WHO’S WHO IN THE CAST?

Christy Wilhelm (Stage Direction and Choreography) is delighted to be dipping her toe into the chilly waters of directing and choreographing Tamanend Players first ever Movie Production of Frozen Jr. Some favorite past shows at Tamanend include Crazy for You, Anything Goes, and 42nd Street. Mrs. Wilhelm loves to dance (especially tap) and was a proud member of Actors Equity which enabled her to travel the country with several different national tours of Sesame Street Live before she became a 7th grade science teacher here at Tamanend. Mrs. Wilhelm’s proudest accomplishment is being the mom of two awesome little boys, Travis and Zack...oh, and being able to “let it go” when Mr. Sanchez insists on inserting the chicken dance into her choreography.

Ian Sanchez (Music and Multi-Media Director) is proud to count Frozen Jr. as his 11th musical production at Tamanend, and one that includes several milestones: first time making a movie, first time not playing the piano and leading the pit, and the first time in several years he was NOT forced by Mrs. Wilhelm to make a cameo in the production! Each show has brought its own unique excitement and challenges, and the multimedia elements of this year’s show fits squarely in both of those categories. He is incredibly thankful to have a wonderful tech crew to help him realize his creative visions! When he’s not mixing virtual choirs or crafting meticulously-bulleted lists of video-editing tweaks, he enjoys spending time with his wonderfully supportive family!

Maria Vitacco (Lighting, Sound, and Stage Crew Director) is delighted and proud to be a part of the Tamanend Players Frozen, Jr. crew this year. Being a part of the Tamanend Players productions for the past 7 years has bolstered her absolute love of the theatre. You can also find her reading books, usually young adult fiction, as she likes to chat about them with her students. When not in her classroom teaching English, you may also find her coaching on the tennis courts and track fields. She is very thankful and appreciative of her fabulous tech crew who work so incredibly hard to make the Tamanend productions Broadway-worthy. Big shout-outs to her family, friends and fellow directors for their love and support.

FROM THE DIRECTOR…

Welcome to the wintry world of Arendelle, as the Tamanend Players proudly present Frozen Jr. The MOVIE! Our talented cast and crew have been working tirelessly since December to bring this Disney Classic to life—all with a smile (that you can’t necessarily see, darn masks) but you can definitely hear and feel the love. We are absolutely thrilled to be back in our auditorium singing and dancing on our own stage, even if we are keeping 6 feet of distance between us. This past year will live in infamy for all the things we have had to live without. One of the things I have missed the most is live theatre. The theatre has always provided me a place of acceptance, unconditional love, happiness, entertainment and education. When we picked this particular show the boys in my household, including my husband, groaned in agony. My two little boys said, “MOM, nooooooo!!! NOT Frozen!!!!!!” Despite their pleas, I have grown to absolutely adore this story and the message that is delivered by two, very strong but very different female leads. Love really is an open door and can be experienced in many different combinations. All these differences are worthy of acceptance and deserve to be recognized and celebrated. It is with such gratitude and awe now, that I share this celebration of true love with you. Even though we are not technically back to our normal 100+ person production, we are thrilled that we have been able to bring this extremely talented cast and crew together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Dr. Brian Caughie and our administration for making this a reality, our office and custodial staff, and all of our dedicated families for their unending support and willingness to drop everything and literally find a door that was buried under 2 tons of wood, or perhaps clean the messiest costume closet imaginable at the drop of a hat, or many, many, hats in this case. I could not be more pleased with how we have learned to overcome and truly make any situation work with this endeavor. This year is so very different than any other and it is actually the Crew who takes center stage as the superstars of this show. Avery, Maddy, Ava, and Heera: you are literally our rock stars because without the four of you, and maybe a little bit of Sanchez and Vitacco, we would neither hear, see, nor experience the magic of what happens on this stage. I am eternally grateful to every single person that has given up their time to make this happen. To our 9th graders: we will miss you greatly next year, but we know that it is almost time to “let you go” to South and beyond! Thank you for sharing your talent, your laughter, and your energy with us during the last three years. I invite you to sit back, relax, maybe even chill out a bit, we are entering a never-ending winter after all, and enjoy the show. Thank you for supporting the performing arts at Tamanend Middle School!

So thrilled for you, Alex!! It makes us so

happy to see you enthusiastic about all

that is happening with this year’s

all that has happened this past year. We

are very proud of you for getting

involved, so much so that you have 4

We want to give a special thanks from the

Frozen Jr. tech and stage crew to Ms.

Vitacco. This year is not how we expected,

but Ms. Vitacco’s positive outlook made

every rehearsal worth it. From words of

encouragement, to small boxes of candy,

our wonderful tech director made sure

every member who worked behind the scenes

felt accepted. Many of us had Ms. Vitacco as

a teacher in 7th

grade, and her teaching

skills transcend to assisting backstage. Whenever one of us

had a question about scheduling, editing, or just needed a

laugh, we knew that Ms. Vitacco would always be there. We

aren’t sure how, but Ms. Vitacco would continue to put up

with our small antics, and we thank her for that as well.

Tech and stage crew would not be the same without our

director, and we wouldn’t be able to give Frozen Jr. that

little bit of magic without her help. Thank you, Ms. Vitacco

for all that you do to make our show the best it can be!

~Ava, Maddy, and Avery

Thank you to the directors for really making the best of the situation to create something beautiful! These amazing directors have created a safe space where we can go and get rid of all other stresses in our life (and focus on the stress of learning our lines). With Mrs. Wilhelm’s crazy, but AWESOME ideas for staging, Mr. Sanchez’s incredible musical talents and comedic plans, and Ms. Vitacco’s amazing work with the tech crew, this show went from good to spectacular! We will definitely miss the sound of Mrs. Wilhelm’s yell, Mr. Sanchez’s random falls, and Ms. Vitacco’s funny conversations. We have loved every moment of working on this project with you. Only in play rehearsal has there been times where we’ve cried with laughter for the better part of an hour. We really can’t thank the directors enough for all their kindness and all their teaching. Many of us entered the Tamanend shows as timid and unsure seventh graders and left with lifelong friends and a place to call home. In the past couple of years, you’ve all molded us into the confident people we are today. It’s been the best part of our three years here. Our musicals connect people, form bonds, and bring laughter on and off the stage. Thank you for that. ~Makayla, Rachel, Bryana, and Matthew
