5.3.3 Test result The requirements are FULLFILLED Remarks: Device intervention is prevented by the use of seals on the enclosure screws. Access to the speed measuring system is only possible once these seals have been broken. The device takes a reading every 20 seconds and stores this data thus recording the vehicles movements. After 24hours the memory is overwritten with current data (looping memory) The device identifies the driver by his ID card and stores the continuous rest periods of this driver in the flash RAM. This information is never deleted. The ID card (smartcard) contains the driver’s forename, surname, driving license number and information relating to the driver’s usage of the a vehicle within the last 24 hours. This information is past on to the tachograph and appears on the printout. The speed of the vehicle is read every 20 seconds and stored in the device. The distance travelled is calculated using the speed and calibration constant and stored in the device

The tacograph is equipped with real time and date derived from the timer in the µP. The µP is puffered with a CR2032 battery inside the tachograph thus safeguarding against data loss. The driver’s usage time is saved on the ID card and transfered to the device upon instertion. This usage time is stored irrespective of which vehicle the driver uses. The use of double ID cards is curtailed by its identification due to a checksum of the drivers particulars (name, license number etc.). The use of the double card appears on the printout as a separate card, but the accumulated data is allocated to the same driver. The tachograph stores error messages, including the loss of battery power in a flash RAM. A high pitched aubible tone sounds when speed thresholds are exceeded, the ID card is removed or any other error (countinuous or total time error) should occur. The device is equipped with a button that allows the user to scroll through the errors occurred. The continuous time, total time and errors can be viewed by depressing the respective button on the front of the device once. The buttons are from left to right: C. Time, T. Time and Error.

stroke/km and 20000 stroke/km - The distance passed must be saved with maximum 4% tolerance in 1km.

5.10.2 Test result The requirements are FULLFILLED Remarks: With a deviation in the calibration coefficient and the pulse count of ± 1, the calculated speed remains within the permissible tolerance of ± 2km/hour. Speed measurments are made at a rate of 1/s. The measured speed is averaged every 20 seconds and saved. No compression or decompression of mathematical values take place for the purpose of calculation, thus keeping the average deviation at the same value as the deviation for the measured value (± 2km/hour) The device is equipped with a driver speed memory, which records the driver’s identity and the current speed at a rate of 3/min. The driver’s usage, break and resting periods are saved on the ID card at a rate of 1/min. The real time clock has a deviation of less than ± 2s within a 24 hour period. This was measured using a calibrated stopwatch. The lost minute function safeguards against loss of data within a 2 minute period. The available calibration coefficient lies between 2000 and 40000 stoke/km. The distance travelled is stored in a 5 byte word with a resolution of 10m (±1%)

5.11 Voltage Range, Drops and Extreme Voltage Protection (Test Standard 2.8.2 - 2.8.4)

5.11.1 Description of the requirement Declared working voltage must be within 12/24 V d.c. Device must work properly in a voltage range of between 9 V dc. and 16 V dc. or 21 V dc. and 28 V dc. During the service, if the feeding voltage falls under the bottom limit, the device must consider it as an electric power cut and when the voltage returns again it must resume working properly. Any cut in the voltage or any polarisation change (+/- 12/24 V dc.) must not cause any difference in information saved during short circuit. It must be confirmed that it can withstand extreme voltage sources. - 24 V versions: +40 °C 34 V dc for 1 hour. - 12 V versions: +40 °C 17 V dc. for 1 hour
