    PrivateGSM Software system requirements 1

    1. Supported mobile phone devices

To use PrivateGSM it is neccesary to have a phone that supports the software.

Currently the software is supported by Nokia Symbian S60 3rd Edition mobile phones.

PrivateWave has cataloged all mobile phones in this series.

ATTENTION: It must be emphazied that if PrivateGSM works on a mobile phone, the

security is guaranteed and will always be 100%. Eventual abnormalities in the functionsdo not imply that the phone can possibly be decoded; unless for tangible problems,i.e.

problems with the phone speaker, etc If you succeed making a call using PrivateGSM the

    call is completely secure!

In the following pages, you find a list of supported mobile phones; for further assessment,

you can find photos of all the phones in the attachment.

N.B.: To find out your mobile phone model you can simply type *#0000# and read the code

on the phone display. As an alternative way, you can find the model on the sticker under the

    phone battery.

    2. Teleoperators, types of SIM card contracts andaddition of a Data line phonenumber

PrivateGSM does not use the standard communication vocal channel. Calls are protected

because they travel in a data line CSD (often called data/fax line), because of this it is

essential that the SIM card to use the software with is managed by an operator who

supports CSD data line and above all that the service is included in the chosen

    contract (subscription or recharging).

ATTENTION: PrivateGSM may not function correctly with certain telephony

operators or with certain types of subscriptions (typically with rechargeable SIM cards).

Advice from PrivateWave: we suggest you to activate a new SIM choosing from the above

    mentioned optimal combinations.

    Additional Data number

The additional data number will be associated with the right SIM from the moment of

activation of the CSD line. For optimal use of PrivateGSM it is advised to use the data

number when making secure calls. Though it is possible to use the regular telephone

number for PrivateGSM calls, without using additional data number, one may not be able to

stabilize a communication, especially in Roaming.

You can ask for your additional data number from your teleoperator.

We suggest that you use the additional data number as the secure number, by the

help of which you can communicate to other PrivateGSM users.

    3. Activation of the CSD line and the data numberfrom your telephone operator

Once you have verified that your mobile device is supported by PrivateGSM, and you have a

right combination of operator/subscription, you should contact your teleoperator to activate

the CSD line associated with your SIM card.

If you prefer to have a technician at your disposal, you can consult the support section of

    our website: http://www.privatewave.com

    4. Set-up of the telephone line

PrivateGSM, as indicated by name, works in accordance with 2G/GSM.

Therefore it is necessary to verify that the line is configured to 2G/GSM,not to 3G/UMTS.

(With this mode, the software may not function)

Be sure that your phone fulfills the following conditions:

    1. that it is a compatible mobile phone model,2. that the CSD line and additional data number are available and activated,3. that the telephone line is 2G/GSM.

If these conditions meet on both parties of the secure call, PrivateGSM works perfectly,

and guarantees a secure call without any interception.

    5. What you need to know before making a securecall.

The security of your calls depends on the communication travelling through a dataline instead of a normal voice line. As a consequence there will be a short delay on

the voice connection, unavoidable with this type of technology.

Advice from PrivateWave: Allow 1 second after your conversation partner has finished

    speaking, until the voice arrives.

With some mobile phone models you will not hear the classical ringing tone whencarrying out a secure call; the phone is however ringing (as you can see on the

display). Normally , because of the security key exchange process, the initial

connection between the two PrivateGSM users will take not more than 1 minute.

Advice from PrivateWave: Once started the call, you will have to wait 15-20 seconds

before you can speak with your conversation partner. You can easily take your phone down

and control the state of the call on the display. You will be informed that the security keys

are being exchanged and shortly you will be able to start the secure conversation. If the

phone of the recipient is busy a message will display on your phone.
