2. HABITAT Takahe live on mountains and grassland, they are native to the North island of New Zealand. Takahe used to be known to live on both the North and South islands. Today only the North island Takahe exist and the South island Takahe are extinct. 3. DIET Takahe eat the soft, juicy part at the bottom of grass stalks, fern roots and insects. They also eat mountain daises and types of herbs as well as worms and lizards. Once in a while Takahe swallow small rocks to help digest their food. 4. Takahe have Blue and green feathers Small wings (but cant fly) Strong beaks They are the size of a large hen 5. Takahe are flightless(even though they have wings) They have big green poo as thick as your thumb Takahe mainly just eat, eat and eat even more all day Takahe can live up to 20 years (which is very long) Takahe are endangered 6.
