The serious global environmental problems provoked by the enormous increase in the generation of urban solid waste over the last decades, has driven Governments in different countries to implement special policies for the responsible treatment of this waste.
The main problem facing these policies, in practical terms, is the availability of suitable sites for storage, treatment and handling of the waste.

El proceso de tratamiento de residuos de TAIM WESER combina la separación mecánica, el tratamiento biológico y el afino, con el objetivo de reciclar y compostar los productos obtenidos a partir de la recogida de residuos biológicos, unidos con restos de poda o residuos sólidos urbanos (RSU). El compost puede ser utilizado como un sustrato para suelos o como fertilizante, con el fin de cerrar la cadena del carbono orgánico en lugar de simplemente incinerarlo y, por tanto, transformarlo directamente en CO2.
De ahí que el compostaje y el reciclaje del residuo orgánico tengan un mayor valor ecológico y sostenible que la utilización de RSU en plantas incineradoras.

The TAIM WESER waste treatment process combines mechanical pre-sorting, biological treatment and refining in order to produce recyclables and compost out of separate collected bio-waste united with green-waste or municipal solid waste (MSW). The compost can be used as soil-improver or fertilizer in order to close the organic carbon chain instead of just burning it and thus transfer directly to CO2.
Therefore the composting and recycling of organic waste has a higher ecological and sustainable value than utilization of MSW in EfW/WtE-plants.
Der TAIM WESER Abfallbehandlungsprozess verbindet eine mechanische Voraufbereitung, biologische Behandlung und eine Nachbehandlung zur Erzeugung von Kompost und Wertstoffen aus separat erfasstem Biomüll zusammen mit Grünschnitt oder Siedlungsabfall. Der Kompost kann zur Bodenverbesserung oder als Dünger eingesetzt werden, um den organischen Kohlenstoffkreislauf zu schließen und verhindert damit die direkte Umsetzung zu CO2 durch Verbrennung.
Daher haben eine Kompostierung und das Recycling organischer Abfälle einen höheren ökologischen und nachhaltigen Stellenwert als die Verwertung von Siedlungsabfall in einer Müllverbrennungsanlage (MVA).

La función básica de las plantas de tratamiento mecánico-biológico es el procesado mecánico de los residuos sólidos urbanos (RSU), a través de la separación de los materiales reciclables y el tratamiento biológico de los componentes orgánicos.
