symsoft m2m online charging

At Symsoft, we are experts in online charging for operators that want to target the growing market for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications. Our Nobill Online Charging System (OCS) is developed to cater to the specific needs of M2M customers. With real-time control of traffic and flexible account management, it makes you more attractive as a partner.

Mobile operators have a huge opportunity in the M2M communications market. M2M customers can use existing cellular networks to connect infrastructure wherever there is coverage, radically decreasing the capital expenditure for connectivity. To fully capitalize on this opportunity, operators need to make themselves an attractive partner. At Symsoft, we have experience of working with operators that offer premium M2M services for demanding customers.

real-time control of traffic

Nobill OCS adds value to your M2M offering by giving customers superior control of their service use. Experience shows that failing M2M terminals from time to time generate large amounts of traffic that lead to large costs for customers and possible service disruption. Meanwhile, legacy charging infrastructure is often not capable of monitoring service use in real-time to detect and manage erroneous equipment.

With Nobill OCS, all service use is monitored and controlled in real-time. A flexible framework for thresholds enables individual limits for all connected devices, and Nobill OCS ensures that thresholds will not be exceeded before allowing traffic through the network. In this way, you as an operator can give your customers the safety of knowing that no individual device can generate more than a certain amount of traffic.

Blocking traffic is only one of the options if a threshold for a device is exceeded. It is also possible to trigger a text message so that the customer is informed about the excessive traffic as soon as the threshold is exceeded, and capacity can be lowered for a specific device to decrease the impact of failing equipment while maintaining the ability to communicate with the device if necessary. Several thresholds can be set for a device, for example to send a text message and lower transmission speeds when one threshold is exceeded and then finally blocking traffic altogether if a second threshold is reached. With Nobill OCS, you can offer your customers the control that they demand.

flexible account management

M2M customers also place new demands on account management, with the need to associate a large number of devices to a single customer. The flexible account structure of Nobill OCS lets an unlimited number of devices be associated with one customer account. Traffic from all connected devices can be charged from a common pool of capacity bought by the customer. It is also possible to have different sub-accounts so that different categories of devices can be charged from different pools. Information on service use is simple to export to external systems for wholesale settlement. Managing M2M customers have never been easier!
