1.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
1.1 Purpose
To provide instructions for the startup, operation, and shut down of the 242-A Ventilation
Stack Monitor System.
1.2 Scope
This procedure applies to the 242-A Ventilation Stack Monitor System and its associated
instrumentation and controls.

3.0 PRECAUTIONS AND LIMITATIONS
3.1 Personnel Safety
3.1.1 Routine K1 system shutdown does not require the condenser room access to
be restricted.
3.2 Equipment Safety
3.2.1 None.
3.3 Radiation and Contamination Control
3.3.1 Follow radiological work planning process(s) contained in
TFC-ESHQ-RP_RWP-C-03, ALARA Work Planning.
3.4 Environmental Compliance
3.4.1 To ensure reporting requirements are met, all unplanned outages of the K-1
exhaust ventilation system to include the exhaust monitoring systems, must
be immediately reported to the appropriate Shift Office and Environmental
per TF-REC-001.
3.4.2 Operation of the K-1 exhaust ventilation system without the exhaust
monitoring systems should be minimized and not occur until the appropriate
Shift Office and Environmental are notified per TF-REC-001.
3.4.3 Shutdown of the K-1 ventilation exhaust system in co-junction with the
vessel vent for periods of time greater than or equal to 24 hours requires the
implementation of ALARACT 29.1 controls. (TFC-ESHQ-ENV-STD-06)

4.3.1 IF starting the HVAC system up after a power outage or when exhausters
have been secured for greater than 24 hours, PERFORM Checklist 1, to
ensure proper line up of electrical systems.

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Operate the Stack Monitoring Cabinet
NOTE - Activity Levels of Section 5.1 may be performed as directed by Shift Manager.
- Switching or shutting down Exhaust Fans will shut down the operating sample
pump and activate alarms (Low Beta Sample Flow, Low Record Sample Flow,
Pump #1 Failure and #2 Failure). Vacuum pumps will not start unless alarms
(Low Beta Sample Flow, Low Record Sample Flow, Pump #1 Failure and #2
Failure) have been cleared.
- Stack Monitoring cabinet K1-ENCL-400 is powered from distribution panel
A242-DP-L, by way of MCC-2 Compartment A3.
- When starting sample pumps flow will normally stabilize in 1-3 minutes.
Initial Start Up of K1-ENCL-400 Stack Monitoring Cabinet
5.1.1 CHECK enclosure K1-ENCL-400 is energized.
5.1.1.1 IF K1-ENCL-400 is not energized, PERFORM Electrical
Configuration per Checklist 1 AND
CONTINUE with this section.
5.1.2 OPEN door of K1-ENCL-400 stack sampling cabinet.

5.1.4 CLOSE door on the K1-ENCL-400 stack sampling cabinet.
5.1.5 IF any alarms on front of K1-ENCL-400 cabinet are active,
PRESS ALARM RESET push button PB-6.
NOTE - Placing selector switch SW-1 in the AUTO position for both the
LOCAL (K1-ENCL-400) and REMOTE (MCS) activates the
AUTOMATIC Sample Pump switch over functions. Either PB-1 or PB-2
buttons being latched in will defeat the auto pump switch.
- Placing selector switch SW-1 in the HAND position will not allow Sample
Pump switch over to occur.
5.1.6 CONFIRM selector switch SW-1 is in the AUTO position.
5.1.7 CONFIRM PB-1 and PB-2 are not LATCHED IN.
5.1.8 IF starting the sample pumps from the MCS, GO TO Section 5.2.
5.1.9 IF starting the sample pumps LOCALLY at K1-ENCL-400,
GO TO Section 5.3.

