Resident Council (Officers, Floor Representatives, Committees)

The purpose of the Richland Place Resident Council (Articles 1 and 2 of the

Bylaws) are:

● To Promote and further the common interests of the residents of Richland

Place, hereinafter called “The Community”.

● To assist the Board of Directors, Director, and staff in promoting a

healthful, enjoyable, and useful life for its residents.

● To be a channel of communication between the residents and the

Community management.

● To work with the Community management to recommend rules and

regulations for maintaining quality of services, facilities, and programs for

the Community.

The Residents Council shall consist of the following voting members: two

residents from each floor representing the residents of their respective floors;

the chairpersons of all standing committees elected by the Council, and the

President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer elected by the residents.

chairs, floor representatives and management.

Activities: Works with the Director of Activities to plan and schedule various

activities and events.

Building: Works with the Director to oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and

upkeep of the building.

Communications: Works with the Resident Council, management and various

committees in keeping up-to-date information online and accessible via the

Internet, rpbooks.weebly.com

Finance & Management: Works with management in establishing operating

and capital budgets to set spending priorities and oversees the individual funds

of each committee.

Flower: Arranges and maintains flowers for the atrium area of the first floor.

Assists in arranging fresh flowers for the Independent Living common areas and

the Dining Room at the Health Care Center.

Food: Works closely with the Food and Beverage Director to provide the

residents with the best food and service.

Gifts & Memorials: Receives and acknowledges receipt of all gifts and

memorials. The funds are delivered to the Treasurer for depositing in the correct

accounts as directed by the donors.

Grounds: Works with the Director, Maintenance Supervisor and our contracted

landscaping firm on the planting and upkeep of our grounds. Coordinates the

assignment of the garden plots to residents. Outdoor Christmas decorations are

also coordinated by this committee.

House: Makes periodic inspections of the building interior, makes

recommendations on furniture and art in public areas, receives suggestions from

residents and recommends action.

Library: Coordinates the library to facilitate efficient use of the collection of

books and movies.

Library Information and Use Guidelines

The library collection is for the benefit of Richland Place residents. A resident is responsible for all items in the Library Collection checked out under his/her

name. A caregiver may check out an item for the benefit of a resident if it is signed out under the resident’s name and apartment number.

The central room of the library contains printed books. Large Print titles are

shelved here, as well as most of the non-fiction sections such as biography,

history, books about Tennessee, and a reference section. There is a special section of books written by Richland Place residents.

The Magazine Sharing Box is very popular and residents are encouraged to

donate their current magazines to share with others. A Photo Directory with Biographies of Richland Place Residents is on the central library table.

The second room of the library contains general fiction titles, some additional

non-fiction sections, and an extensive film collection in DVD format. There are notebooks listing the movies available and a movie sign-out and return book on

the oval table.

The Study located in the lobby has a computer, a printer, and a machine for low vision reading. The low vision reading machine can increase font size or convert

the text to audio format. Audio Books on CD are shelved and checked out in the

Study.

Checkout procedure for Books • Books are checked out in the Central Room. Enter the requested

information in the Checkout Notebook found on the table in the center of the room. Please sign a separate line for each item if you are checking out

more than one, and circle LP (Large Print) if appropriate. To renew a book, sign it out again with the current date.

To Return a Book

• Locate the line in the Checkout Notebook where you signed it out; write the date of return in the appropriate space. Do not return the item to the

shelf. • Place the item in the Return Box for Library Committee members to tally

and process.

The Great Courses by the Teaching Company

These represent complete courses of lectures in the areas of History, World Literature, Science and the Arts, taught by some of the outstanding

professors from major universities in the country. Our library owns many these; DVDs may be checked out in the Library; CDs are in the Study.

To donate material to the Library

• Donations of books, audio-books on CD, and DVDs are welcome. Place items in the box labeled “Donations” which is on a shelf to the right of the

entry door. Because shelf space is limited, titles that duplicate material already in the library will be donated to an appropriate charity.

Soda Shoppe

● Monday - Friday 8:00 am- 2:30 pm. Breakfast is served from 8:00 am-

10:00 am. Lunch is served from 11:00 am-2:30 pm. (Closed on all major

holidays.)

● Complimentary coffee (regular and decaffeinated) is available until 2:30

pm.

● Menus are posted daily, and a calendar is handed out monthly with weekly

specials.

● Breakfast items, sandwiches, soups, and old fashioned milkshakes are

available.

● Cartons of milk, juice, bread, and other items are available for purchase.

