    ello everyone,

What a relief Christmas is over and the 2016 New Yearas begun.

or visitors welcome. Have fun enjoying our

eaches and village but BHA would like to stressommunity safety. We encourage you all to stay safend look after each other this summer and especiallyave patience as cyclists, skateboarders, prams, carsnd pedestrians mix and mingle during the holidayeriod.lease lock your houses & cars. Do not leave your keysn the hall table or in view. Call 000 if you are concerned.e very aware of strange cars and trucks in your street.

    Get to know your neighbours.

he BHA Committee has made a preliminaryubmission to the Victorian Electoral Commissioneview of City of Greater Geelong council structure.

    We supported the following:

multi- councillor structure totaling 11 councillors;he division of the City of Greater Geelong into fewer butarger wards with a change of ward boundaries from theurrent 12 to 4 wards. 3x three-councillor wards 1x two-ouncillor ward; Barwon Heads joining a new Bellarine

ward;n urgent review of the present system of election of the

    mayor.

We look forward to the preliminary report which wenderstand will be released on the 20th January, and toarticipating further in the discussion on the evolution ofnew structure for the City of Greater Geelong. We

nticipate that a new structure for representation willrovide the basis for fair and equal representation andlso enable a funding structure that ensures thatatepayers money is equally distributed. We encouragell CoGG ratepayers to inform themselves and get

    nvolved.

Whats happening with the Pedestrian Safetyroject? The BHA Committee is pleased with the final

plans of this project and commends the SteeringCommittee for its work throughout the various stages ofthe projects development. At this stage no constructionworks will be conducted before the busysummer period to avoid disruption and the roadwork'look' during summer. To review photo montages of the proposed works seethe BHA website at www.barwonheadsassociation.comTraffic Management in Flinders Pde and Ozone Rd.In conjunction with VicRoads, Council has plans forpossible short term and then permanent improvementsfor LATM works in Flinders Pde and Ozone Roads. Thisis to stop cars using these streets as rat runs much tothe concern of the residents of those streets. These plans involve detailing parking bays, not only tohelp parking, but narrow the streets so traffic will slow. They also involve an extension to the 40kph speed limitin Hitchcock Ave down to Ozone Rd and time limitedparking for northern end of retail precinct. The BHAwebsite has a more detailed report from CoGG TrafficEngineer David Briggs for your further information.

We plan to respond to David after this Mondaysmeeting.

The newly formed Bellarine Community SafetyGroup.

Along with other community associations fromPortarlington, Point Lonsdale, Queenscliff, St Leonards,Indented Heads, Ocean Grove and Drysdale, BHA hasbeen asked to represent the Barwon Heads communityon this newly formed group. It is chaired by The HonLisa Neville our state MP and co-chaired by Tess Walsh

Assistant Commissioner, Western Region VictoriaPolice. The primary purpose of the group is to developcommunity crime prevention strategies to addresspercept ions of communi ty safety throughcommunication and engagement with local police. It willwork on crime prevention strategies to assist withspecific crime types in particular areas and peak times. And MYKI - Why cant we buy a myki card on theBellarine? It is quite absurd that there are no outletsselling our much loved travel cards in either Barwon

Heads or Ocean Grove. People are directed to theMarshal station however this is absurd for visitors andpeople without cars who depend on public transport toget there. We understand that the Barwon Heads PostOffice put in a submission over 2 years ago but was

rejected. Please lobby for a local outlet to sell andservice these cards.

Please look after our precious beaches and sand dunesthis summer. Use the paths provided. Remember divingoff the jettys is prohibited and extremely dangerous.Take care out there.

We will see you at our first meeting for 2016 on the15th February. 7:00pm at the Senior Citizens Centre.

Please join us and email your thoughts to us through ourwebsite. www.barwonheadsassociation.com

minutes opposite the Bendigo Bank till he finally decidedthat it was the only way he and the family could getacross to go to the river-beach.