5.2 Start the Stack Monitoring Cabinet in REMOTE Mode on the MCS
5.2.1 GO TO Graphic Screen (G22) AND
PERFORM the following:
5.2.1.1 CLICK switch HS-1-1 icon AND
SELECT Accept.
5.2.1.2 WAIT approximately 30 seconds.
5.2.1.3 CHECK flow is indicated at FI-1-1 and FI-1-2.
5.2.1.4 WHEN flow has stabilized on FI-1-1 and FI-1-2 at 1.9-2.1
SCFM, PRESS PB-6 at K1-ENCL-400 to clear alarms.
5.2.1.5 IF alarms did not clear, INFORM Shift Manager.

5.3 Start Stack Monitoring Cabinet Locally (K1-ENCL-400) in AUTO
5.3.1 TO start sample pump locally at the K1-ENCL-400,
PRESS push button PB-3.
5.3.2 WAIT approximately 30 seconds.
5.3.3 CHECK sample pump run status, PUMP #1 ACTIVATED lamp is LIT,
OR
CHECK sample pump run status, PUMP #2 ACTIVATED lamp is LIT.
5.3.3.1 CONFIRM CB3 is ON.
a. IF sample pump did not start, CYCLE selector switch
SW-1 to OFF then back to AUTO one time only AND
GO TO Step 5.3.1,
OR
IF sample pump still will not start,
NOTIFY the Shift Manager.
5.3.4 ALLOW flow to stabilize on both FITC-2 and FITC-3 at 1.9-2.1 SCFM.
5.3.5 IF in Alarm, PRESS ALARM RESET push button PB-6.
5.3.5.1 IF alarms do not clear, INFORM Shift Manager.

5.4 Switch/Swap Sample Pumps
5.4.1 IF switching the sample pumps REMOTELY on the MCS,
GO TO Step 5.4.3.
5.4.2 IF switching the sample pumps LOCALLY at K1-ENCL-400, using AUTO
position GO TO Step 5.4.4.
5.4.3 TO switch the sample pumps REMOTELY on the MCS,
GO TO Graphic Screen (G22).
5.4.3.1 CLICK hand switch HS-1-2 AND
SELECT Accept.
5.4.3.2 WAIT until flow on FI-1-1 and FI-1-2
has stabilized at 1.9-2.1 SCFM.
5.4.3.3 PRESS ALARM RESET push button PB-6
located at K1-ENCL-400.
5.4.3.4 CHECK alarms have cleared.
5.4.3.5 IF alarms did not clear, INFORM Shift Manager.
5.4.4 TO switch the sample pumps LOCALLY in AUTO position
at K1-ENCL-400, PRESS push button PB-5.
5.4.4.1 WAIT until flow on FITC-2 and FITC-3
has stabilized at 1.9 - 2.1 SCFM.
5.4.4.2 PRESS ALARM RESET button PB-6.
5.4.4.3 CHECK all lights and alarms have cleared.
5.4.4.4 IF alarms do not clear, INFORM Shift Manager.
5.5 Restore sample pumps after fan swap or short term shutdown
5.5.1 AT K1-ENCL-400, PRESS PB-6 Alarm Reset AND
WAIT 30 seconds for pump to start.
5.5.2 ALLOW flow to stabilize on FITC-2 and FITC-3 at 1.9-2.1 SCFM and
PRESS PB-6 Alarm Reset.

5.6 Shutdown of the Stack Monitoring System
5.6.1 IF shutting down the sample Pump remotely on the MCS, PERFORM the
following:
5.6.1.1 GO TO Graphic Screen (G22).
5.6.1.2 CLICK on switch HS-1-1 icon AND
SELECT Accept.
5.6.1.3 IF full valve out of the sample cabinet is required,
GO TO Step 5.6.3.
5.6.2 IF shutting down the Sample Pump LOCALLY at K1-ENCL-400,
PERFORM the following:
5.6.2.1 PRESS PB-3 Start/Stop button.
5.6.2.2 TURN selector switch SW-1 to the OFF position.
5.6.3 IF required by Shift Manager, PERFORM stack sampling cabinet valving
located in K1-ENCL-400 as follows:
