HIKE & BIKE IN THE GLEN T I P P E R A R Y Guidelines for walkers Experienced guides will accompany all walks. The decision and authority of the leaders is final and at all times to be accepted by the participant. Choose the walk most suited to your level of fitness, if in doubt please consult walk leader. Please adhere to the ‘Leave no Trace’ code of outdoor ethics. Deciding which walk is for you A Walk = Very Experienced walker B Walk = Experienced walker C Walk = Regular/Casual walker Clothing & Equipment “A” & “B” Walks are on open high rough country. Mountain boots are essential - no boots no walk; waterproofs, tracksuit -no jeans; cap, whistle, change of clothes for after walk. Packed lunch & drinks required. “C” Walk is on road and rough forest tracks, strong comfortable footwear, tracksuit-no jeans. Children are welcome, but not suitable for buggies. Base Point is at Lisvarrinane Community Centre, Lisvarrinane Village, on the R663. Directional road signs in place on N24 from Bansha, Tipperary, Cahir & from Bansha & Galbally on R663. Transportation will be provided to/from start/finish point where necessary. No dogs allowed. Accommodation list attached for Hotel, B&B; rates per person included. All participants must complete and sign a registration form prior to all walks and sign out afterwards. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Those participating in the Walking Festival do so at their own risk. The organisers maintain right to change route where deemed necessary Walk Leaders maintain right to refuse participation due to unsuitable clothing, footwear or lack of experience. The Glen of Aherlow Fáilte Society acknowledges the continued support of Hillwalking Radio and South East Mountain Rescue Association to the Glen of Aherlow Walking Festivals. Bus Departs 9.15am sharpDistance 17kmHighest Point Galtymore (919m)Height Gain 1400mWalking time 5/6 hoursThis “A” Walk is for very experienced walkers, starting from Anglesborough and taking in Temple Hill, Galtymore, Galty Beg and Cush and return to the pickup point at Clydagh.

B Walk: Fearbreaga LoopRegistration up to 10.15am. Bus Departs 10.30am sharpDistance 12km Highest Point Greenane (802m)Height Gain 800mWalking time 3/4 hoursStarting from the Waterworks above Rossadrehid taking in Fearbreaga, Greenane & Loughlins Castle and returning to pick up point at Waterworks.

C Walk: Ballydavid LoopRegistration up to 11am. Bus Departs 11.15am sharpDistance 11km Walking time 3- 4 hoursStarting from Ballydavid (by the old Youth Hostel) enjoy a 3 – 4 hour trek through forest trails across the eastern end of the lower Galtees which will bring you up by the mast to enjoy panoramic views over the Glen of Aherlow Valley.

Dé Domhnaigh/Sunday June 3rd: Aherlow Cycle SportiveThis year we have two cycle routes on offer, 110km and 75km, both routes will start together and divide after the refreshment stop in Tipperary Town. This event is organized by Tipperary Wheelers and Glen of Aherlow Fáilte Society

Route 1: 110kmWill take a scenic route around the Glen of Aherlow and east Limerick area. (see map)

Route 2: 75kmWill follow similar route but will break away for home after the refreshment stop in Tipperary Town. (see map)

Registration: On the day in Lisvarrinane Community Centre from 8:30amCycle Start: 10.00amRefreshment Stop at Tipp Town Plaza for both routes; from here the routes separate. Refreshments will be available afterwards in Lisvarrinane Community Centre.

Fee €20 for Cycling Ireland Members.Fee €25 for Non Cycling Ireland Members. (to cover cost of 1 Day License)
