Effective Oct. 2019, Customers cannot directly purchase Essbase Cloud
and
Essbase is no longer available on a typical SaaS subscription model.
Important Term Definition: Essbase+
• “Essbase+” is the license a customer buys to access Essbase.
• This license can be used to deploy on-prem (the traditional method) or it can be used to deploy on Cloud servers.
• Unlike Cloud subscription models, Essbase+ has an upfront fee and then 22% annual maintenance.
• This cost does not include the cost of the server on which you deploy it.
• The majority of on-prem customers own Essbase+ in some form or another.
Moving Forward with Essbase (19c and beyond)
Essbase+ Essbase19c on OCI
OAC Essbase/Enterprise OAC Enterprise
Moving to Essbase 19c• Essbase 19c is basically just the next version of Essbase.
• Customers can only migrate to version 19c if they own Essbase+.
• Customers keep paying their Essbase+ maintenance and “BYOL” to Essbase 19c (no charge for BYOL itself).
• They must buy (via BYOL or UC) OCI stack (compute, block storage, object storage) ATP (database instance)
• They will be bound to the terms of their Essbase+ license (users or CPUs).
• Acronyms: ATP: Autonomous Transaction Processing BYOL: Bring Your Own License OCI: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure OCPU: Oracle Compute Unit (basically, the equivalent of a CPU core) UC: Universal Credits
Migration Paths to the Essbase Future
1. On-Prem Essbase BYOL to Essbase on OCI
2. New Essbase customers Buy Essbase+ and install it on OCI
3. OAC Essbase who still own on-prem Essbase #1 then move OAC Essbase cubes to Essbase on OCI
4. OAC Essbase users who do not currently own Essbase+ Buy Essbase+, move OAC to Essbase on OCI
Use Universal Credits to pay for OCI
• Can also migrate Essbase to Oracle EPM Enterprise Cloud.

Buying Essbase
•Essbase+ If you don’t already own it:
$2,900/user or $138,000/CPU 22% annual maintenance Variable costs for OCI
•Oracle EPM Enterprise $500/user Essbase is included No additional OCI costs
Narrative Reporting Note
Narrative Reporting isn’tcertified yet to talk to
Essbase 19c,but it is coming.
#SafeHarbor.
The Good News
The add-on cost for BYOL?
ZERO.You only pay for the OCI instance itself.
You get 100 days of overlap while you stand up OCI.
• If you have Essbase on-prem CPU licensing: You can have up to that same number of OCI OCPUs
• If you have Essbase on-prem named users: You can have as many CPUs as you need but cannot create more
named user licenses than you own on-prem
The Good News
The add-on cost for BYOL?
ZERO.
You only pay for the OCI instance itself.
You get 100 days of overlap while you stand up OCI.
• For example: If you have 16 CPUs of Essbase+ on-prem,
you can have 0 to 16 OCPUs of Essbase 19c
If you have 100 users of Essbase+ on-prem,
you can have 0 to ∞ OCPUs of Essbase 19c
Top 5 Essbase Tips for the Future
1. Realize that Essbase 19c is just the next version of Essbase.
2. If you own any Essbase+ (AKA on-prem Essbase) at all, keep paying your maintenance.
3. If you own Essbase+,setup an OCI instance and try out Essbase 19c.
4. If you only own OAC Essbase, begin negotiating for Essbase+ licenses.
5. If you don’t have a lot of Essbase, strongly consider going to Oracle EPM Enterprise.
