Network of Govern-
It has just ticked over 12 months since the amalgamation of part of the former Corangamite region of Government schools with the Warrnambool Network of Government Schools. We have begun real collaboration as a much larger network of 30 Government Schools meeting regularly with open sharing of our data to identify ways in which to work together for improved student outcomes. Recently, we agreed to use some of our Sponsorship funds to support the Literacy and Numeracy leaders programs to further support best practise in literacy and numeracy across our schools. A big thank you is extended to our Business Sponsors during the past 12 months, Darrian Office Choice and Art Supplies, MSP Photography, Coles Coaches and Jims Test and Tag. These sponsors have provided much needed funds and community connectedness to continue to provide the resourcing for programs to support our young people.
The ambitious targets set by the Education State agenda
of the State Government mean we will have to not only
use best practise but start doing things differently with
more collective purpose and personalised learning if we
are to reach these goals. In this issue you will see
examples of the amazing work happening in our schools,
some during the recent Education Week where schools
opened their doors to show the outstanding teaching and
learning visible. Students today have instant access to
news and information and are learning at an incredible
rate. Harnessing and supporting the technology that
opens the world to our young people is the challenge for
society and for our schools in an era of fake news. Schools
and Teachers continue to be the most important factor in
ensuring our learning community is informed, ready and
able to face the challenges of the present and future.

Education Week celebrations at Camperdown College gave our students the opportunity to share and showcase
many wonderful aspects of the learning experience at the Junior and Senior Campus. A stimulating and varied
program of health promoting activities was on offer and it was a treat for us all to have so many interested and
appreciative visitors attend our Grandparents and Special Friends Open Morning, National Simultaneous Story-
time and the Year 7 Information Night for 2018. Our students were wonderful ambassadors for the College,
welcoming visitors and facilitating activities.
In a P-12 school we relish the opportunity for cross-age learning and mentoring. The introduction of the very
successful Hands on Learning (HOL) Program this year has provided a platform for a select group of Year 7-10
students to apply their skills to projects that are adding value within and beyond our school. Our Senior Campus
HOL team has recently redesigned and rebuilt the Junior Campus sick-bay, and earlier this term made 100
whisper phones and delivered them to their fellow students in Prep – Year 2. The whisper phones will enable
the younger students to better hear themselves when reading aloud, reducing classroom noise and allowing the
students to concentrate on sounds. Our HOL students are enjoying the opportunity to give something to the
younger students in the College and their efforts have been greatly appreciated by Junior Campus students and
staff.

For the past five years, Camperdown College
students have participated in the annual
Victorian State Schools Spectacular, a
performing arts opportunity for Victoria’s
government school students from Prep to Year
12 which sees them working with industry
professionals and developing their creative
skills, discipline, perseverance and confidence
over months of rehearsals. This year our mass
dance team is from the Junior Campus and after
months of school and district rehearsals our
participants are very excited about joining 3000
other students from across the state to perform at
Melbourne’s Hisense Arena on September 16th.
Tickets are on sale through Ticketek now!

Business Partner Testimonial: “The most positive element for us that the [business sponsor]
programme provides is an avenue to build relationships with the local school community.
As a local business we need to demonstrate a commitment that our large corporate
business competitors probably don’t. We see our sponsorship as providing a point of
difference”. Darryl Twycross, Darrian Office Choice and Art Supplies, Warrnambool.
