Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us. Wishing you a wonderful holiday Season and a Happy New Year 2011.

I pray goddess vasavamba will shower health, happiness and prosperity on all of you and your families. We are going to have our annual carnival on 8th January 2012 at Ethiraj Kalyanana Mandapam. The much awaited inauguration of the youth wing is going to happen in our carnival. I hope you all will come and participate in the function and let's have a day of fun and enjoyment together.

Festive Greetings ! In the calendar year , the last 3 months are always the most awaited months , its festival time . We had several moments to cherish and lot of program's for our Mahila's .

Our mahilas actively participated in our Navarathri celebrations and Karthika Somavara Pooja and also contributing to our health awareness program's - Orthopedic and Blood detection camp.

On the Children's day, we had shared our joy and happiness and had celebrated the day with lots of fun and frolic. The gala coffee morning Akarshana -2011,'VAIBHAVI' had reverberated our basic instincts .

We have several moments , happenings and achievements to share with you in this newsletter and Please do not miss our detail on our forthcoming exciting carnival.

Recent Event NAVARATHRI CELEBRATIONS

Auspicious Navarathri indicates the onset of the festive mood among us , the colorful Kolu in steps and Goddess Sarawathi Pooja . Our Navarathri celebrations was held at Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Devasthanam on the first day of Navarathri, on September 28, 2011. Special abhishekam was done to the Goddess Vasavamba and Our Chairperson Mrs. P. ORTHOPAEDIC CAMP

Old age and malnutrition among men and women has an impact on the bone strength of an individual. Our sabha had organized an Orthopedic camp at Housing Board colony, Dr.Thomas Road, T.Nagar, Chennai on October 2, 2011 . The camp was conducted by Dr.S.Ramesh Babu, M.D.,Spot Hospital, Chennai with his team of doctors .We had 110 ladies registering for

the check up and medication .Free medicines, consultation, BMD test and orthopedic advice were some of the services provided to them. Our Member Mrs. T. Vijayalakshmi distributed chocolates to everyone on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.

KARTHIKA SOMAVARA POOJA

Karthika Somavara Pooja was held at Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy Kovil, No.2.Thoppu Pillayar Koil Street, Periamet, Chennai on November 28,2011 at 10.00am . Special Abhishekam and pooja was performed to Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy. Nelli Chettu Pooja was performed and Vishnu Sahasranamam was chanted by our mahilas. Prasadam was distributed to all the devotees. Mrs.Shantha Sridhar donated the vastras for Perumal and Mrs.Padma Preetha Sumanth and Mrs. Calve Sumathi Ramakrishnan donated sarees for Goddess Sridevi and Goddess Bhudevi.

All of us are aware that the birth date of Sri Jawaharlal Nehru , the first Prime minister of India is celebrated as the Children's Day and this day is most waited by all the children in their schools .

We celebrated the day among children at Sri Venkateshwara Telugu School, Nungambakkam, Chennai on November 11, 2011 . Several games were conducted for the children , they participated enthusiastically and bagged lot of prizes, sponsored by Mr. Anupam and Mr. Sudarshan.

Biscuits, Chocolates, Soyvita health drink packets were distributed to all the children. The mahilas who participated in this celebration are Mrs. Padma Preetha Sumanth, Mrs. Prabha Kumar, Mrs. Shantha Sridhar, Mrs. Ranjani Narayanan, Mrs. Sasikala, Mrs. Renuka Kumar and Mrs. Shantha Kumari Venkatakrishna.

CHILDREN'S DAY

Our Mahilas were overwhelmed to be at Hotel Rain

Tree, Chennai on October 13, 2011 in the morning, It was

our most awaited Coffee Morning “Vaibhavi ”, Akarashana

2011. The venue looked extraordinary with our mahilas in

good spirits. It was beauty, fame and fun all the way. Miss.

Akshaya , cine actress was the chief guest and Mr.Siva

karthikeyan , Vijay television fame was the anchor for the

fun . Various exhibitors showcased their multi product

portfolio to the gathering.

The games conducted by Mr.Sivakarthikeyan had

participants from the old and the young and his special

mimicry performance was enjoyed by all.

The coffee morning had lot of prizes to be won from the

Tambola conducted by Oriflame and beauty quiz. We had a

talent show, surprise gifts and lucky draw.

We had an overwhelming response from our mahilas and

Mrs.Kalavathy won the early bird prize. We thank all our

Sponsors making this event a memorable one.

MEDICAL PROJECTS

Our sabha had initiated the disbursement of Medical donation in the Coffee Morning scheduled on October 13, 2011. The beneficiaries for the day were

1. Baby Jayashree received ̀ 5000/- towards cardio surgery.

2. Mr. P. Ravindra Chetty received ̀ 2000/- towards Orthopedic surgery.

3. Mr Sathyanarayana received ̀ 2000/- towards Open heart surgery.

Children's Day Endowment : Mrs. Manimalah - ` 1500/-

Free hemoglobin detection Camp was held to the students of class VI to class XII of

Kesari Higher Secondary School on 21st and 22nd November 2011.The camp was

conducted by Mr.Ramesh Irvatham, Irvatham Lab (Medall Health Care Private Ltd)

T. Nagar and free medicines was distributed to all the children by Medall Health Care

Private Ltd. Dr.Aruna gave a talk about the gynic problems faced by the girls at

teenage.
