• Using something (symbols) to represent something else
• An object, person, or situation has another meaning other than its literal meaning
Examples of Symbolism
• As a Metaphor:• Time is money• Life is a roller coaster• My Mom is my rock

• Writing that helps the reader paint a picture in his or her head