    The traffic is unbelievable.

I hope that when I next write to you, that I will be able toreport that we have air-conditioning in our first garage, called the Sorting-Room. Being smaller than the secondgarage, (Show-room), this uninsulated space becomesSO unbearably hot on any day when the temperaturerises above thirty degrees, that we have to shut it down.We may still have to close the front, north-facing doors,

on days when a hot north wind is blowing, but volunteerswill be able to work, and customers enter through theside door, as we need the stock inside to sell.I am so grateful to the Property Management team whohave organised this project, and to a generous localtradie who has offered to help dig the trench neededfor electrical cabling.

As always, we have so much in our shop....super books, pictures, toys, kitchen-ware, and of course, SO muchclothing, that we will be having Snap Sales asnecessary, to clear things. Our recent $1 dollar anygarment sale was surprisingly successful. I heard laterthat many townspeople passed the message on to anyfriends they met, and the number of people who camealong meant that despite my fears, we made enoughmoney to justify it.We do have huge quantities of goods left under our

veranda near the two areas where goods are sorted.I have certainly asked many times for kind donors toremember that we older volunteers REALLY strugglewith overloaded boxes...particularly boxes of books ormagazines.I am also very upset if, as I struggle with a bag for ofwhat looks like clothing, I hear an ominouscrunching/tinkling as I put down the bag!If crockery is at the bottom of the bag, it will be tipmaterial by the time weve got it in!It really helps if donors separate goods into clothing ORother things. Then we sometimes have an equally

maddening problem when people load a plastic bag withsuch a heavy load of clothing that as soon as it is pickedup, it tears apart. It is so frustrating to have to find boxesor bags and painstakingly transfer each article, piece bypiece into a replacement. The volunteers who willingly give their time to raise themoney which is so gratefully received by the church andlocal groups, (see the list of donations near our MainShop door), would so appreciate donations that havebeen packed with some care.On this note, once again I need to thank all ourvolunteers, donors, and customers. Its certainly adifficult job working at the Shop, but a most gratifyingone in most ways.Take care on the roads, and on the beach.

    God bless you all,Helen Edwards

Our final concert for 2015 was the fabulous trio of Ben Castle, violin, Regina Thomae, piano, & Brighid Mantelli, flute with a very

appreciative audience! They began with a gentle introduction of an Aria trio byJaque Ibert, a French composer (1890-1962) & followed with a trio Sonata in A minorwith 4 movements by Georg Philipp Telemann, a German composer (1681-1767). NextBen performed from JSBachs 6 pieces for solo violin in the Italian style, the Adagio fromG minor sonata, which he chose for us as he really loves it!

Ben introduced the next piece by saying that Mozart never wrote a dud piece evenwhen composing for his least favourite instrument- the flute! (the early flute was difficultto keep in tune!) The Sonata in F Major KV 13 had 3 movements for flute & piano. Violin& piano performed Johannes Brahms (German composer b.1833 & died in Vienna in1897) Hungarian Dance no.6 which was absolutely brilliant!

Regina found some arrangements from piano solos by Claude Debussy (French 1862-1918) arranged for other instruments such as flute & violin. They chose 2 for piano &flute & the third was for piano & violin, composed by Debussy as a parody to be evenslower than the fashionable slow waltz popular in France in the early 20th century!

They chose Astor Piazzolla, Argentiian (1921-1992) & performed 2 trios: Los Pargarosperdidos & Libertango in his typical tango style which has elements of jazz influences& great fun! Jean Sibelius (Finnish composer;1865-1957) was chosen by Regina as herstudents had performed it so well in the Scandinavian style & she really loved it! Then aviolin & piano Sonata in G Major by a young Mozart, choosing the allegro movementwhich was full of life!

