Our Problem(s)

• Citizens have civil problems (water leaks, broken toilets, dumped solid waste)

• Tanzanian council(s) want to have them fixed

• Can we improve the sanitary conditions of citizens in less developed countries through monitoring?

• Needs to target full on smart phones to basic ‘phones’

• How can these problems be fixed?

• How do you geocode an SMS message?

• Integrating SMS messages on a remote server.

Taarifa: Online

• Acts as SIMPLE Customer Relationship Management system

• Allows for reporting of water and sanitation issues for citizens, through web form, SMS and Android

• Uses Ushahidi as a base, extended to include

• Management of groups

• ‘Cloud’ Based SMS-ing.

• Feedback loops, to keep the report up-to-date with the progress of their report

• Adds a triage functionality for the assignment of problems to work teams