● All visitors to the community are required to sign in. This includes family

members and caregivers/sitters.

● Contact the Concierge to place work orders for maintenance and

housekeeping.

● Please advise Concierge when leaving Richland Place overnight.

● Good Morning Club is a service we offer. You may sign up to place your

name on a list that will be kept at the front desk. Those on the list must

call or report to the front desk every day before 10:00 am. If the

concierge has not heard from you or seen you by then, staff will call and,

if no answer, will come to your apartment to check on you.

● There is a copy machine available for your convenience. The concierge can

assist you with making copies. Faxing is available for local numbers only.

A notary public is available upon request and by appointment Monday

through Friday except on holidays.

● Study - located off main lobby

○ Daily copies of The Tennessean, Wall Street Journal and New York

Times are available for reading in the study (not to be removed).

○ A computer and printer are located there for use by residents.

Mail Room

● The mail usually arrives between 9:00 a.m. and Noon.

● The bulletin board is extremely important and should be checked every

day. Notices and updates are posted on the bulletin board.

● The Activities Director produces an activities calendar monthly that will be

placed in your internal mailbox at the end of each month for the coming

month.

● A black binder and clipboards are used to sign up for activities.

● The Activities Director updates an electronic calendar, located in the Lobby

just outside the mail room, with each day’s activities.

Beauty Salon

● Full service salon serving both men and women.

○ The Salon is available Tuesday through Friday for hair appointments.

Game Room

● A regulation size pool table is available for use by residents. Bridge cards

and board games are available. Guests may use the pool table if

accompanied by a resident. See pool table rules posted in game room

and in guest rooms.

● When you have children visiting, please make sure they understand safety

rules and expectations and keep an eye on young children for their safety

and the safety of other residents.

Guest Rooms

● Two guest rooms are available for guests of residents. The resident must

make the reservation for their guest. To make a reservation, see the

Concierge.

● Guest room #1 has a King size bed. Room #2 has two double beds.

○ You may obtain a key at the Concierge desk

○ The cost for one night is $110.00.

○ Check in is 3pm, check out is 11am.

○ Guest room #1’s direct phone number is 615-383-9086.

○ Guest room #2 does not have a direct phone #. Please call the

Concierge Desk, 615-269-4200, and ask for extension 1353.

Fitness Room, Pool and Hot Tub

● Pool rules are posted. Always have a buddy to use the pool or hot tub. You

must accompany guests, especially children. It is recommended that you

wear a robe in route to the pool area. If you do not have one, the Activities

Office has white terry cloth robes with the Richland Place monogram available

for purchase.

● You may use the equipment in the Fitness Room as you wish. Please contact

fitness trainer for instruction. There is a personal trainer available weekly to

work individually with residents (check activities calendar for times).

● Exercise classes with an instructor are listed on the monthly calendar.

Classes include: Watercise, Stretch Class, Get Fit Class, Zumba, Chaircise,

Yoga and Chair Dancing.

Laundry Rooms (located on each floor)

● Please consider others by not using machines late at night.

● Appliances include two washers, two dryers, ironing board, iron and a laundry

sink. It is not necessary to sign up for use, but consideration should be

shown in monitoring use of the appliances and leaving the room as clean as

possible. Be sure to balance your loads and do not overload, especially with

throw rugs. This saves wear and tear on the machines and reduces water

damage.

● Please clean lint traps inside and underneath as well as dryer doors.

Trash and Recycle Rooms (located on second through fifth floor)

● Trash is picked up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

● Place non-recyclable trash in tied plastic bags and set outside your door

between 8pm the night before pickup and 7am the day of pickup.

● Recyclable items are picked up on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

● They should be placed in the blue bin (or whatever container you have

designated for recycling). You may take trash and recycling to the trash

rooms that are located at the end of the hall on the second through fifth floor

whenever you choose. The chute is for bagged trash; boxes should never be

placed down the chute (they are recyclable and they block the chute). The

large cart is for recycling only of paper, plastic and cardboard. In addition,

there are boxes for recycling batteries and large rubber trashcans for

recycling glass. If you cannot flatten large cardboard boxes, place them on

the floor in the trash room. See Richland Place Recycle Program for more

information on recycling (page 16).

Apartment Amenities

● Cleaning. Apartment cleaning is done weekly. A deep cleaning of your

apartment may be scheduled once a year available upon request. Balcony

cleaning is available by request. Contact the Housekeeping Supervisor in

the Table of Contents for any housekeeping questions or concerns. For

details on weekly cleaning services see Housekeeping Weekly Cleaning.