They chose to finish with Antonio Vivaldi (b. Venice & died in Vienna in 1741) , aConcerto in G minor with 3 movements written for any instruments that could play in CMajor worked beautifully for their trio. They gave us a very professional & generousBakers Dozen; 13 pieces on December 13th! Their concert was a brilliant end to awonderful year of varied musical genres!

Our 2016 calendar is filling up rapidly with an exciting mixture of performers & a few newideas such as a Twilight fund-raiser in March & joining the Festival of the Sea withmusical entertainment in the John Green Tent. Another different entertainment will be

The Man from Ironbark in April & Marvellous Music in May plus many more & variedconcerts for the rest of the year! Keep an eye on Talking Heads for the latest updates!I would like to thank our energetic committee for their continued support & ideas & alsothank Natale Lewington for her supreme efforts with the Chorale & thank most sincerelyHazel Mitchell who sadly is retiring from her fantastic role as accompanist since thebeginning!Best wishes for the New Year. Have you noticed the new shops in BarwonHeads? I asked Ann from Move Athletica toell us the philosophy behind her lovely newpace...started my working life in retail and have a love of

ashion. Right now its about fashion that is comfy andnspires me and others to move everyday

years ago I left a senior corporate position that wasll about enabling change in large organisations, toeach Yoga full time. This enabled me to deepen mywn practice and share yoga with many yogis across

    Melbourne and Geelong.

Creating a little space in my life also allowed me toxplore my passion for active wear, and the concept of

Move Athletica was born. The name was inspired byots of things...we are building (moving) to BarwonHeads, I love active wear that moves with your bodynd hence why the garments and fabrics I choose

must always feel good on. I believe in moving everyay regardless of what form this takes in order to stayealthy, however Yoga is my passion. Trying to live byhe ethos of move with life rather than against itllows life to reveal itself to me.

Move Athletica is a lifestyle concept boutique. By daywe showcase the latest in Premium Leisurewear and

    COMMUNITY ARTS GARDEN

Summer in the Gardens .Plotholders have ben busy over the past months planting a wide variety of vegetables andome of these will be soon ready for harvest. These include various varieties of tomatoes,

eggplant, beans, cucumber and capsicums to name a few. To prevent moisture loss (over what

s forecast to be a very hot summer) plots have been well mulched. We have a number of newplotholders who have joined our garden community over the past few months and we warmlywelcome Jen, Mimi, Beth and Mandy & Colin. We currently now have 22 plotholders with allplots being taken but If you would like to go on the waiting list please contact us and we can letou know when one becomes available.

The fruit trees are laden with fruit and the apricot tree has kilos of fruit hanging from its branches.Once these are ripened they will be shared amongst our members, It will be terrific to harvestuinces once they are ready to maybe make the delicious quince paste although I do haveome still in the fridge from last year's harvest.n the polyhouse Our new innovative experiment of establishing garden beds in thepolyhouse has worked well and the tomatoes are loving the ideal conditions. I picked my firstarge, ripe tomato a couple of days ago. What a treat to have a fresh homegrown ripe tomato soearly in the season. Basil, eggplant and cucumbers are also growing nicely and becomingeady for the picking. Our watering system automatically comes on twice a day for just a few

    minutes each time.

New Projectsdeas for new projects are always being put forward and there is no shortage of what can beone to continue to beautify our community arts garden. Some projects that are in the pipeline

nclude the following:Relocation of children's play area: Currently plans are underway for relocation of thehildren's play area to the rear of the polyhouse where a new sandpit will be established. We

were recently donated a small dingy and this will be planted up into a children's garden.New small storage shed: Designs are being looked at for a new storage shed toaccommodate equipment including various items belonging to our Beekeeping Group andSustainability Group. Both groups have had to house a lot of their equipment in their members'omes which hasn't been ideal.

Eastern fence vertical garden:During 2016 we hope to erect a new frame along the easternenceline so that a wide variety of climbing plants can happily climb towards to the sky. This willalso add an attractive backdrop to that part of the garden.

