Cadet College Wana even in its infancy has already contributed significantly in changing the

reflection of South Waziristan Agency in general and FATA in particular through education. Its highly

motivated and qualified faculty is ever committed in transforming raw juveniles of FATA into educated

and responsive citizens of 21th Century’s Pakistan by having special focus on academic excellence,

character building and personality development.

College in a very short span of time has already produced commendable academic results, both in

Introduction

Wana is a historic town of South Waziristan Agency. It is located at a distance of 140 Kms North West of Dera Ismail Khan, at an

altitude of 4850 feet above sea level, wedged between towering mountains in the midst of the famous Wazir country. Cadet

College Wana commenced its maiden session in April 2011.

Objectives of College

To provide quality education from 8th to 12th cl, at subsidized rates to students from all over the country to include KPK

and Baluchistan in general and FATA in particular.

To eliminate the sense of deprivation and alienation among tribesmen, by providing prospects to bring them in national

mainstream.

To channelize the potentials of tribals into more productive ventures bearing on nation-building activities.

To inculcate in young cadets the spirit of national cohesion and hone their patriotism.

The focus will be on academic excellence, personality development, character building, promotion of true religious

values, leadership traits and physical development.

To act as an outlet to transform the cadets and condition them for taking responsible positions in all walks of life.

To inculcate national harmony integration and providing opportunity to tribal cadets to work in consonance with their

colleagues from the settled areas.

Control and Management

The college is financed by the Federal Government through FATA Secretariat and run by a Board of Governors.

The Governor KPK is the Chairman of the Board with the General Officer Commanding 9 Division as the Vice Chairman.

The Principal works as a Secretary to the Board and is responsible for the administration of the college according to the

rules laid down by the Board.

Military Staff

The Army Staff is headed by the Adjutant of the rank of Captain who is responsible for military and physical training of

cadets.

College Calendar. A forecast of events starting with the beginning of term will be followed. Parents and guests are always

welcome at events, like Parent’s Day, which will be tentatively held in October every year.

The next academic year has 3 terms of approximately 12 weeks). The outline is as follows: -

a. 1st Term. It is academic in outlook due to board exams while routine

co-curricular activities are taking place but no competitions are planned.

b. 2nd Term. Is primarily extra-curricular in outlook while academic would

focus on covering max syllabus.

c. 3rd Term. Has an equal mix of academic and

Religious Activities. Regular prayers, observance of fast in the Holy month of Ramazan, adherence to the Islamic code of life,

honesty and truthfulness form the corner stone of religious motivation / grooming. Religious instructions will be imparted in the class

rooms, mosque, morning assembly and through frequent pep talks.

Curriculum and System of Education

The College follows the syllabus laid down by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Islamabad. The medium of

instructions is English. The College offers Pre-Medical and Pre-Engineering courses for Intermediate classes.

Class tests and terminal examinations will be held at regular intervals. Cadets’ progress reports are assessed and complete record

of their academic performance and overall conduct is sent to the parents at the end of each term. A cadet failing twice in the same

class will no longer be retained in the College.

Library and Audio-Visual Aids.

College Library is established and managed by a qualified Librarian. It will also have an Audio Visual Library with latest equipment

to acquaint the cadets with modern techniques of acquisition of knowledge and learning.

Co-Curricular Activities. Inter-House Urdu, English debates, Essay Writing, Qirat and Quiz Competitions are held regularly to put

the cadets through a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Computer Section. Computer laboratory is equipped with adequate facilities such as a large number of computers, colored

printers, laser printers and scanners. General computer periods are held for each class and Computer is also offered as a subject for

those cadets who wish to pursue career in I.T.

Educational Visits and Excursions. The College attaches great importance to educational visits and excursions. Visits will be

arranged to various institutions and places of historical importance.

Literary and Cultural Activities. A regular period is fixed for cultural and literary activities for each class on Fridays. The

topics for junior and senior classes published in the Weekly College Order. Cadets are encouraged to express their views on various

topics to build their confidence. The College provides them with ample opportunities to prepare topics from the books which broaden their

mental horizon, knowledge and learning.

Clubs and Societies. Various Clubs and Societies, i.e Riding Club, Photographic Club, Computer Club, Urdu and English

Debating Societies are in place to develop the skill, knowledge and confidence of cadets. Shooting and Hiking Clubs will also be

functioning.

College Hospital. The College has a Medical Officer, assisted by dispensers. Cadets with serious ailments are referred to

Forward Treatment Centre or Scouts Hospital Wana.

Houses. Cadets are accommodated in furnished hostels. Hostels are looked after by a House Master, assisted by House Tutor

and Military Staff.

Physical Training. Games, Sports and PT / Drill are compulsory for cadets. Sports form an integral part of training of cadets.

Regular Inter-House, Senior and Junior Competitions, both indoor and outdoor are arranged under the supervision of qualified coaches.

Annual sports fixtures will also be arranged with the sister institutes.

Administration Block. A grand building comprises offices, class-rooms, science laboratories, computer Lab and a staff room. It

has a spacious Auditorium with a capacity to accommodate all students and faculty, used for morning assembly, functions, get-togethers

and co-curricular activities.

Cadets’ Mess. The college has a spacious mess. A cadet from each house will be the member of Mess Committee, which will

meet frequently to discuss menu and ways of improving the messing standard.

ADMISSIONS

Admission in 8th class would be granted purely on merit derived from the cumulative results of Written Examination and Interview conducted by the College.

Eligibility for Class 8th

A candidate must be in Class 7th at the time of admission.

Age limit is 12 to 14 Years. (Six months age relaxation for Hafiz-e-Quran). Syllabus for Entrance Test 8th Class Syllabus of 7th Class (Punjab Text Book Board) will be used for entrance exam.

English : 100 Marks Mathematics : 100 Marks Urdu and Islamiyat : 100 Marks (Urdu 70, Islamiyat 30)