Your housekeeper will coordinate with you to determine the best time to

clean your apartment.

○ Hangings such as flower baskets and hummingbird feeders should

not extend over the edge of the balcony. They endanger those

below. There is a light switch for your balcony inside the living room

door. You should have a special key to turn on the balcony water

faucet. If unavailable, advise maintenance.

○ Newspaper subscriptions. If you subscribe to newspapers, your

subscription will be delivered to your door by the newspaper delivery

system.

○ Your monthly fee paid to Richland Place includes Comcast cable

(Limited Basic) and basic Wi-Fi. To activate additional services, you

should contact Comcast and subscribe to the level of service you

desire. Other programming (Sports, HBO, Cinemax, etc.) and

hardwired internet can be secured with additional fees. Be sure to

remind them that you are at Richland Place and that the basic level

of service is being paid by Richland Place so you are not charged for

this service. When you get your first bill from Comcast, check to be

sure there is no charge under ‘Basic Service’.

Housekeeping Weekly Cleaning Richland Place provides a weekly cleaning of your apartment. Towels and bed

sheets are furnished if you wish. Expect the following items to be addressed:

Transportation

• The Richland Place Chauffeur drives the limousine for physician or

dentist visits, errands to grocery, dry cleaners, drug stores, during

the hours of 8:00am - 4:30pm. Please make appointments through

the Concierge or directly with the Chauffeur at 615-969-3655.

• Transportation is only provided to destinations within a 5 mile radius

of Richland Place.

• The Chauffeur drives the 24-passenger Coach for selected

Symphony, Ballet, Opera, and Repertory Theater dates as well as

field trips.

• By appointment, airport transportation is available weekdays during

the Chauffeur’s regular hours. There is a $15 fee for any guests

accompanying a resident.

● Social Activities

○ Residents pursue many interests in addition to regularly scheduled

bingo, trivia and billiards. These include monthly parties, bridge,

devotionals, exercise classes, lectures, knitting, book clubs, and

volunteer work.

■ A continental breakfast is served every Tuesday in the Soda

Shoppe for men at 9:00 am.

■ A continental breakfast is served every Wednesday in the

Soda Shoppe for women at 9:00 am.

■ Bingo, Bridge Workshops, Scrabble, Trivia, Pool and Mah

Jongg are scheduled regularly.

■ During your birthday month, you and a guest will receive a

free special dinner during our monthly birthday party.

■ Special Events are held monthly. You may invite guests for a

small charge.

■ A social hour is held every Friday (BYOB) in the Rendezvous

Room next to the dining room.

■ Speakers are scheduled from time to time.

Miscellaneous

● Tax Information

○ A percentage of your monthly service fee that is related to certain

direct health care expenditures may be permitted as a medical

deduction on your income tax return. The percentage is determined

each year and may vary from year to year. In addition, those

residents who moved into Richland Place during the year may be

able to apply a percentage of their entry fee as a tax deduction.

Each resident will receive a communication from Richland Place

annually that contains the exact amount one may use as a tax

deduction. This information will be available around the middle of

February after our annual audit is completed.

● Insurance

○ Richland Place insurance does not cover the contents of your

apartment. You should contact your carrier to obtain this coverage.

Most rental insurance will give a credit for sprinklers and fire alarms,

which Richland Place provides. It is suggested that your coverage

include water damage from sprinklers.

● No Tipping Policy

○ Richland Place employees (partners) are prohibited from accepting

gratuities, monetary or otherwise, from residents or their families. A

kind word or note is always welcomed by staff members.

○ A resident-funded Holiday Fund rewards all employees for their

service for the year. The Resident Council distributes information

about the Partner Holiday Fund to all residents in November each

year. Contributing to this fund is optional, but it is the residents’

opportunity to show their appreciation for the entire year. Funds

collected are distributed to over 200 Partners based on the number

of hours worked that year.

○ PEP cards are available at the concierge desk. These cards give

residents the opportunity to thank partners for extraordinary

service.

● Estate Sales

○ It is not permissible to hold an outside/public estate sale in your

apartment home.

Private Duty Personnel (Caregivers or others employed by residents)

Code of Conduct

New Caregivers employed by residents must obtain and complete the Caregiver

Information Packet. This packet should be picked up from the Concierge Desk

and returned there upon completion.

All caregivers must:

● Dress professionally and be well groomed at all times.