The Garden Room.(the portable located at the rear of the gardens). Our garden rooms available for hire for a nominal fee. Currently we have various groups using the roomncluding a yoga group and also a chlldren's music group. It is a very pleasant room to use formeetings. The room is carpeted and tea making facilities are available. If you would like to bookhe portable please contact Committee member Russell on 0439 061 475.

Visitors to the Garden:t is always rewarding to be able to show groups our delightful Community Arts Garden.Recently we had a small group from the Colac Sustainability Group visit for a tour this groupad also visited some years back and were amazed at the continued development of theardens. Students and a teacher from a school in Whittington also recently visited and learnt

about growing vegetables. The children at that school are already establishing their ownarden and constructing vegetables boxes out of used pallets which they are selling to raise

money to buy plants a very worthy cause and project for the students. Children from the

Barwon Heads Bop Bop Karrong kindergarten also had a lovely visit along with teachers andparents. We welcome groups who would like to visit and learn about the gardens. If you contact us wean arrange for a committee member to also be present to provide further background

nformation about the gardens. An email can be sent to: [email protected]

Workshops:Basket Weaving Workshop:The first of our workshops will be a basket weaving workshop to be conducted by Caroline

th rdHawkins. This is a two day workshop and the dates are Sunday March 20 and Sunday April 3 .A variety of other workshops will be offered during 2016 and these will be advertised in latereditions of Talking Heads.

Working bees/get togethersare held on the last Sunday of the month from 10 amonwards. Everyone is welcome to call in, meet members and if you can spare an hour or so

end a hand with some of the smaller projects. We welcome visitors to the garden please feel free to pop in during the Summer months to sit, elax and enjoy our Community Arts Garden.

as well as creating a love for the after lessonplay. My eldest wise one is 10 and as she isapparently exceeding in her natural ability, she started squad swimming last term.Rather than a lesson where you swim acouple of laps and have a fair slog of play -she now just puts her googles on and herhead down. Keeping left, she follows theblack line up and down and up and down.Chasing the flipping feet of the person infront. Kicking madly away from the personbehind. Theres no playing. Theres no

talking. Theres just swimming laps up anddown and up and down.

Head down, she keeps left and follows theblack line.

With all the other 10 year olds whoapparently share her natural gift.

I dont want to do swimming. Its boring. Were not allowed to play

Think lateral side openers, hip openers andsvadyaya mediation.

Its the time of the year when we look back

on what was and look forward to what may

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So, Ive dragged my 3 small ones to localswimming lessons since before they couldwalk.

    For over 10 years Ive done the pool run.For more than half of that, I sat semi-squatn the water wearing nothing but speedosand goosebumps. I used the kiosk as aplace of bribery rather than a place ofnourishment. Fried incentive got funky-runks on bums and googles on heads. Ithas been easier as my smalls have grownolder. Yet even though they can walk in andeven most times, walk out by themselves;

Heaven forbid they carry their own towel.

Part of closing the year is preparing forhe new one. So yesterday, I asked mysmall ones which after-school activitieshey wanted to pursue. Swimming isnon-negotiable. We live on the coastand the beach is our backyard. And ingreat marketing prowess, all the swimeachers keep telling me about thenatural ability my smalls seem to havereceived as a stroke-technique gift ofGrace. It makes me feel strong in myown gene pool.

As I believe their aquatic talent isdirectly descendant from me.

My youngest 2 smalls agreed to keepup swimming lessons. They haveactical placed besties in the pool with them.Saving me ten bucks a week in kiosk bribery

talking lifebe. This reflection gives us space to seewhat we have learned, to see where wehave grown and in what direction we feeldrawn to move towards. For many of us, thenew year offers opportunity to take a break. To lift our head and move away from the leftof the black line that we can unconsciouslyfollow. So that in taking a step back fromlifes linear routine and structure, we canbetter discern whether the flipping feet infront are worth chasing. Or whether we needto kick so hard from the person behind.

