Distracted Driving Policy
No phone calls No e-mails, texts, internet or social
media
Not even hands free calls

out activities that could distract their attention from driving safely. Such activities
include:
• Making or answering calls (using hand-held or hands-free mobile phones, two-
way radios, etc);
• Reading or writing texts, emails or other messages, surfing the internet, or
entering data into mobile navigation devices;
• Using headsets or earphones to listen to music, radio, etc.
No programming SatNavs when in

Best Practices
Switching your phone off will stop all calls, texts and social media
Put your phone beyond all use by placing it in the boot of your car.
Plan your journeys and balance them with calls and e-mails.
Talk to your customers about the changes and why we are making this decision.
Switch off the Bluetooth connection with your car’s stereo.
Call before you drive, it worked in the time before mobiles
18
A new way to work
Please start thinking about what you need to do to make these changes
Discuss with colleagues to find the solutions needed and the new ways of working
It can be like any other addiction and you may find it hard at first