● Register at the Concierge Desk each time they enter the building.

● Always wear a nametag for identification. See the Concierge Desk to

obtain a permanent nametag.

● Be cordial at all times, not only to residents, but also to Richland Place

staff.

● Refrain from talking on a cell phone when in any public areas.

● Refrain from solicitation.

● Park in the side parking lot on the west side of the building, which has

been designated for caregivers, employees of residents and Richland Place

Partners (except for places designated as “Reserved” which are assigned

to residents).

● Refrain from eating in the dining room. Caregivers who must wait for a

resident in the dining room may do so in the lounge, if it is not in use.

● Refrain from loitering in the lobby, at the Concierge Desk, in the Soda

Shoppe, the sitting area outside the dining room or in any common area.

● Refrain from smoking anywhere in the building. A designated smoking

area is located outside behind the building.

● Be with the resident for whom they are working to eat in the Soda

Shoppe. Carryout is available in the Soda Shoppe.

● Request assistance from wait staff to assemble Resident carryout meals

from the dining room. Caregivers must wait for their delivery in the

lounge.

● Place Sunday Brunch order for a resident by going to the dining room and

filling out a menu and handing the menu to the host. You may wait in the

lounge. When the meal is prepared it will be placed in the lounge with the

resident’s name on it.

● Abide by the Library Use Guidelines when checking out material from the

Library.

Recycle Program

Many residents of Richland Place have an interest in recycling. Recycling saves

natural resources and energy, and saves on the cost of removing our large amount of trash. Please help our recycling efforts. Our goal is to send a clean

stream of recyclables to the recycling facility.

How You Can Help:

● Green containers: Styrofoam containers from the kitchen are not recyclable and must be trashed. Please consider using the green

containers, available by request, from the kitchen if you would like to take

food to your apartment. After using them, please rinse well and return them to the dining room, accessed through the back door. They will then

be run through a complete dishwasher cycle and sanitized to be made available for further use.

● Read the following page to learn what is and is not recyclable, and when

pickup times are for recyclables and trash.

● Recycle bins in the trash room: These can be an alternative or supplement to your weekly collections. The large bin is for recyclables only, but trash

should be placed down the chute in a tied plastic bag.

● Glass: Glass can be recycled, but not through the Metropolitan Nashville recycling program. Each trash room has a closed bin with a sign that reads

“Glass Only”. Put all of your glass, emptied and clean, with tops removed,

in the container. Richland Place staff will take them to a nearby recycling location that accepts glass.

● Plastic bags: Plastic bags are not recyclable at Richland Place. They may

be used as garbage bags or included in your trash. Most grocery stores have receptacles for plastic bags. You will help the environment if you take

your own reusable bags to the grocery store versus using plastic bags.

● Batteries: These also are not recycled through Metro’s Recycling Program but should be disposed of properly. Each trash room has a small box for

battery disposal only. They will be taken to a Nashville waste disposal site.

● Medications: For proper disposal of outdated or unused medications, do not flush them down the drain. Rather, mix them with coffee grounds and

place in your trash bag. Medication bottles may be recycled, and labels

should be removed. Alternately, the Police Station on Charlotte Pike and the Belle Meade Police Station have disposal bins for medications.

269-4200.

Dining

The service and culinary staff’s goal is to make your dining experience a pleasant one. Mealtimes are not just a time for nourishing your body, but also a

time for rich social interactions. With this in mind, a lovely dining room setting has been created, extensive dining hours established, and a varied menu

provided for you and your guests. Buffet and restaurant style dining is provided

daily. In addition, takeout service, catering and room service is available upon request. A fresh whole fruit display is provided in the front of the dining room.

Please h help yourself to one piece of fruit per meal. The dining room regularly serves decaffeinated coffee. If you would like caffeinated coffee, please inform

your wait staff.

One meal a day (lunch or dinner) is included in your monthly service fee. You may have both lunch and dinner for an additional charge. The dining room

requires a system for recording and computing meal charges and asks your cooperation with this system by following these simple rules:

● You may eat lunch or dinner. It is not necessary to advise us of your meal

choice.

● For evening meals and for Sunday Brunch, please wait for the dining staff

to assist in seating you allowing us to record an accurate meal count.

● Enter the dining room using the main entrance by the host podium.

● You may leave through any exit you wish at the end of your meal.