And whether we have made any time thisyear to let ourselves play at all.

When we give ourselves permission to seebeyond the ongoing black line, we offerourselves time for a little headhousecleaning. We come to understand thatour thoughts inherently shape our reality andthat self awareness is not just how well youunderstand your emotions in this moment -but how you understand your tendenciesover time. In stepping off the black line, welearn to be responsive rather than reactive. We start to act rather than to react. Weremember to fully live our lives rather than

    just cope with them.

I looked at my eldest wise oneyesterday, her childhood slowingclosing and her womanhood justbegun, and I hugged her hard. Weagreed that wed wag squad for a bit.Wed go back to playing together at thelocal pool. It means I have to get backinto my speedos and my goosebumps. But its so we can play together. Shecan practice her mermaid kicks and Ican practice my somersaults.

While trying not to get water up mynose.

RipViewSwimClassic 2016The 28th Rip View Swim Classic ( Season 2015 / 2016 ) is locked in for Sunday 3rd January 2016, with a start of

12:00pm - midday, for the first wave of the 1.4km swim and 11:00am for our inaugural 3.8km swim .

This 1.4km open water swim is one of the three big swims on the Victorian Summer Calendar and a favourite especially for those new to open water swimming. Theocation at Port Phillip Heads makes our swim totally dependent on low tide, and we carefully select the most suitable date between Christmas and the Pier to Pub.The 28th event swim, will start at the Santa Casa (Nun's) Beach off Henry Street Queenscliff at 11:00am and hug the Lonsdale Bight until it joins up with the start of the1.4km swim at the Spring's Beach. It then follows the traditional course to the finish line, opposite the Point Lonsdale Front Beach Shops.

compassion. We can take the time to create the balancebetween the two.

Lateral Flexion poses offer us the opportunity to look atlife from another perspective. We can take a side stepfrom our everyday pattern of thinking and open our mindsto lateral thinking.Lateral thinking means to look at things from anotherangle to think outside the square. Lets test your knowledge of the local & surrounding area...

Ancient history:1 During the last ice age, 17,000 years ago, was the sea level higher or lower than now, and by about how much?

2 There are two anchors between Laheys Square and the Coast offices. Which two wrecked ships did they come from?

3 How did the first Tasmanian aborigines get to Tasmania from the mainland?

4 The previous building on the site of the Barwon Heads Hotel burned down in the 1920s. What was it called?

5 The sea wall along the promenade is partly constructed of bluestone blocks. Some of them came from the demolition ofthe old Wilson Hall, Melbourne University, while others came from a demolished local building. What building?

6 The IGA supermarket was built from the shell of the old supermarket. What had the building been used for, before it was a

    supermarket?

7 For many years, until quite recently, the top of the Bluff was the site of a substantial (and very ugly) structure. What wasthe structure?

    Floods and bridges:

8 Weve all seen photos of the waist-deep water and people rowing around houses in the main street during Barwon Headsbiggest ever flood, when 600mm of rain fell in three days! What was the year?

9 As a result of that flood, a levee bank was built adjacent to the river to protect the town. What was the main problem thatalmost caused the levee bank to fail during the flood of 1995?

10 Why were large holes drilled in some of the wooden bridge piles during World War II?

    Local knowledge:

11 A number of older houses in Flinders Parade, Ewing Blythe Drive, and even as far away as Grove Road, are partly builtof recycled architectural structures . What were the common structures originally, and where did they come from?

12 What is the present name of the shop formerly known as Nanettes?

13 The kiosk shed next to Diver Dans (At the Heads) has a long history as a fishermans store room and then as a waitingroom for the ferry that preceded the bridge. What was it called in its final days as an art shop?

14 The black basalt rock at Black Rock and in the platform at the foot of the bluff was deposited by a lava flow from a localvolcano. Which volcano?

