    Turbine rotor driven by starting motor to min. speed (L14HM ) {16%/576rpm }. Purge Timer ( L2TV ) starts. Starting motor continue to turn rotor throughout purge cycle. Rotor speed increases above L14HM. At the end of the purge cycle the oil drains ( L20TU1X ) from torque converter. Turbine rotor speed decreases below 9.5% ( 342 rpm ). Torque converter set for firing torque ( LFIRE ).

    After rotor speed decreases below 9.5%

    speed, Torque converter fills with oil. Starting motor increases rotor speed up to 16%/576 rpm. Unit is now ready to "FIRE

    Gas control valves STOP/SRV and GCV

    open permissive ( L3GRV and L3GCV ). Ingition permissive ( L2TVX ). Purge timer ( L2TV ) complete. Firing timer ( L2F ) not complete ( 60 sec ). Min firing speed ( L14HM ) {16% / 576 rpm }. Neither "OFF" nor "CRANK" selected. ( L43O_C ). "WATER WASH" not selected. ( L43BWX ).

    Igniters energized. FSR set for FIRING ( L83SUFI ).16.3%

    Message FIRING START-UP CONTROL

    Combustion confirmed by primary flame detectors. Message FLAME # A # etc.

    Unit goes to "WARM UP" if flame is detected within 60 seconds firing time ( L2W ). Confirmation of flame is by all primary flame detectors ( 28FD ).

    After flame is detected: Rotor speed increases slightly during WARM-UP. FSR set for WARM-UP value ( L83SUWU ).13.8% Warm-up timer ( L2W ) { 60sec } starts.

    OPERATIONAL NOTE: If Operation Selector is not Message set for AUTO the start-up will not progress beyond WARMING UP WARM-UP.

    WARM-UP TIMER COMPLETE.

    Torque converter set to acceleration torque

    FSR increases ( ramps ) at 0.05% / sec ( FSKSU_IA ) ,increases fuel flow and rotor speed.

    Message ACCELERATING

    Acceleration Control assumes control of fuel flow ( decreasing FSR ) when rate of speed increase exceeds acceleration rate ( TAKLn ).

    Message ACCEL. CONTROL

    When turbine speed exceeds cranking speed stop setpoint ( TNK14HC1 ) { 60% / 2160 rpm }: Oil drains from Torque Converter ( L20TU1X ) to unload the Starting Motor.

    Turbine operation is self-sufficient. Rotor acceleration continues due to fuel flow.

    Depending on ambient conditions and turbine speed, the Variable Inlet Guide Vanes will start to modulate to their intermediate position to maintain positive fifth stage pressure and prevent compressor stall.

    At approx. 95%/3420 rpm speed ( L14HS ): Combustion monitor enabled. Exhaust frame blowers on. Aux. lube oil pump shut down. Aux. hydraulic pump shut down. Compressor bleed valves close.

    Start field flashing

    Start Exication ( L4EX_STRT_SS ) at L14HF ( 95%/3420 rpm ).

    Complete Sequence ( L3 ) Emergency lube oil pump not running ( L72QEZ ). Aux. Hydraulic pump not running ( L52HQ ). Aux. Lube oil pump not running ( L52QA ). FSR Speed droop control ( L30FD_ND ). Above operating speed ( L14HS ). No shutdown initiated ( L94X ). Unit is at FSNL ( 100% ), ready for generator to synchronize and breaker to close. Message SPEED CONTROL

    Generator load raises automatically ( L90LR ) to the selected load point. With no load point selected, the load will be spinning reserve ( 4 mw ). To change from one selected load point to another, select the new target and execute. The manual raise ( L70R ) or manual lower ( L70L ) targets can be executed to select any desired load.

    FIRED SHUTDOWN

    Turbine trips are part of the Protective Systems. These types of trips cut fuel off immediately and unit coasts down. This is different from a FIRED SHUTDOWN where fuel decreases gradually allowing rotor speed to decrease to reduce the thermal stresses.

    AUTO SHUTDOWN STOP and EXECUTE ( L1STOP_CPB )

    Vibration input groupe disabled ( L39VD2 ). Generator vent. trouble shut down. If 2 or more RTD's => 100 deg F at generator stator coupling end ( L94GEN ). Redundant Sensor Protection For Inlet Press ( L63TFH ) DGP Critical Self Test Failure ( L74CR ) Combustion Protection Shutdown Lockout ( L94GSDW ) Auto shutdown initiated ( L94AX ).

    Normal shutdown initiated ( L94X )

    Message Unloading Seq. in Progress Stop

    Unit unloads to 0 mw.

    Breaker opens on reverse ( L32DW ) {-3 mw} Speed reference ramps to minimum value.

    At L14HS: Exhaust frame blowers shut down. Aux. lube oil pump starts. Compressor bleed valves open.

    Unit trips ( L94T ) 8 minutes after breaker opens ( L94XZ). ( K94XZ ) OR Loosing flame in either can ( L28FD ) and ramp to blowout detected ( L83RB ).

    Turbine coast to zero speed ( L14HR ). Aux. hydraulic oil pump started. Ratchet sequence started. Normal cooldown sequence started.
