eSA FACILITY PIPING MATERIAL SPECIFICATION
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This CSA Piping Material Specification has been developed for wellsite, facilty and station piping andtherefore does not apply downstream of the pig launcher, upstream of the pig receiver or at riser locationscovered by the pipeline corrosion mitigation program.

Design Methodology
The piping classes were developed to provide piping material specifications for the following CSA coldflange rated pressure classes: PN 20, PN 50, PN 100, PN 150, PN 250. For each pressure class, pipewall thicknesses were then calculated using the equation provided in CSA Z662-07 Clause 4.3.5.1. A
joint
factor of 1.00 corresponding to seamless and electric welded pipes, location factor of 0.625corresponding to Class 1/ocation and Station application, temperature factor or 1.00 corresponding totemperatures below 120°C, and a specified design factor of 0.8 were used throughout this specification inthe determination of the wall thickness.
CSA pipe grades chosen are reflective of material availability, cost and delivery.

Design and Operating Conditions
For definitions of design and operating conditions see Colt Pieing De,and Layout Specification GS903-01.
A service will be designated as sour if the design conditions match orexceed the criteria as set out in CSA Z662-07 Clause 16.2 or applicableprovincial governing body.
If a service is designated as sour, the systems must be designed inaccordance with all the requirements defined in CSA Z662 Section 16,latest edition. Refer to Talisman Sour Service Spec ES1.A408 for additionalsour service requirements.
All piping systems including supports shall have a MDMT (Minimum DesignMetal Temperature). The MDMT is defined as the minimum metal designtemperature at which components are subjected to internal or externalpressures or stresses. All required Cat II piping materials shall be impacttested according to CSA Z662 Cat Ii (_45°C) requirement.
Materials Identification
All materials not covered by the piping material specifications shall beclearly identified with an identification number on the P&ID's, the pipingdrawings and the isometrics. All items with an identification number shallbe recorded on a specialty item (SP) list as a part of the drawing package. The identification number shall be permanently attached to the item with astainless steel tag or nameplate.

other than CE Franklin shall be supplied with the mill test reports for theQC package.
Each individual length of pipe shall, as a minimum, be marked with theapplicable CSA grade or ASTM standard and wall thickness: i.e. CSAGR241 SCH8D. These markings shall be applied continuously throughouteach full length of pipe.
All markings on stainless steel and alloy piping shall be free of chloridesand metals.
Wall Thickness Calculations and Corrosion Allowance
ø Wall thickness calculations are based on CSA Z662-07 and AlbertaRegulation AR 9112005 (Clause 16) where design stress levels may notexceed 50% SMYS for all sour above ground piping.
ø A computerized calculation sheet for determining wall thicknesses isavailable on the Mechanical Engineering Computer Network andTalisman SharePoint Site.
ø Tiie corrosion allowance to be used is specified in the individual lineclasses.
Pressure and temperature limits indicated in the individual Line Classes arebased on the lesser of the maximum allowable flange rating as per CSAZ245.12 or ASME 816.5 for the particular material group. All pipingcomponent wall thicknesses specified in each Line Class are based on thelesser of either the allowable flange pressure rating or the allowable stressof the piping component found within the temperature limits of the LineClass. Allowance has been made for the stated corrosion allowance, depthof any threads, and manufacturer's mill tolerance.
Piping component wall thicknesses do not include any additional thicknessthat may be required to compensate for such design considerations asthermal loads, live loads, hydraulic shocks, or loads and forces from othercauses, all of which must be given consideration when designing pipingsystems.
Unless otherwise specified, all pressures specified in the individual LineClass are positive pressure. All piping subjected to a negative pressureshall be investigated on an individual basis since the engineering designspecified in the applicable Line Class mayor may not be suitable.
All CSA Material shall be low temperature (-45°C) category II materiaL.
All A35D-LF2 forgings shall be CLASS 1.

Pressure testing of piping shall be 1.5 times the MOP for each line class.
CSA Z662-07 Clause 8.6 stipulates that "where practical," pipe spoolsshould be tested to produce the same hoop stresses as would be producedin the absence of erosion and corrosion allowances; this would result inhydro test pressures in excess of 1.5 times the cold rated flange pressuretherefore creating hoop stresses in excess of 75% of SMYS of the material. It was deemed impractical in facility piping to resolve the above issue byderating the operating pressures or changing flanges for this reason 1.5times the MOP will be used as the test pressure.
Pipe Supports
Welded shoes can only be used when the calculated hoop stress is lessthan 50% of the SMYS of the materiaL.

Notes Referenced in Line ClassesPWHT per Code. Weld procedure qualification (WPS), with supporting procedure qualificationrecord (PQR), to be qualified by impact testing as required by relevant Code (ASME B31.3 orCSA Z662). All welds in vibrating service shall be stress relieved.
Design pressure for pipe made to a standard or specification other than recommended in CSAZ662-07 shall not exceed the pressure corresponding to 72% of SMYS of the pipe (Clause4.3.5.4).
Bore to match pipe.
Specify olets as branch schedule and size by header size. Refer to Branch Connection Chart#1. Use Branch Connection Chart #2 for Sour Vibration Service.
Small bore flanged valve shall be used for instrument connections, vents and drains only.
Install in horizontal position with cover up only.
Install in horizontal position with cover up or vertically with flow upwards only.
In horizontallínes, split-disc wafer type check valves shall be installed with the shaft in thevertical position.
For Valve material description and purchase details refer to Section 3 of Talisman ASMEPiping Material Specification IBU-TLM-SPEC-EM-003.
Contractor or Vendor's welding procedure qualification (WPS), with supporting procedurequalification records (POR), shall ensure that weld hardness does not exceed 22 HRC. Thelocation and number of hardness impressions shall be as specified in the referenced code forsour service applications and shall include the weld root, heat-affected zone (HAZ), weld capand parent metal. Hardness readings shall be documented and records submitted to Talisman(TLM). All welds in vibrating service shall be stress relieved.
11. Threaded fittings shall not be used on main process piping in sour service applications.Threaded fittings may be used on branches which have been isolated from the main headerwith a flanged valve or as approved by the responsible engineer. Where threaded forgedfittngs are specified, pressure ratings shall be as outlined in ASME B16.11
12. Socket-welded valves shall be used in sour service applications. Combination-end valves(SW x NPT) may be used for vents, drains and instrument connections only.
