A unique training opportunity for a limited number of code officials. OEDM SPECIAL OFFERING Wｫﾊ Sｫﾊçｽ Aããﾄ: This four‐hour training is open to both building and fire officials. Select a Ɵme and locaƟon convenient for you. Tﾙｮﾄｮﾄｦ Oòﾙòｮó: This training has two parts: Engineered Wood Products (EWP) followed by Outcomes of the ICC Tall Wood AdHoc CommiƩee. The EWP porƟon provides an introducƟon to the ever‐growing family of tradiƟonal and engineered wood products, including lumber, glued‐laminated Ɵmber (glulam), cross‐laminated Ɵmber, structural composite lumber, wood I ‐joists, and wood structural panels. Design stress standards and design provisions for each product will be discussed. The second half of the session will include a review of the intensive research performed by the ICC Tall Wood Building (TWB) AdHoc CommiƩee in the development of the four‐ teen tall mass Ɵmber code change proposals that the commiƩee submiƩed and recommended for approval. These proposals created three new types of construcƟon (Types IV‐A, IV‐B and IV‐C), which set fire safety require‐ ments, allowable heights, area and number of stories for tall mass Ɵmber buildings. These Tall Wood Building code change proposals were validated through the ICC Code Hearing process in 2018 and will be included in the 2021 InternaƟonal Building Code. Tｫ Pﾙﾝﾄãﾙ: Matthew M. Hunter, BCO, is the Northeast Regional Manager for the American Wood Council (AWC). His work experience includes all phases of commercial and resi ‐ dential land development, building inspection, plan review, municipal engineering and consulting.
