Ash Wednesday Service

February 17th, 2021

Taizé is a service of reflection and meditation. Throughout the service there will be extended pauses of silence to draw us into the holy. Consider the serenity prayer or passages of scripture on the back page to reflect during these moments of silence. Allow the silence to be a reminder that we often move to fast, that God is calling us to slow down, God seeks our full attention to speak to us. Give time and space to God in your offering through silence.

Happy are those whose offense is forgiven, whose sin is remitted. O happy are those to whom the Lord imputes no guilt, in whose spirit is no guile.

Prayer of Intercession:

God our Father, you want us to become new creatures in Christ. We pray to you.Lord, you promise us new heavens and a new earth. Renew our hope.You have freed us from our slavery by giving us your only Son; you open for us the way of freedom.Enable us to listen to your Word and to welcome it with hearts filled with love.We were dead and you brought us to life through the Spirit; We were sinners and you offer to continually restore us to purity of heart.

Prayer of Atonement:

God of peace, you do not want us to know relentless worry but rather a humble repentance of heart. It is like a surge of trusting that enables us to place our faults in you. And then, by the inner light of forgiveness, little by little we discover a peace of heart. Living God, you bury our past in the heart of Christ and are going to take care of our future

Members may come by the church from 9AM-1PM to receive ashes.