15 The international treaty to protect wetlands and migratory water birds is called the Ramsar treaty. Why was it given thisname?

16 The Twelve Apostles, a group of rock stacks off the coast near Port Campbell, were once called the Sow and piglets.Since recent collapses, how many stacks are actually left?

Enjoy a fire safe summer January 2016

With the holiday season well and truly upon us, it's time to remindourselves of what we can all do to enjoy a fire safe summer. Fires arenot just the domain of open paddocks and bushland, fires can alsostart at the home and cause damage to yours and neighbouringproperties.

With many holiday makers in our beautiful town, it's a timely reminderof the responsibility we all have to one another. Here's a five things we

can all do:. Monitor fire danger ratings to stay safe. On days where the

ire danger rating is severe, extreme or code red it's better to stay inown centres rather than visit national parks or bush areas. These arekely to be closed.

    2. On total fire ban days do not operate machinery likely to cause sparks (eg angle grinders or whipper snippers) and do not lightan open fire or solid fuel bbq.

    3. On total fire ban days you are safe to use fixed gas or electric bbq's built into a permanent structure of brick, stone or concrete.Portable gas or electric bbq's are also ok to use if they are designed exclusively for meal preparation.

    4. Know what your fire plan is, which may mean leaving the area early, well before there are any signs of fire. This goes forresidents and holiday makers.

    5. Download the FireReady app to your smart phone. This app provides the latest fire information and warnings. Set the app tonotify you of incidents occurring in a chosen area and use it to stay up to date with local Fire Danger Ratings and Total FireBans.

To find out more, visit cfa.vic.gov.au

The Barwon Heads Fire Brigade has turned out to 44 incidents so far this year. Recently, we supported a controlled burn in theWinchelsea area, an important activity to reduce the amount of long, dry grass alongside local roads. The experience is good practicen the event we need to attend a bushfire and support major incidents of that nature. We have a Facebook page informing you of local community safety events and insights to what the Brigade is up to. Make sure youump on and give us a like to follow what we are up to!The Barwon Heads Fire Brigade is seeking new members. If you are interested in learning new skills, meeting new people andbeing part of a team that contributes to the safety of our community, please call Captain Helen Wood on 0438 507 273, oremail Secretary Kira Crawford Brooks on [email protected] Libby Hay

    WHAT'S COOKING AT

THE LOBSTER POT?For those readers who are visiting or new to thearea, the Hooded Plover is a small, timid, endangered beach-nesting bird which is endemicto our local beaches.Hooded Plovers are the masters of camouflage and are well-adapted to life on the beach that is, life on the beaches of 100years ago.Their once tranquil beach habitat has now been overwhelmed bypeople visiting the beach for recreation, bringing all sorts ofthings that the birds are unfamiliar with dogs, horses, 4WDs,beach balls, toddlers!Hoodies now struggle to find a bit of undisturbed space on thebeach to breed and because their nesting failure rate is as high

as 90-95%, their numbers are declining, as too few young areadded to the population to sustain it.Birdlife Australia and hundreds of coastal volunteers are turningthis dire situation around; by monitoring hoodies and detectingwhen they have eggs or chicks and putting protectivemanagement in place to relieve many of the human pressures.Hooded Plovers lay their eggs directly on the sand in a simple, shallow nest scrape. The nest can be anywhere above the high-tide mark, on the beach or in the dunes.Hooded Plovers eggs are small (about the size of a 20-centpiece) and very well camouflaged; so well camouflaged that theyare easily trodden on by accident.

Egg incubation takes 28 days and if completed successfully, thetiny fluffball chicks hatch out with surprisingly powerful legs.

Adult hoodies don't feed their young; the chicks must fend forthemselves, feeding on the sandhoppers found in decomposing

seaweed. With sufficient undisturbed feeding time, growth israpid and in just five weeks they can fly.During those five weeks before flight, however, they are at theirmost vulnerable and face many threats.

