RULES & REGULATIONS United States Equestrian Federation

“Every class offered herein, which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF

Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.”

To be eligible for the Western Pennsylvania Professional Horsemen’s As-

sociation, the Mountaineer Hunter/Jumper Association High Score

Awards, riders and/or owners must be a current member of the above

named associations.

ENTRIES: Entries will close six (6) days prior to each show.

POST ENTRY FEES: $15.00 late fee per show unless otherwise stated. Entries received after

June 12th will be subject to post entry fees unless otherwise stated.

USHJA HORSE REGISTRATIONS: All horses competing in federation non-breed restricted

competitions must obtain a Registration Number from USHJA. A registration number for each

horse must be entered on all entry forms. Applications for Registration Numbers can be completed

on-line or using the Horse Registration application form. See HU101.1 and JP100.2 of the USEF

Rule Book.

ALL HUNTERS PLEASE NOTE: Courses will simulate fences found in the hunting field such

as: brush, wall, in-and-out, oxer, post & rails, gate, aiken, panels, and logs.

PRIZES:

Eight ribbons will be presented in each class. A Champion and Reserve Champion title will be

awarded to two of the four horses or ponies acquiring the most points over fences in each Hunter

Division. In addition to these points, only these horses or ponies will receive full points for one U/S

class.

All classes to be judged on performance and soundness unless otherwise stated.

PLEASE NOTE:

Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Dogs are not permitted in the show off ice or in-

side the main building.

No Smoking around stabling areas.

No alterations are to be made to the permanent stabling or other facilities by exhibitors.

A processing fee of $35.00 plus collection fees will be charged for any non-negotiable

checks.

STABLING: Stall Fees - $95.00 pre-paid per stall; 10’ × 10’ wooden stalls with door. No stalls

will be reserved unless accompanied by payment. As stabling is limited, stalls will be assigned on a

first come, first served basis.

REFUNDS: NO STALL FEES WILL BE REFUNDED. In cases of horses being entered and not

exhibited, the entry fees will be forfeited. If a horse is injured or becomes ill prior to being shown

in any class, the entry will be refunded upon receipt of veterinarian’s certificate less an office pro-

cessing charge of $25.00

PRIZE MONEY: All prize money won will be applied to the exhibitor’s entry fee. Any money in

excess of the entry fee will be mailed to the exhibitor within 10 days of the last day of the show.

SCHOOLING: All classes will be held in the rings. A schooling paddock with fences will be

available throughout the Show.

At the discretion of the Committee, schooling will be allowed in the ring before and after each daily

schedule.

HAUL IN FEE: $30.00 PER WEEKEND

RING SIZES: Ring 1 – 150’ × 255’; Ring 2 – 150’ × 190’; sand footing

Two warm up rings; sand footing.

CREDENTIALS: No numbers will be released until proper credentials and all signatures are

in order: All exhibitors in the Pony and Junior Hunter sections must present their measurement

cards at the office before numbers will be released. All Pony or Junior Hunters who do not possess

a current measurement card will be measured at a place and time to be announced. All exhibitors in

Amateur sections must present their Amateur certification at the office before numbers will be re-

leased.

A Photostat copy of credentials can be sent with the entry form to speed processing.

plimentary Exhibitors’ Party immediately following the Show on Saturday to be held on the show

HARD HAT HARNESS RULE: Exhibitors must wear protective headgear passing testing standards while riding in the designated

schooling and exercise areas, the show ring and while jumping anywhere on the show grounds.

Class 118. Sewickley Hunt Hunter Derby $750 Entry fee-$45.00

Open to all junior riders and adult amateurs on horses or ponies. To be judged on

performance, hunter style, brilliance and handiness. All horse/rider combinations must show in at

least one hunter division prior to the derby at this show to be eligible. Course will be designed to

show horse and rider’s ability to perform over traditional hunter obstacles which may include walls,

gates, brush, roll tops, natural obstacles, and oxers. The class may include bending lines, trot jumps

or combinations. The class will be conducted as a two round competition and judged by the open

numerical system. The top 20% or 6 horses from the first round will return to jump a second round

in reverse order of their scores from the first round, lowest going first. Scores will be averaged

from both rounds to determine the winners. Fence height must be declared at time of entry. The

fence height must be equal to he highest fence height jumped , or to be jumped, in any hunter class

at this show.

The Hunter Breeding Division is open to horses. Breeding classes are judged on

Confirmation, way of moving, quality, substance, soundness and suitability to become a

hunter. Horses are to be walked and or jogged before being moved on the line in order of

preference. If entries warrant, the classes will be divided into a class for fillie and a class

for colts and geldings. Best Young Horse is open to horses who have placed 1st or 2nd in

classes 871-873.Follows USEF Specifications. 1:30 Start Time.

National Children’s Medal

Open to all junior members of the USEF and CEF who have never competed in a Nation-

al Equitation Final with fences at 3’6” (i.e. USEF MEDAL, ASCPA McCLAY, USET,

CET, or CEF finals. WIHS Capital Cup). Riders may not compete in the Show Circuit

Magazine Children’s Medal Finals and final with fences at 3’6” in the same year. To be

shown over a minimum of eight fences2’9” to 3’in heights. Spreads not to exceed fence

height. The course may be either a Jumper or Hunter type course and must include at

least two changes of direction and a combination. Water obstacles are not permitted. The

top four riders, or 20% of the first round competitors, whichever is greater, are required to

perform at least two individual tests from USEF tests 1-19. An open Numerical Scoring

System must be used in the first round, with each rider’s score announced at the comple-

tion of their round. The riders who will be invited to compete in the finals will be chosen

as follows: the high point rider in each of the five regional series will be invited, along

with the top 30 riders from the national Standings list. There will not be an entry fee for

the finals.
