“Take the High Ground” Second Annual ASSAULT on KENNESAW MOUNTAIN 5K Run to the Top Commemorating Georgia’s Fallen Warriors Saturday – November 23 rd , 2013 – 7:00 a.m. Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Presented by the Georgia Army National Guard and the 122nd Regiment (GA-RTI) 5 KM/3.1 Mile Course: Runners will assemble at Grace Community Church (770 Kennesaw Ave NW Marietta, GA 30060). The race course will start nearby at the intersection of Kennesaw Ave. and Tower Rd. at 7:00 a.m SHARP, The race route will go north on Kennesaw Ave. on the running path to Old Hwy. 41, staying on the path to Stilesboro Road, to the entrance of the Kennesaw Mountain Visitor’s Center, through the grassy field on the north side of the Visitor’s Center to the Georgia Soldiers’ Monument, up the mountain road, and finish at the mountain top parking lot. The awards ceremony will be conducted at the mountain top at 8:30 a.m. *Runners will move back to Grace Community Church at their convenience where breakfast food will be provided. Elevation Gain: Almost 700 ft. will be climbed over the race route; the vast majority of the ascent will be encountered during the final mile. Runners should be fit & accustomed to running uphill. After all, it is the “ASSAULT!” Electronic Timing: Mountain Goat Adventures will provide electronic timing & scoring for all runners. Results will be provided promptly and posted on-line. WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO? Any proceeds generated by “The Assault on Kennesaw Mountain” will be donated to the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation. The Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, Inc. is a non- profit 501 (c) (3) charitable corporation established in 1994 for the primary purpose of providing assistance on an emergency relief basis to members of the Georgia National Guard and other qualified military members living in the State of Georgia.
