Common measurement criteria

4

• Propose new methodology in Service Availability – Data Collection from Alexa’s top 1 million websites – Definition:

• Web Availability Ratio is numbers of IPv6-Enabled Web Servers to numbers of ccTLD Web Servers in Alexa

• DNS/Email Availability Ratio is numbers of IPv6-Enabled DNS/Email Servers to numbers of Aggregated ccTLD DN in Alexa

Alexain servers WebccTLD of #

Servers WebEnabled IPv6 of #ccTLD ofty Availabili WEB

Alexain DN ccTLD Aggregated of#

Servers DNS Enabled IPv6 of #ccTLD ofty Availabili DNS

Alexain DN ccTLD Aggregated of#

Servers Email Enabled IPv6 of #ccTLD ofty Availabili Email

Common measurement criteria

5

• New Methodology in Service Availability –Aggregated DN:

• To prevent repeating calculations in the DNS and Email-based servers, all domain names are aggregated to the third level ccTLD to identify the registrants.

–Data Source: • Since acquiring all global server lists is nearly impossible, we

use the all list of top one million websites released by Alexa.

Conclusion

9

• We have developed an IPv6-enabled server detection tool for ccTLD registries. 4 ccTLD registries have provided the data.

• We encourage ccTLD registries to continuously provide their IPv6 service availability data on the BoF’s platform.

• The new methodology of the data acquisition of the third common criteria, service availability, based on the list of the 1 million Alexa web sites has been proposed to observe the trend of the service availability in ccTLD.
