MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

In the past two years, we have been inundated with news of abuse

from all over the country – of women, children, animals!! And there

is an equal amount of anger in the hearts of people over this. People

have taken to the streets in protest as these cases increase in

number. But the universe is under no obligation to make sense to us.

Mulling over negative events never did make, nor will make the

required difference. Concerned citizens have started to look for ways

to prevent crime and take ameliorative measures, by addressing

these issues with long-term solutions, or bring relief to the affected

victims.

A similar negative incident prompted us to upgrade our

infrastructure last year. We pooled our energies and augmented and

refurbished our existing Operating Theatre and constructed a new

Intensive Care Unit. We have furnished both with necessary

equipment to make our medical treatments more effective. Animal

owners are encouraged to speak up at our OPD sessions, through

enhanced communication between them and our Medical staff. These

two upgradations along with more enhanced doctor-patient

communication has increased people’s confidence in us and

transformed the lives of scores of animals who have no names or

addresses. The loss of one life led to the saving of several others. We

thank the Universe that we learned to see positives in some negative

events and turned it to the advantage of suffering animals. Our

Mission of moving towards a comprehensive hospital facility bore

fruits in the increment in the number of patients count that

increased from 13,784 in year 2016-17 to 16,836 in year 2017-18.

Through our annual participation in the Mumbai Marathon, we

developed our tagline “MOVING FORWARD”. Our Mission continues

with this drive and energy for the coming year reminding us to surge

ahead. As usual we have been blessed with the presence of our

partners besides us who helped us in so many ways to make this

journey possible.

Our strength is in your blessings and we pray that you will shower us

with it in large numbers till we meet again.

Shakuntala Majumdar (President)