Caregivers may pick up at the dining room back door only

For buffet meals, you may place your order for pick up or use to-go containers

at the buffet to prepare yourself an appropriately portioned meal. Caregivers are not allowed to go to the buffet tables. A staff member will prepare the meal for

their resident. All to-go orders will be on disposable ware. In the dining room, you may ask your server for a to-go container for any leftovers on your plate

that you wish to take home.

Tray Service for Illness

Tray delivery to your apartment is available. Call the dining room at least one hour in advance of the mealtime to order your tray. Complimentary service is

limited to three deliveries per month; thereafter a charge of $3.50 per delivery will be added to your account. A “Feel Better” Menu can be substituted for your

daily meal or can be purchased. The menu is variable but normally consists of

Applesauce, Chicken Noodle Soup, Crackers, Cottage Cheese, Jell-O or Pudding, Ginger Ale or Sprite.

Always-Available Dinner Menu

There is a special menu available for dinners that includes a filet mignon,

salmon, triple salad, and more. The items change occasionally, so ask the dining room staff for a copy of the current menu.

Special Dietary Needs

Residents with special dietary needs are requested to contact the Dining

Manager or the staff dietitian for advice on ordering their meals. The daily menu offers many meal choices to accommodate restrictive diets.

Dining Room Reservations

Reservations are required for parties of five or more. Please make reservations with the Food & Beverage Director 24 hours in advance. Reservations and

RSVP’s are also suggested for special occasion meals (e.g. Mother's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) to aid the staff in preparations.

Catering

The food service department is capable of providing numerous catering services

for residents and their guests. For a catering menu and further information, please contact the Food & Beverage Director two weeks in advance.

Guests

Your guests are always welcome to dine with you at Richland Place. All guest are to be accompanied by a resident. Please contact the Food & Beverage Director

for further arrangements and reservations.

Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch is a special event at Richland Place. A bountiful selection of salads, breakfast and lunch entrees and desserts are available for your selection

from the buffet. Dining hours are from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Please make reservations for parties over five people with the dining staff by 6:00 p.m.

Saturday evening. Brunch is the only meal served on Sunday.

A full breakfast can be purchased in the Soda Shoppe, Monday-Friday. The Soda

Shoppe opens at 7:30 each weekday morning. Complimentary coffee is available throughout the day. Breakfast hours are 8-10a.m. Lunch hours are 11am- 2pm.

Takeout Policy

● Evening Meal

○ If you wish to order your evening meal for takeout, please call the

dining room between 3:00 and 5:00 to place your order for pickup. The direct phone number for the dining room is 615-620-8697.

○ If you cannot place your order during the specified time, please be

prepared to be placed on HOLD if you call the Dining Room during

service hours.

○ Once you place your order, you may pick it up any time after 5:30pm at the back door. Your order will be prepared beginning 10

minutes before pick up time.

● Lunch or Brunch

○ For lunch or brunch takeout, you may come and fill your own to-go boxes or you may call the dining room to have them prepared.

○ Caregivers are not allowed to go through buffets and must wait for a

dining partner to attend to their orders.

○ A whole fresh fruit display is provided in front of the dining room. All

residents are entitled to one piece of fruit per dining room meal. Fruit is only available for pickup during dining hours.

○ Monthly lunch and dinner menus are provided at the beginning of

every month. You may request receiving the menus via email or have a paper copy delivered to your internal mailbox. They are also

online and can be found at rpbooks.weebly.com. Please refer to them when placing to-go Orders.

Parking

The Community provides two parking options for residents. Residents can be

assigned a reserved space in the surface lot outside to the west of the building

without cost or can choose to be assigned a rented space in the parking garage

for $85 a month. Each resident is restricted to a parking space either in the

garage or in the reserved parking spaces in the west parking lot.

The front parking lot is reserved for visitors, short-term parking, and loading

and unloading only.

Cars that are no longer being driven cannot be stored in the outside lot or in the

basement. Parking is a limited at Richland Place and we appreciate your

cooperation.

Residents are to park in their reserved spot in the side surface lot or the parking

garage.

Only one garage door opener will be issued to each car in the garage or surface

lot.

When one becomes a permanent resident of the Health Center, his/her parking

space will be relinquished.

When one no longer has a car, please notify the Director so the parking space

may be reassigned.

Residents are encouraged to free up garage parking spaces when they no longer

drive. If a resident has purchased his/her parking space in a prior year, a refund

is available upon request.

Emergency Procedures

Fire Safety Procedures

If you discover a fire in your apartment:

● Get out of your apartment immediately. DO NOT take time to remove

personal belongings. ● Shut the door to your apartment. DO NOT take time to lock it.

