. 12 BA) and RHP Glenn Otto (No. 26 MLB/--BA). NEW SKIPPER IN TOWN: Aaron Holbert begins his fourth season in the Yankees organization and his first as a coach after spend- ing the last three seasons as a professional scout. Prior to joining the Yankees, Holbert was Manager of Double-A Mississippi (Braves) from 2012-15. In that span, the Southern California native led the club to two postseason appearances, including a record of 83-56 that paced the Southern League in 2014. Prior to Mississippi, Holbert managed Single-A Advanced Kinston (Indians) in 2010 and 2011. Kinston made the playoffs in both seasons and Holbert was named Carolina League Manager of the Year in 2011. Holbert began coaching in the Reds organization in 2006 before landing his first managerial position with Single-A Lake County (Indians) in 2008. The club went 146-131 over two seasons, including a postseason appearance in 2009. Originally drafted 18th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals out of high school in 1990, Holbert reached the major leagues with St. Louis (1996) and Cincinnati (2005) over a 16-year playing career, including stints with St. Louis, Seattle, Tampa Bay, Boston, Florida, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Cincinnati. MIGLIACCIO/MAHONEY JOIN COACHING STAFF: Hitting Coach Joe Migliaccio (Mig-lee-AH-chee-oh) begins his first season in the Yankees organization. The 28-year-old served in the same role at the University of Iowa in 2018 following coaching stints at Murray State (2017-18), Missouri (2016-17), Southeast Missouri State (2015-16) and Siena College (2014-15). As a graduate assis- tant at Missouri, Migliaccio helped guide the Tigers to their best record (36-23) since 2008. Prior to coaching, Migliaccio was an infielder at Florida International (2009-10), Parkland College (2010-12) and Oral Roberts (2012-14). The West Melbourne, Florida native graduated cum laude from Oral Roberts in 2014 with a degree in recreation admin- istration with a minor in humanities. He earned his master's degree in education from Missouri in 2018. Defensive Coach Kevin Mahoney enters his fifth season in the Yankees organization and his first with Tampa after serving in the same role in 2018 with the GCL Yankees East. Mahoney was the hitting coach for short-season Single-A Staten Island in 2017 and Rookie-level Pulaski in 2016 after making his coaching debut in the GCL in 2015.
