The Monaco Grand Prix
Monaco Grand Prix
This is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. Spectators delight in the raucous noise of the roaring engines as they speed along the Boulevard Albert 1er up toward the Casino and around the hairpin turn in front of the Fairmont Monte Carlo. Overtaking is next to impossible so qualifying in Monaco is more critical than at any other Grand Prix. The Portier corner is key to achieving a good lap time around Monaco. It is preceded by the Loews hairpin, the slowest corner in Formula One, and followed by the tunnel, one of the few fl at-out sections of the track.

The beautiful towns and cities which stand along the mysterious Black Sea coast assure a voyage of extreme beauty and a mosaic of fascinating cultures and history. Quaint towns with cosy squares and markets offering delicious local produce stand alongside thronging cities, golden sand beaches and luscious forest and mountain backdrops. Very few ships venture into these waters, yet itineraries focusing on the Black Sea are immensely popular and should not be missed. An added bonus to this particular holiday is that you will cruise on intimate and elegant Azamara Journey; a ship small enough to get right into the very heart of your destination. Azamara Club Cruises offer a relaxed , yet luxurious ‘country club’ feel on board and a ‘more inclusive’ package, meaning you get more for your money.

The scenery is unbelievable, with forests in a hundred shades of green, tumbling turquoise glaciers, and evocative towns loaded with history, culture and adventure.
7 Jun ‘13Arrive Vancouver and transfer to a 4* hotelfor 2 nights - at your leisureIf you could watch the history of Vancouver as a time-lapse movie, you’d see the creation of a sawmill and a community that grew up around it, which then became the townsite of Granville. Then comes the railroad, and development of the great natural harbor. Then: a sudden linkage to the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe. Immigrants come, business blooms, and the skyscrapers rise up along Burrard Inlet, always with the mountains visible in the spaces between the buildings. Go for the galleries, boutiques, public markets, and restaurants of every fl avor. Visit vibrant Chinatown and Stanley Park, with its 1,000 acres of forests, gardens, lakes and lawns in the heart of the city. 9 Jun ‘13Transfer to airport for fl ight back to UK

Review submitted at www.cruise.co.uk by: Huntley, Gravesend on 23rd April 2012
What a fantastic holiday we had. The group of 22 people who met at Beijing really jelled which made our cruise even better as there was always someone to
chat to. The China part of the holiday was excellent-nothing was too much trouble for the tour operator. The national guide Cynthia, and the local guides Jason, Beijing and Arran in Xian all spoke excellent English and were very informative. Strangely the day in Beijing most of us thought the best was the visit to the park for our Tai Chi lesson and to watch all the locals enjoy keep fi t sessions.

23 May ‘14 CannesIt is hard to believe that this glamorous haunt of the glitterati was once a sleepy fi shing village, but traces of its past do remain. The old harbor of St Pierre still shelters a fl otilla of fi shing boats alongside the luxurious super yachts, and Le Suquet, the heart of the old town, is still is a cobbled maze of picturesque lanes.
24 May ‘14 St TropezSt. Tropez conjures up images of sun-drenched beaches, tanned bodies, and jet setters enjoying martinis on the decks of luxury yachts. Indeed it is a glamorous playground for the wealthy, but anyone can spend an afternoon at a sidewalk café, watching the spectacle unfold. For mesmerizing views, head up to the 16th century Citadel. Or stroll the old town, overfl owing with restaurants, trendy boutiques, and galleries.

26 May ‘14 Barcelona (overnight)Dynamic Barcelona is all about architecture, from the magnifi cent medieval buildings of the Gothic Quarter to the Modernist movement typifi ed by the work of Antoni Gaudi. Though his materials were stone and metal, his forms were organic, awash in curves, swirls, and colours. His masterpiece is the amazing Church of the Sagrada Familia, colossal and as yet unfi nished, though construction began in 1882

Holiday HighlightsMonaco Grand Prix
Every spring, sports car fans from around the globe descend on the Principality of Monaco to witness the Monaco F1 Grand Prix. The Monaco Grand Prix is the one race of the year that every driver dreams of winning. Like the Indy 500 or Le Mans, it stands alone, almost distinct from the sport from which it was born. Some great names have ended their races in the barriers here, most notably Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher.
