By: Tara McCleeryDate: Saturday, 6th November 2010Due: Tuesday, 9th November 2010
WHAT HAPPENED LEADING UP TO THE BATTLE
King Edward the Confessor, had died with no children. So a man named Harold was chosen king, the day of Edwards funeral, by other very important Englishmen. Harold was also very important and very good leader in battles. The trouble was that three other men wanted to be king, Harald Hardraada, William, and Tostig.
Harold heard from his spies that the Normans were preparing to attack. Harold knew that the Normans would come soon. Harold took the largest army in England ever and made them stand at the coast all summer to watch for the Normans.
AFTER THE SUMMER.
Suddenly Harold had terrible news that Harald Hadraada, Norwegian King, landed in the north so Harold took his army to the north to fight. He had to forget about William. He went to the north. A messenger arrived saying that the Normans arrived south so he had to get down there and quick!
The Normans and Englishmen faught in Hastings on August 14th 1066.
