Surge 16 will be held on 25 th and 26 th February,2016, in our college campus at Ayurvihar, Sion. Last year more that 4000 students had attended and participated in our cultural festival to make it a platform where enormous scales of talent were displayed. Inspired by the success of SURGE 15 the Students Council is tremendously motivated to organize a bigger, better and different event than before. We are vastly passionate of creating a cultural festival with a difference. Therefore Surge, as it serves our main purpose of being totally out of the box. We believe that Surge signifies a blend of various ideas, flavors & cultures. It also represents vibrancy which is precisely what we want to showcase by means of Surge16. About Surge About College K. J. Somaiya Institute Of Engineering And Information Technology was established by the Somaiya Trust in the year 2001 at the Ayurvihar campus, Sion. The ideas and ideals on which Pujya Shri K.J. Somaiya built this institute revolve around the imbibing cultural values among youth while imparting technical perspective and world wide trend in the IT, electronics, computers and telecom sector. The institute aims at all round development of students, thus making them future leaders. With this vision In mind, the entire student fraternity of the institute comes together to organize a cultural extravaganza, Surge. About THEME 1UP is based on classic games. The main objective of this theme is to give a reality touch to the gaming world. With this theme, everyone will be experience their favorite games in real life. We aim to create gatherings/ events for all ages to enjoy several interactive events and competition. In addition, we want to gather all video game enthusiasts to create day of joy and go down the memory lane of childhood. Social Causes SWACHHBHARAT FOR A BETTER TOMORROW Surge 2016 is following the footsteps of Prime Minsiter Sir Narendra Modi by adopting the Chunabhatti Railway Station. We have undertaken the responsibility of maintenance of the railway Station and it will also help in keeping it clean and hygienic. This will stand out as an example for Swach Bharat Abhiyan. This will provide a good & healthy environment to the commuters using the railway station. We are integrating our services and moving from welfare towards development &long term sustainability for seniors. Our aim is to help elders in their living & develop cconfidence among them. Social Causes OLD AGE HOME FOR A BETTER TOMORROW This year surge16 has also taken up an initiative to help the child labourers monetarily and by providing them support and fight for their basic rights. The 2011 national census of India found that total of 4.35 million numbers of children of age group 5-14 years are full time child labourers. And worldwide number is 217 million. These children are forced or have to work as labourers due to their social issues like poverty, illiteracy, and many other factors. Our initiative is to help them by providing them a helping hands by conducting events, donation drives, and helping them to at least gain primary education and to provide all basic child rights to bring back their lost childhood and happiness. We are trying to associate the NGO CRY (Child Rights and You) to help them in proper direction and provide them full support to their noble cause. Social Causes CLEAN MUMBAI FOR A BETTER TOMORROW This year surge16 has taken up an initiative to support P.M. Narendra Modis Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan. Under this cause we pledge to spread awareness and take up an initiative to clean up our surrounding and urge people not to litter the place hence forth. We have chosen this initiative because we will feel there is need to make a step forward and think of making our country and cleaner and healthier place to live in. In addition to cleaning we will also promote use of eco friendly and biodegradable materials and avoid using plastic bags and other such non degradable objects in our day to day life. In this way we think if people start following the above things, then we assure that cleaner healthier India in not far away. We are in talks with Hindustan Times for their help and support towards are mission. Inter Dance An inter college dance competition where in various reputed colleges will be participating to prove their mettle. We will be calling well known Bollywood Choreographers to judge our Event and perform. Intra Dance An intra college dance competition, where friends will become foes as students will compete with their friends on stage by putting their best foot forward and achieve something worthwhile, while maintaining the spirit of competition. Inter Singing Indian Idol Finalists will be invited to judge this highly popular extravaganza. This musical fiesta involves everything from rapping to musical duets. Star Events Adventure Sports Adventure sports involve activities which are unusual, physically exerting and exciting as well. These events add the ultimate thrill factor to test the endurance level and increase the adrenaline rush. Events like paintball (live counter strike), Zorbing will do the needful. Street Dance (Face off): Street dance at KJSIEIT promises a magical event. Witness students keep away their scientific calculators and dance their heart out. MGT: Mumbais Got Talent provides a platform for students to show the world what theyre made of.Dancing,rapping,singing,acting or standup comedy,if you can entertain the crowd for 2 mins. The stage is yours. Star Events War of Musical Instruments Surge goes back in time to medieval India. Show off your skills at the Raj darbar and see if its enough to earn the respect of the shehensha. DJ Night Experience plethora of fun while popular djs from across the world spin for glory. Fashion Show A royal fashion show wherein students from all across Mumbai with the support of fashion designers will showoff their desi royal side. Make statement known to the world with popular brands. Star Events Treasure Hunt Put on the over-coat and smoke the pipe cause youre about to play Sherlock Holmes. One hint will lead to another and the end point will be a grand prize. Intra Persona Fashion week model grooming artists are set to judge. This event guarantees to offer invaluable tips to our participants. Street Play At Surge16, this small time event will be promoted in a big way. We realize the ability of this event to convey a social message in an effective way. KJSIEIT has always found a way to influence the crowd with their bold but yet heart touching plays.
