Dear Guests and Colleagues:
Welcome to the Canadian Association of Business Incubation’s 24th Annual Conference!
CABI is proud to be the Voice in Canada for innovation through business incubation and
acceleration by fostering collaboration between universities/colleges, governments, business
incubators and accelerators from both the public and private sectors and has been a vehicle for
effective change for the past 24 years. CABI continues to support the growth of best practices
across Canada through information dissemination to all regions of Canada and through CABI’s
Incubator and Accelerator Accreditation Program©.
As CABI celebrates Growing Canada’s Futures without Borders, we are especially pleased to
host our conference at the Sheraton on the Falls, boasting one of the World’s most spectacular
views as they are located directly across from the Niagara Falls in the heart of Niagara's premier
Fallsview tourist district
Some conference attendees are new to the industry and others are seasoned industry
professionals. This combination of experience levels provides a great opportunity to share,
discover, and learn.
I hope you enjoy the conference, make new industry connections and take home some fresh and
innovative ideas that will benefit your accelerator or business incubation program.
Once again, welcome to Niagara Falls and to CABI’s 24th Annual Conference!

Conference Co-
Chair

Dear Conference Attendees and Invited Guests,
It is with great pleasure that I get to welcome you to the Canadian Association of Business
Incubation’s 24th Annual Conference in breathtaking Niagara Falls.
This year’s conference is sure to be filled with lively discussions on those issues impacting
incubators and accelerators today. Keeping with tradition, the friendships and collaborations
formed during the conference’s social events will make sure the industry is strong and moving in
a positive direction for years to come.
This year’s conference theme of Leading Canada’s Future without Borders seems fitting as we
welcome a number of international attendees. We hope that the relationships and knowledge
gained will allow our international friends to leave the conference with “Made in Canada”
solutions that will advance incubation and acceleration globally.
I encourage all attendees and their guests to explore the Niagara Region and all that it has to
offer. Whether you choose to spend an afternoon touring the 80+ wineries in the region;
catching a show at the Shaw Theatre; shopping; golfing at one of the world class courses in the
area; trying your luck at one of the casinos; or, exploring our past by visiting Fort George or Fort
Erie, the Niagara Region has something for everyone.
I hope you enjoy your time in Niagara Falls, and bring home with you a wealth of knowledge
that you can apply to your incubator or accelerator and the clients you assist every day.

Conference Guests and Colleagues,
On behalf of Innovate Niagara, it is with great pride and pleasure that I welcome you to the
beautiful Niagara region, and to CABI’s 24th Annual Conference.
In five short years, we have seen the steady growth of Innovate Niagara’s incubator network to
include the Generator at one interactive digital media facility, the Goodman School of Business'
BioLinc, and most recently, iHub - the District School Board of Niagara and Brock University
Educational Research and Innovation Hub. We have also developed strong service partnerships
in the agricultural and advanced manufacturing sectors – both key industries in Niagara.
Collaboration and support between municipal, private, and public sectors has been key to
advancing innovative entrepreneurship across industries; we are seeing that collaboration extend
to include our innovative neighbours across the river, and beyond. Leading Canada’s Future
without Borders is a fitting theme for our location, and the perfect opportunity to discover
opportunities for continued collaboration.
I would encourage you to explore the Niagara region and take in the natural beauty that affords
our clients, portfolio companies, and service providers a uniquely vibrant and balanced quality of
life.

On behalf of the City of Niagara Falls I am delighted to have you here to participate and share in
the 2015 Canadian Association of Business Incubation (CABI) Annual Conference. CABI is
committed to fostering collaboration and continues to support the growth of best practices across
Canada through information dissemination to all regions. This year, CABI’s theme Leading
Canada’s Future without Borders shows the commitment of the CABI organization to serve
incubators/accelerators from both private and public sectors across Canada and North America.
In Niagara Falls, we have invested in innovative economic generators and have used things like
large scale events, the Business Innovation Zone incubator hub and Community Improvement
Plans to bolster our economy. We know that we can’t cut our way to prosperity; we have to
invest our way there. CABI ensured our full potential by providing practical step-by-step
assistance through development, education, and networking while building and growing our
incubator.
Niagara Falls is a global destination, home to 12 million tourists each year with an established
tourism infrastructure that’s continually evolving to meet the ever-changing demands of business
and vacation travelers. Niagara Falls is fueled by new attractions, casino resorts a major
convention centre, and is an international leader in the hotel and accommodation sector.
I welcome and invite every participant to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Niagara Falls, take in
the many attractions such as Hornblower Boat Cruises, our world-class golf courses, and our
prestigious wine industry that will keep you coming back for more year after year.
