Quicksilver Moodle theme…

Designing Moodle from the frontend

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer….

Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”

Fortune By Steve Jobs January 24, 2000

Lessons – design for your audience!

Switch on designers mode / purge cache

Decide what is critical content (usability)

Users / audience - Levels of technical ability (coders /non coders/ ICT phobics)

Planning your design before you implement - decide what is going to be global

Re-useable graphics and code

Don’t use tables unless basic and content is structure semantically

Keep design detail away from crucial content or make it subtle

Design best practice not too may styles of design elements

Banner sizes recommended – no more than 200px Good example ABC

Prioritise content - Main content should not sit at the bottom of the page

Structure your style sheet with a TOC
