The body’s own material, absolute biocompatibility – no rejection reactionOnly the body’s own material can ensure “absolute” biocompatibility. Rejection reactions and adverse effects due to the graft are avoided with autogenous augmentation. What is harvested from the body is used for replacement – no more, no less.

Predictable success – optimal regenerationThe treatment of defects can be perfectly planned and precisely implemented with bone transplantation. The osteogenetic properties of the patient’s own bone ensure optimal regeneration.

Dependable augmentation – also for large-area defectsLarge-area augmentation, e.g. of the alveolar crest, can only be achieved optimally by transplantation of a bone block. The graft and grafting site can be precisely matched to each other.

Minimally invasive, reliable bone preparation – almost without bone lossWith a cutting width of just 0.29 mm, Frios MicroSaw facilitates an extremely precise, minimally invasive osteotomy line. This results in hardly any loss of valuable bone material. The adjustable protector reliably protects the soft tissue during treatment.

Osteogenetic properties – new natural boneIn contrast to exogenous augmentation materials with osteoinductive or osteoconductive effects under ideal circumstances, autogenous bone has the natural capability of osteogenesis – for proven formation of new bone.

Almost every second implant performed today is accompanied with augmentative measures. The goal of every procedure is a predictable, esthetically and functionally optimal outcome. The greatest probability of achieving this goal is by augmentation with the patient’s own bone – the gold standard for augmentation.

For bone block preparation• to harvest autogenous bone from the

retromolar or chin area

To create an access window for• apicoectomies• surgical removal of cysts• removal of foreign bodies or root fragments• removal of transversed and impacted teeth• transposition of the inferior alveolar

neurovascular bundle• bone splitting/bone spreading• decortication

Use of the Frios MicroSaw with contra-angle handpiece:• for horizontal cuts during preparation of bone

blocks and access windows

Use of the Frios MicroSaw with straight handpiece:• for vertical cuts during preparation of bone

blocks and access windows• for bone preparation during augmentative surgery• the angled handpiece allows easy access to the

retromolar area

Use of the Frios MicroSaw drills:• for marking the incision on the alveolar ridge• for perforating deeper into the cortical bone if it

is not cut through completely after using the Frios MicroSaw diamond disc

Frios contra-angle handpiece

Assembly:1 Place the ring of the Frios

MicroSaw protector (A) on the head of the Frios contra-angle handpiece, and secure it with the knurled knob (B).

2 Insert the MicroSaw diamond disc into the Frios contra-angle handpiece as far as it will go. Press the button on the back of the contra-angle handpiece head and turn the MicroSaw diamond disc until it engages.

3 Connect the irrigation tubes.

Frios handpiece (straight/angled)

Assembly:1 Slide the Frios MicroSaw

protector onto the Frios hand-piece (straight/angled) as far as it will go.

2 Rotate the lever on the handpiece 90°.

3 Insert the MicroSaw diamond disc into the Frios handpiece as far as it will go and rotate the chuck lever back into place.

4 Connect the irrigation tube.

Frios MicroSaw protector

A range of Frios MicroSaw protectors is available for the different Frios straight and contra-angle handpiece models.

Frios MicroSaw protector and MicroSaw Disc: assembly and disassembly

Disassembly:1 Remove the MicroSaw diamond

disc by pressing the button on the back of the contra-angle handpiece head.

2 Remove the irrigation tubes.3 Loosen the knurled knob and

remove the Frios MicroSaw protector.

Disassembly:1 Rotate the lever on the

handpiece 90° to release the MicroSaw disc.

2 Remove the MicroSaw disc.3 Remove the irrigation tube.4 Remove the Frios MicroSaw

protector.

Horizontal cut

Horizontal cuts are performed with the Frios contra-angle handpiece.

Preparation of a mucoperiosteal flap

Reflect a mucoperiosteal flap to uncover the buc-cal plate.

Preparation of bone blocks and access windows

For removing root frag-ments or foreign bodies, the access window must be large enough to allow for generous uncovering of the underlying ana- tomical structures after dislocation of the buccal plate.

Safety clearance of at least 2 mm must be observed to adjacent teeth or other anatomic structures.

The Frios MicroSaw sets offer a comprehensive and precisely matched set of instruments for the smooth and successful augmentation with autogenous bone.

The effective cutting width of 0.29 mm allows extremely fine osteotomy lines, the maximum cutting depth is 3.2 mm. An adjustable protector ensures reliable protection of the soft tissue.

The speed can be selected between 800 rpm and 2,000 rpm according to the bone quality.

Page 7: Symbios® Autogenous bone harvesting - mavraidopoulos.gr · 2019. 10. 17. · Simplant® guided surgery, Symbios® regenerative solutions, and professional and business development

Defect preparation

Fill the defect with bone augmentation material mixed with blood and cover with a membrane.

Luxation of the bone block

Luxate the window cover or bone block with the Frios MicroSaw chisel.

Perforation of the cortical bone

The final osteotomy is made with the MicroSaw drill.

Vertical cuts

Vertical cuts are per-formed with the Frios handpiece (straight or angled).

Access window preparation:

• Remove residual roots and/or foreign bodies. • Reposition the window cover and suture the flap

back into place.