Aside from the ever present avian predators: magpies, ravens, gulls, kestrels and other raptors, these chicks are highlysensitive to disturbance from off-lead dogs.

When an off-lead dog is present, chicks will go into hiding whichmeans they can't feed and may die of starvation or dehydration ifthey are disturbed for a long period of time or frequentlydisturbed throughout the day. When the chick's parents arepreoccupied with fending off or distracting off-lead dogs thechicks are then vulnerable to avian attack.

An unleashed dog is more likely to explore and to moveunpredictably from the water to the upper beach, or even into thedunes, where they are likely to encounter the eggs or hiding

chicks, and to accidentally step on and crush them.Believe it or not, the birds can tell the difference between a dogon or off the lead.Hooded plovers have been observed to be less reactive toleashed dogs; a dog on the lead is very close to its owner andmoves at the same speed, in a predictable path.

As a consequence disturbance is of a shorter duration and lesslikely to be lethal.

Success for the hoodies depends on everyone. Please, if youare visiting any beach where hoodies are breeding, respect thesigns at the breeding areas.Walk your dog elsewhere, but if that's impossible, keep them ona leash at all times and walk at the waters edge.Never walk at high tide as the nests are on the sand just abovethe high-water mark.

Of the five breeding pairs between Point Lonsdale and

Collendina, the three breeding pairs along the Barwon Coastand the five pairs along the Breamlea Coast, at the time ofwriting, there is only one chick (at 42W) which (if our Christmaswish has been granted) will hopefully be fledged by the time thisarticle goes to print.

PLAT IT SAFE BY THE WATERAs we move into our summer beach season it isimportant to always swim between the flags at our locallypatrolled beaches - Ocean Grove Main, Ocean GroveSpit 18W and 13th Beach Main where Life Savers &Lifeguards will be on patrol 7 days a week, for the peakholiday covering week from Boxing day to Australia day .

At all beach access pathways we have installed BeachSafety Signs that provide advice on general waterconditions, rocks, tide etc. and where the nearestpatrolled beach is. Please take time to read thosenotices.

    Always be alert on the

beach when with childrenand never swim alone

No diving / jumping fromje tty, pr om enad e orbridge

T r a g i c a l l y s e r i o u sincidents have occurred inrecent summers so it isreally important to takepersonal responsibility foryour safety when near thewater, be it at the ocean orthe river beaches.Dangerous activities suchas jumping or diving off theBarwon Heads jetty, the

promenade or the bridge can lead to serious injuryespecially back injuries. This year we have seen massive movement of sandsalong the beaches and at low river flows the water depthcan be minimal, especially at low tide near the Jetty, sodon't do it!BARWON HEADS PROMENADE UPDATERebuilding of the seawall commenced on Monday 28thSeptember and was completed by the 18th of December

2015.The construction of a new concrete promenade, including a handrail will begin after Australia Day.The promenade walk re-opened the week beforeChristmas. In the interest of public safety, all visitors to the area areasked to take note of the site signage and only walk asdirected.

Happy New Year to locals and visitors of our wonderful town. 2016 is going to be a fantastic year for the BHCC. We have loads to look forward to. Following a very

busy 2015, our major focus in the near future is the B2B our Bridge to Bridge ride from Sydney to Barwon Heads. It's only three months until the big ride from Sydney

o Barwon Heads actually happens. About 1100 km in eight days averaging around 150 km per day. Three months away! Only thirteen weeks! That is not far away.

Luckily we have been doing many k's, but we are now going to step it up and do even more.

We have had a lot of support from our local businesses that are getting behind the B2B ride and supporting

us in our fundraising efforts for Give Where You Live, the charity we are riding for.

Barwon Heads Community Bank and Open2View, Health Creation in Ocean Grove, Scandinavian

ce-Cream Company, Caf Maritana, Annie's Provedore and Max Action all offering support in

many different ways. If your business would like to assist, please talk to any of the BHCC
