Dear Community of Joy,Easter makes all things new! Echoes of the songs of Savior on Good Friday and resurrection songs from Easter still resonate in my soul. Christ is risen. He is risen indeed. One pastor said, “I am going to retire after Easter, because I want to finish on a high note.” On the other hand, our work is not finished.
So what do we do after Easter? The first century church found and fulfilled their calling by making relationships, making disciples and making a difference. As we draw closer to 2020, we see evidence of this same gospel work right here at Tallowood. For the first four months of 2017 we have talked about our calling to Christ. This continues the theme and work of making disciples. Now we continue our work of making relationships by hearing and heeding God’s call to live in community. We continue to connect with our amazingly international city. Thank God for bringing new believers from around the world. Our Serve the City event gives us another chance to reach out and touch the people who live all around us. How are you connected with other believers? Our Sunday School classes provide a weekly opportunity to connect with fellow Christians. We must always have an open chair for the guest in our gates. We also make relationships everywhere we go. New friends from one of my favorite local restaurants accepted my invitation to church on Easter. To be honest, I almost didn’t ask. I’m glad I did. Who is waiting for your invitation this week?