● Activate the fire alarm by pulling the pull station located in the corridor at the exit door.

● Evacuate via the nearest safe stairwell or exit door.

If you hear the fire alarm but the fire is not in your apartment:

● Stay in your apartment. ● Keep the door closed and unlocked.

● Close all windows and keep the door to the balcony closed. ● Wait for instructions from staff or the Fire Department.

If the smoke detector in your apartment activates and there is no fire:

● Notify the front desk or the Manager’s Office. Staff will respond to your apartment to investigate. The detector located in your apartment will not

cause the lights and horns to activate throughout the building.

If you encounter smoke while in your apartment and the fire is not in your apartment:

● Stuff wet towels under the door and wait by an open window. Open the

window only far enough so you can wave a towel or clothing to alert the Fire Department to your location.

If you cannot walk down the stairs, go into the nearest stairwell and wait for the

staff or firefighters to help you. Do not use the elevator.

If you are in a common area or corridor when the alarm sounds, attempt to

enter a nearby apartment or room. If this is not possible, enter into a fire rated stairwell and wait for further instructions from staff or firefighter.

● Fire Exits

○ There are sprinklers installed throughout the building and our

apartments. All front doors to apartments have two-hour fire doors.

○ Fire Exits are located on each floor. Make yourself familiar with the

locations.

○ Fire Extinguishers are located on each floor. Locate the ones nearest

your apartment for use in an emergency. Additionally we

recommend you keep a small fire extinguisher in your unit.

○ Richland Place instructs all residents annually on fire procedures.

● Security Cameras

○ There are a total of 64 security cameras installed, 48 on the

Independent Living side and 16 installed on the Health Care side.

They are installed in the main floor, the garage and all resident

hallways. The cameras cover all stairways, elevators, all hallways

and outside entrances.

EMERGENCY PLANNING GUIDE

Introduction

Independent Living at Richland Place offers much in the way of comfort and convenience. However, residents are strongly encouraged to make independent

basic plans to live comfortably should an emergency occur. See the

recommended list of personal supplies printed on page 26 in your Richland Place Orientation Manual.

This Guide is for Independent Living Residents, to inform them of procedures to

be used in the event of an emergency requiring special situation planning. Residents with pets must make independent plans to care for them. Residents

who use Caregivers or walkers must provide their own support needs.

Communication

Should an emergency occur at Richland Place, a Command Center, managed by our Director or designated representative, will be established in the conference

room behind the Concierge desk. A person on each floor with an AT&T land line and Floor Representatives on each floor will be the communicators to transmit

information to residents. These persons with AT&T Landlines currently are:

• 1st Floor - Peggy Downing (615-386-9659) and Libby Nicholson (615-

298-1893) • 2nd Floor – Lester Smith (615-383-0666)

• 3rd Floor – Helen Reed (615-383-7915) • 4th Floor – Deb Reitinger (615-783-0088)

Electrical Power Failure

General – There will be no power in apartments and common areas during a

power outage. There will be no heat, air conditioning or elevator operation. Minimum lighting will be in hallways, stairwells and public bathrooms. Residents

using the stairways do so at their own risk. Opening or closing garage doors requires assistance from maintenance. When an emergency occurs, attempts

will be made to determine duration. Refrain from calling the Concierge as

this blocks the line for information gathering or sharing. New information will be communicated as it becomes available.

Food Service – Limited food preparation and serving will be available for short

term failures. Food service timing changes will be communicated.

Widespread power grid failure – The extent of damage and repair timing will

take time to assess. Updates will be provided by the Floor Representatives.

Suggested Emergency Supply List

Items to have in your apartment

● Water

Store one gallon per person, replace every six months.

● Food Ready to eat canned meats, fruit, vegetables, canned juices, bottled

Gatorade, peanut butter, nuts and trail mix. Replace these items

periodically. Army Field Rations are also an option.

● Medications Prescription medications and normal supplies of Tylenol, Aleve,

Aspirin, antacid, laxative, cold medicine, etc.

● First Aid Kit Sterile adhesive bandages, scissors, tweezer, safety pins and baby

wipes.

● Tools and Supplies Paper cups, plates and plastic utensils. Battery operated radio and

extra batteries. Flashlight and extra batteries. Lantern, LED type suggested. Manual can opener and bottle opener.

● Sanitation Toilet paper, plastic garbage bags, five-gallon plastic bucket,

chlorine bleach, liquid hand soap, alcohol.
